The image of the Heroin Addict v. The Opioid Pharmaceutical "Pill Popping" Addict

Honestly i would switch to H if it were around because once your tolerance goes up on those pills its awful hard to make that script last the whole month, and then your out using all your money to find pills that other people get. Its a never ending cycle that ive been on since i broke my back/pelvis 3 years ago. If H were around that i could find and believe me ive looked and have plenty of oxy/pill connects i would be banging that shit everyday instead of these ridiculously priced pills.

Last week , the us army introduced a new anti-poppy spray in afghanistan, they are paying camel jockeys $10 a day to walk around poppy fields hitting the plants, aircraft are dive bombing large plantations, I expect heroin to triple in price i next 10 weeks then go into ultiples in coming months. Heroin is going to be over for most people, the pharm companies are gonna be your last resort. Get ready, there is a stormcoming....

And our flag was still there!

Link?

Also, we get our heroin from Colombia and Mexico here in the US.

oh how true

I think another factor is the view of the "college pill popper" as being that friend that everybody has in the group. I'm sure that a lot of people, out parents included, had friends that popped pills in college and that was fine. Now there are obviously many functional heroin users, many in college too, but you won't see them being viewed as funtional contributing members of society.

I am not sure of the %, but there are a lot of people that only choose heroin due to price, and if pharmaceuticals like Oxy were cheaper, they would be used since you know the dose, and it feels pretty much the same anyways.

I do heroin for price and availability, but prefer Oxy.

Exactly,I never quite understood the "romance"with street junk,How many times have you gotton sick as hell both physically and mentally because because some asshole was cutting his stuff with who knows what,to me street junk is the last resort at maintaining a habit, and really it's not that much cheaper in the long run than pills are, with pills you know what your getting, when you gotta sniff 10 pills of dope just to catch a decent buzz there's somthing seriously wrong with that, pods were a good thing but that went quickly to hell in a handbasket.

People are quick to judge a heroin user but don't realize how bad other stuff that people are on is,The withdrawal from benzo's and anti-depressants is baaaaaaaaad times,it blows my mind how easy the pharm reps can snowjob all these doctors into believing their evil shit, grandmom and aunt susie don't know what their in for when they stop taking the effexor etc,my experience has been that anyone who has never had a opiate habit can't understand what a habit really is so they'll believe the head up their as media about it,just like everything else in the world today.

^^^^^

This is probably some DEA agent wanting to put fear in everyones heart. Its an obvious lie since our own government is in the heroin growing/shipping business.

There both the same, one is just a white collar anglo male and the other would be your lower class minority. Both are due to sociolgy and/or economics, hate americas stigmas and prejudices. There both addicts bottomline

I don't know where you live, but heroin is not popular among lower class minorities. They sell it, but don't consume it.

I would say the image of the heroin user, is thought of as the skinny, pale, long haired, sweaty, tracked up, nodding, chain smoking, begging, leaning on the wall on the side of the corner store.

The pill popper image is nothing like that. It's more of a collared shirt, average car, middle of the line college student.

Of course, the reality is that either of these images can fit the other. The heroin user may look like I described the pill popper as, and vice versa.

I think this is due to the hesitation by many to put labels on people who are suffering from severe pain. It's unjustifiable as there are PHd/MD heroin addicts and as you said, pilled out people who fit the the "traditional junky" preconception.

I think people forget that Heroin was also used medically and was even available over the counter back in the day. You can still get it perscribed to you in the UK. In my opinion H and all the opiods are the same they all just have little differences that make them their own but overall you still get the opiate high you are looking for and you will get the same repercussions from abuse.
