^^ Ever spend any time in the Hive couch forum? 8) Personally I usually avoided it altogether.
From someone who was around in the earliest days of the Hive (and before on ADC) - D/L'ing every post Eleusis, Strike, Popeye and others made - IMO it ultimately became more a situation at the-hive where many of the less chemsmart people - and there were many of them - simply tended not to post on the chem forums.
Bluelight now appears on Google and for some time has been linked to from practically everywhere. It makes perfect sense that the wider the window is opened, the more shit flies in. The-hive on the other hand was linked to from relatively few boards, for various obvious reasons, one of which was undoubtedly to keep the numbers down of casual and/or less chem-smart people . That being said, there were still those who fumbled their way through the moral high-ground to become worthy contributors to the hive. I quote from a more recent post of tina_craig, a past bee who posted on many things chemical:
Synthetikal is great, Wetdreams is great, Sciencemadness is great, the Hive once again will join in the greatness of all these sites. Of course there is room for all, I frequent all 3 sites reugularly and each one always has a little sumthin, sumthin to offer. IMHO, Synthetikal and Wetdreams both offer a place for some to go that aren't always on the uppity up of the "you better know what the hell you are talking about if you are gonna post here" viewpoint, a more "User-friendly" environment if you will. When I started posting at the Hive, I guess I didn't much care about being flamed though because I posted my stupid questions anyway, got bad karma points and was told several times to UTFSE and "Use Metric Units", nonetheless, I started at the Hive, and love the Hive as well as this site and the above mentioned sites and in summary I would like to say that I wish there were 20 more sites like the aforementioned. So, Synthetikal, Wetdreams, Sciencemadness, and the soon to be resurrected Hive, I say Thank you and Rock on!!!!

Rhodium may have suggested this ruling of BL'ers not referring to the Hive although the only reference I ever saw was from comments made by PhreeX and others on Bluelight. At no time did I ever see any written request by Rhodium, and from personal correspondence with Lilienthal, nothing seemed to be known of it among hive moderators.
With the sort of mentality some people seem to have, it's no wonder chemistry is often viewed as a mysterious subject - above and beyond the understanding of the common man. How would it be if an MDMA metabolism question, posted here by someone obviously uneducated in physiology and pharmacology, was met with a "fuck off stupid" type of response? In the same light, how many "would-be" cooks were too scared to post on the hive for fear they may be branded a dickhead and flamed for it?
It's all very fine and well to say" If they don't know basic chemistry they shouldn't be even attempting a synthesis", but as we all know, this goes on regardless. How many people have ingested products made by people who were too scared to ask, and knew nothing of the importance of distilling MDP2P or even of not using an unclean vessel for crystallisation that previously held mercury amalgam? These sorts of mistakes
are made, and receivers of such contaminated products are very likely to be oblivious to it unless it nearly kills them.
I personally know of someone who got arsenic poisoning from consuming MDMA tablets - or at least that's all it could be put down to. He knew about it because he had a weakened renal system due to past chemotherapy, but others who took the pills just thought they were shit pills i.e. they got sick, & had sore kidneys, but didn't end up in hospital. How it got in there is anyone's guess, but it should serve to illustrate that, like it or not, amateurs will attempt and fiddle with drug preparation. Whether you approve of it or not, sensible and
practical HR practice needs to encompass a policy where these people are
encouraged to seek out advice, not be made to feel they are not worthy by being shunned and flicked off. For it's not only them who stand to lose.
What's a moderators job if it isn't to act as Janitor? UTFSE doesn't take much effort to write, and leaving out the F even less. And if you think the hive was free of such posts, have another look at how many times this form of response occurred.
