The gateway drug discussions thread

I started out taking pills first...then when my judgement wasn't exactly stellar, drank for the first time.

I definitely think that starting out with pills made me want to try other/more pills...but alcohol is a total turn-off for me.

People with a drug using personality are likely to do other drugs, though what you do/if you do other drugs that depends on your personality too. Like some people swear by marijuana, some people stay all natural, you know weed and shrooms. Me, I just like psychedelics in general, weed, lsd, shrooms, and whatever else. Then some people like to fiend over crack rocks...

Though once your in the lifestyle, smoking weed. Your open to new drugs, though I see once you start doing something other than weed then the real gateway starts. Well like, me and a couple friends were talking about this before and one of my friends suggested he felt like marijuana was a gateway, which got him to try mushrooms and acid once. Then me and my other buddy completely thought it was bullshit, if we wanted other drugs we would do other drugs.

Then there is drug dealers who may suggest other drugs, which you only will get if you really want to though.. Like the other day I got 5 hits of acid from my guy and he was like so and so has got some bomb ass ketamine right now..

I'd say prescription pain meds were my "gateway drug". I never really enjoyed alcohol and found weed boring. It was Vicodin/Darvocet/etc. that made me want to try MDMA. And once I tried that, I was open to trying other things. Right now I'm solely interested in trying certain pyschedelics (like LSD) but I'm too afraid to at this point in my life. Maybe later.

There's a certain type of person who's going to do drugs, whether intelligently or irresponsibly...and they gotta start somewhere. Weed is the logical choice for most first-time users because of its safety profile, availability, and popularity. Still, I don't know many weed heads who tried weed BEFORE tobacco or alcohol (or caffeine, prescription stimulants, and so on), so if anything, the legal drugs would be the true gateway drugs.

I think that most people try alcohol first, but I agree that's because it's legal and socially accepted. I also know A LOT of people who drink but won't go near "drugs". I don't know why, but I think it might have to do with propaganda. Before I researched drugs, I thought there was no reason to take them.

My first drug was ecstasy (a fine choice, if I do say so), and after that I smoked cigars/cigarettes then weed and then I drank. And then I did shrooms, coke, and other drugs. I think smoking weed allows you to get to know other drug users and experiment with other drugs.

other than alcohol and caffeine i have been a polydrug user since day 1....

ate some kpins, and smoked some weed.... of course i dont remember smoking the weed, or asking my step sister for codeine, or eating various things, or eating the last pill but it probably happened.... All i do remember is eating the pills and waking up in my bed like 18 hours later saying "what the fuck?"...

although before that i had been prescribed codeine....
And i had drank alcohol before this point...

IMO all drugs have the potential to be gateway drugs. My first drug was mushrooms, and that sure as hell was a gateway for me, because after surviving mushrooms I thought I could handle any drug. All drugs have that capability though, so once you've tried something you've opened that gateway, but no one has to enter the gateway.
