The Friday Thread v. roganjosh's Fascinating Weekend

Where da Friday thread? So I can post my fascinating weekend plans.

Same as last weekend, gotta go to the walk in centre up A&E each day to have my other arsehole plugged. Gonna mix it up a bit by going up there at 7am, try to beat the rush.

Other than that, I'm gonna play some Last of Us, the remastered edition. Really enjoying it, after spending 12 months looking at the box of, but not playing the PS3 version for some reason. Stunning character art, decent story and nicely designed levels. I think I'm qualified to say that I think the environment art is a bit ropey in places though, although I suspect it's suffered from shitty outsourcing - I know the outsource studios they used and recognise the art style - sad huh?

Anyway, mods can move this to the Friday thread if you like. Oh wait, I could move this I guess.

Not much plans myself, I'm back at my folks again so less freedom but more home cooking... can't complain really. I've got some suspicion there was something productive I was going to do this weekend but I can't remember.

I seem to remember handing in my notice as a mod some time ago... I might be here at the moment, but major surgery looms again, so I'll disappear soon enough.

Sleep, weed and drum and bass (almost always better than dubstep) will probably be features of my weekend too, although I expect I'll be doing all three from the comfort of my bed, rather than on of those nightclubs that the young and continent often frequent.

Sup yo The Last of Us sounds a lot more fun than the arsehole related pluggery. I got the original version but still need to finish it cos when I bought it I had no glasses and couldn't see shit. Also I sort of agree with the 'sad, huh?' bit, but in a completely non-derogatory way, cos I find it pretty impressive :D

Friday plans? Did shit all last night. Cobbled together a blunt out of the rolling tray and slept like a log. Today I'm mostly on LSZ and Oranjeboom and videogames. Tomorrow will be sleep. Excitement! Can't fucking wait for all the holiday-related shit to kick off. Taking our mate's kid to The Deep next weekend, then got office xmas party, week away etc etc. Roll on next few weeks.

Well, Saturday morning rolled around. Not as hung-over as expected. For some reason, a judicious dose of benzos and opiates before I go to bed prevents a hangover. I got that tip from a friend, and used to just use vallie 5s and 8/500 codeines. Now I've got more serious benzos and slightly more serious opes, I guess I'll have to be more careful with that tip.

Gosh yes, this too, a million times.

And aye I think the best hangover cure I ever had is tied between the pack of 30mg DHCs my mate gave me cos 'they make me feel funny' and the 30/500 co-co's and a couple spliffs. It's the simple things. Can't fucking beat benzos tho and suspect they may have played a part in the former cure as I was addicted at the time and have always had a very high opiate tolerance. Still worked though, even if inadvisable.

All that drug bollocks said, I used to have high levels of success with one or two tabs of Nytol and a pint of water before bed and would wake up feeling around 75% human

I might have worded my post badly. I had a minor surgery to open up an abscess and a fistula a couple of weeks ago, this has left a wound that needs daily packing with sorbisan and whilst I can see the practise nurse at my GP's during the week, I have to go up to A&E at the weekend to have it done. I would do it myself (I packed an open wound myself after my last abdominal surgery) but it's hard to reach, even with a mirror.

The big op where they open my up with a laparotomy isn't until January

There's actually another reason why I know about the outsourcers that Naughty Dog used that I didn't ought to mention on here It's a stunning game though, definitely worth finishing. Some of the best character art I've ever seen. The environments get much more elaborate and detailed, and the level design is some of the best I've seen, easily navigable without seeming too linear. I'm occasionally frustrated by seeing yet another stair case blocked by filing cabinets, but that's sometimes unavoidable. Not sure why the first levels are so bland in comparison. Generally speaking, you make the first level of a game later in the development process, because you want to wait until you have all the engine features in place, and the art style defined etc. Maybe they planned to do this but ran out of time?
