What was it?
Did you like it?
Did you find it repetitive?
What is your favorite DnB jam now?

And I mean the absolute FIRST, doesn't matter if it was a piece of shit, just your first impression. Mine was London Elektricity-Just one Second (apex re-mix) I fell in love with it but, didn't know it was DnB until I went gay for the genre. I recently fell in love with "Ed:it-Soviet" +D

i was thinkin early Metalheadz, like goldie's timeless but then i thought more and it would probably be
The Prodigy - Charly (Trip Into Drum and Bass Version) i was looking for something new, found it music shopping with my dad, use to be a good record store in Hollywood called "aarons" RIP, they had a great selection. i was big into hip hop style beats, so break beats sped up and bass totally gave me a hard on. also the whole rave culture thing, i knew then and there this was gonna be a part of my life.

fav dnb tune now is, well anything from Loxy & Resound, stripped down and raw. new album burning shadows is a brilliant.

Wow, really nice thread idea. This is going to take some thinking and some digging. The first track I heard was back in like 2001/2002.

first DnB Jungle Vinyl i had was - Soul Slinger - Jungle Love(+remix)/Africa White Label.

heheh.

idk, i keep thinking of an Afrika Bambaataa or a DJ Hyper mix. one of these was the first dnb/jungle mixes i heard all the way through.

well I listened to the whole mix of projectHUMAN by Dieselboy so technically it was the first track on that album. -> "Shapecharge - Rymetime + Optical" BUT my favorite tracks from that mix were:

Dylan & INK - California Curse (Technical Itch RMX)

Dom & Roland - Soundwall VIP

I definitely liked the music immediately. The drums sounded like it had similarities to hip hop so I was kinda digging it. In the beginning techstep and neurofunk is all I listened to until I found this album: 21st century drum and bass. Most of the tracks were neurofunk but there is one specific track that stood out: High Contrast - Make it Tonight. It still is one of my favorite drum and bass tracks of all time. Still got love for neurofunk but the music that gives me goosebumps on the back of my neck is liquid.

Favorite current track:
Madmen & Poets vs Soulgrifter & Ill-esha - Save Me

The absolute first?
My sister was playing the Hospitality 2010 album on her iPod and I remember being interested. I was just starting to get my first taste of EDM that summer.. anyways, the first track I remember hearing off that album was History of the Future by Camo + Krooked.
Later she dumped a whole ton of DnB onto my iTunes that one of her mates who was heavy into it gave her.. loved it all.. just kept searching from there

I believe this is the first one I purchased. My memory isn't good enough to remember the first track I heard, we are talking 15+ years ago.

Lemon D- Pursuit through darkness

I liked it because it was some of the darkest shit I had ever heard at that point.

I did not find it repetitive.

Don't really have a favorite now, not a fan of most modern music.

The first time I ever heard D&B was when MTV Russia was doing a 3 hours special on The Prodigy. This must have been in about 2000/2001. That's when I heard "The Prodigy - Charly (Trip Into Drum and Bass Version)"

But my real introduction came from GTA3's MSX FM which was simply a shortened version of Moving Shadow 01.1 with MCing.

^Thinking back, I've probably heard DnB many times before the first time I actually heard it knowingly. I used to listen to old Prodigy when I was 13 or so, and I know that DnB has been featured in many movies, commercials, etc... hell, my dad told me that he used to go to DnB shows when he was younger (well, younger than he is now, anyways). It's been around my whole life so I've probably listened to it a billion times without realizing..

I probably heard some "hardcore" pap with a few sampled piano sections and a vocal pitched up Alvin and The Chipmunks style.

Fucked if I know the title at this late stage.

I recall liking Goldie's Timeless when that album first made it Stateside.

prodigy - music for the jilted generation
specifically will always remember the first track, break and enter
i still have this cd somewhere, its all scratched up and worn out :D that's how you know I loved it. I still do.

that and the dungeonmaster's guide lol. I will always remember it. It does have some good tracks! I still listen to it every now and then. I am pretty sure the first rave I ever went to dieselboy was headlining, lol. and ak1200. his remix of drowning will always be one of my favorites.

These probably weren't the first tunes I ever heard but the first I remember hearing on a DJ Hype mix a flat mate had and thinking "actually this shit ain't bad" - Jo - R Type or Omni Trio - Renegade Snares (Foul Play remix)

Was an acquired taste, I didn't like it that much when I first heard it but then grew to love it more than anything else. I'd rather be placed upside down with my head in a bucket of shit than listen most dnb made in the last decade or so though :(
