I've never done amphetamines, but I've heard that they, meth in particular, increase anxiety, and increase confidence. How can they do both? They seem like opposites. Can someone please explain this apparent conflict to me?

has anyone found out that they perform better in sports or whatever while high on METH???i would think it would accelerate your performance but then again with the tremors, i dunno...

Seem like it would depend on how high on meth the person was. A medium dose would probably help a person perform well and retain great confidence in his own athletic ability, but a huge dose of meth and the euphoria can make people pretty damn ditsy (to put it lightly).

the anxiety discribes the state your body is in (dopamine issues?)
the confidence discribes the state your mind is in
(euphoria)
Right?
Speedy.

I am what my friends and associates call a "maintainence user." By this I mean, I rarely use meth in order to get "messed up," I usually use it simply for the alertness it causes, the hunger reduction (I have never liked to eat...not as in an eatig disorder, I just don't like to eat very much), the increase in concentration level, things like that. I also have learned to stop taking meth early enough in the evening to be able to get a few hours of sleep each night. When I do stay up for a few days, I notice that the "beneficial" effects of the meth are reduced. When I consume larger amounts of meth without taking a break and getting at least a few hours of rest, I begin to experience the hallucinations (I've learned to carry on conversations with my "shadow people"...most interesting so far though, I was driving one night and a spaceship was floating in front of my car the entire trip...one of the funny disk ones with a beam of light shining out from the bottom, like the ones in old black and white films) and problems being able to express myself (getting half way through a sentence and forgetting what I was talking about, no matter how important it seemed to me at the time, or forgetting a word...simple ones like "the" or "it", nothing complex)or losing my ability to concentrate at all. I think that this is where the difference between meth-related anxiety and meth-related confidnece can be seen. When I keep my intake at a lower level, I feel as though I can conquer the world, and that I am the most eloquent speaker/writer (writing has become my "sketch toy") that has ever lived. When I am on my third or fourth day of "sketching" I find that I am much more anxious with the world, my nerves are so shot by this time I begin to snap at everyone over anything at all (OH MY GOD!! there is a speck of dust on the candelabra!!! I'm going to kill whoever put it there!!!).
Maybe this isn't everyone's experience, but it is mine. :) Just thought I would put in my thought on this subject, I'm in a rather "talk"-ative mood right now for some strange reason... :)

I also think that I preform tasks better when on meth. I took a bowling class this past summer for one of my PE credits in school (gotta love those simple classes) and I found that I would bowl a much better game when on meth than when sober. I have also noticed that it is much easier for me to comprehend Biology and Chemistry (two sciences at once...yikes!!) this semester when I go to class on meth as opposed to when I don't. This is something that differes from person to person though. Some of my friends can not complete tasks that require extreme thought when they are on meth. It is my opinion that this depends on the body chemistry of each individual person. :)
