Has anyone noticed that taking a hot shower while stoned can effect your high? I'm only asking because there have been a few occasions in which I've taken showers while high and it's effected mine. Not sure if the strain of weed makes any difference, but I've gone in high and come out sober AND I've also gone in and blacked out every time I closed my eyes and nearly fell over because I was so disoriented (on separate occasions). Does anyone know why I'm having these reactions? Thanks in advance.

Showers don't effect my high at all. Then again, neither does eating... Pretty much the only things that deaden my high are high stress, time, and exercise.

Showers affect my high as well in the same way, they sober me up for the most part. I used to take showers on purpose when I was younger to help sober up quicker and not smell like weed so I wouldn't get caught.

Now when I'm stoned I avoid taking a shower unless it's absolutely needed lol

I thought I was the only one.
I rarely smoke weed anymore but when I used to smoke more, I'd always try to take the shower before smoking. It definitely sobered me up, or at least got way less high.

i find that any form of sensory pleasure i experience relating to touch or taste reduces the intensity of the high, but doesnt really sober me up quicker. it changes the effects somewhat tho. i think this has to do with the fact that when you eat, have sex, exercise, or any other activity like that, the blood which was originally more concentrated in your brain moves the concentration to other areas of the body (when you eat, it concentrates more in your stomach, exercise/sex into your muscles/loins, shower (hot or cold) moves the blood nearer to the surface of your skin to mediate the temperature differential, etc). more blood elsewhere = less blood in brain. less blood in brain = less THC delivered. when the blood moves back, part of the drug has been eliminated while it was away, so you feel less high.

this is my THEORY, although IMO it sounds fairly logical. would make at least some sense if this isnt the ONLY reason.

Weed lowers my blood pressure and increases my heart rate. Taking hot showers causes vasodilation which lowers blood pressure even more, making my heart pound even faster. I get dizzy and I really don't like it. I only ever get showers after I'm done tripping so that I can feel refreshed and rejoin the mundane world.

When I do a psychedelic like LSD at higher doses, I usually get really hot from all the vasodilation and if I'm not lying down I will definitely collapse.

Hot showers cause the brain's water to heat up, thus eliminating the THC absorption of Pothead Pixie receptors. Cold showers on the other hand cause immense penis shrinkage, resulting in phallic obsession and ultimately supreme gayness.

me and my swedish scientists are working on the effects of a "lukewarm shower". So far many of our patients have turned into genies and have been granting us 3 wishes each.

one of them was to give everyone of you more common sense.

As others said it lowers blood pressure.

After a hot shower or bath, if i step out too quickly (not adjust temperature) sometimes i am unfortunate and experience loss of vision, very scary 'fading away' feelings. Weird as hell.
Thats without being high!

When i smoked everyday for at least 5 years I used to get very lightheaded all the time through out the day and alot at night getting out of bed to piss. I thought i was diabetic. Turns out now I managed to quit for 5 months I no longer get this feeling. And as far as the shower I find it very relaxing. Mind you I play music everytime im in the shower or taking a duece. TMI lol ANyway Everyone is affected differently by drugs. its up to body chemistry. SO avoid showers while your high and toke up.

Ya man that used to happen to me all the time. I'd blaze up on my porch at my parents house and run in to the shower to get the smell off. I'd space out for like 10 minutes just sitting on the shower floor and when I finally stood up to get out id be like... "fuck man i'm not high anymore."

i used to smoke to motivate myself to go shower. It made showering more fun for me. I often use the shower for its calming effects when i am tripping too hard or am feeling sick. I've never had the issues OP has. I never get high enough to get disoriented unless you are just suffering from low blood pressure.

hot showers always seem to sober me up or "ground me". my friend used to take showers while on meth and up waaaaay to long, it would calm him and help him deal with being tweaked out another day. he is glad those days are behind him though.

oh and it seems cannabis is not an exception here. in my friends experience hot showers kill his weed buzz, but showering while stoned is still fun;)

it's not fun if you're living in an iceblock for a flat.

I never noticed them ending the effects of cannabis, but I always noticed it tended to wake me up and relax me at the same time. It also seemed to help help cure the droopy eyes.

You are so insightful, oh wise one. Please tell me more of the affects that trolling has on what little to no life you have.

Aaaand thank you so much to everyone else who has responded, I have enjoyed reading your replies! The blacking out may very well have been due to low blood pressure, that is something that I hadn't yet taken into consideration. Usually my blood pressure levels aren't an issue when I'm stoned though, because, well, I get hungry when I'm high. However it is possible that I had not yet eaten that day, because it has only occurred once. Anyway, thanks again!

I actually now remember back in high school smoking before my morning shower. I also remember feeling pretty light headed when getting out of the shower, but I have had that happen without smoking. I do also remember using the shower as an "escape" when I didn't want to get caught.
