The EADD Weeb Thread (Anime/Manga etc.)

Gonna keep updating this thread as i watch more and more mindfucky stuff :) Anyone any recommendations for myself? Should I take this elsewhere on BL? Will this thread be as popular as the people that watch the stuff 24/7 (Looks like it may be so :\ but hopefully not ;) )

Just finished deadman wonderland

got flung into my top 10 Immediately as it is very twisted and dark but has a great story, good characters (could be developed a lot more like they are in the manga apparently) and a healthy dose of blood being used as weapons in fight scenes, done by the same studio that worked on samurai champloo so has a great look/animation style, itsa pretty kick ass!

Mrs Curious used to be into manga and anime but she seems to have run out of stuff to watch. Can anyone recommend any girl-friendly anime to ease her back into it? Last one she watched and enjoyed was Chobits (just to give an example of the kind of stuff she likes).

Check out fruits basket or vampire knight also if mrs curious likes a good comedy romance :)

yeh my brother, he is an avid manga anime fan, he has aspergers syndrome, loves arcade games and stuff like that, i really need to know who his favourite anime/manga character !

I used to watch DBZ on cartoon network. I started reading the original dragon ball manga online as well..

Yeah agreed it is weird reading from left to right.

I just found this: http://www.tenmanga.com/chapter/DragonBall1/143577-4.html

1st page of the original dragon ball comic/manga...from 1984 (and the whole lot I think, just use arrows that appear when you roll over image to scroll through the pages) It's actually quite good (and pretty rude at points if it was meant for kids.)

i watched the transformers movie yet again the other day. i know crackhead agrees with me when i say its chock full of 80's win and much nostalgia to boot

not just that though, it stands up on it's own merit, and includes, for my money - the coolest scene of any anime, no matter how commercial and popularised, to this very day;

YES that is an epic movie, love every bit of cheese in it and the unicron planet destruction scene was intense with some mexxy

Anyone else here into Hellsing? I watched every episode straight through a year or so ago...Absolutely hilarious series, whether it tends to be or not. It changes a bit transitioning between series as it went from low-budget to big-budget, but it's all good. Excellent gore.

albion, thats pretty damn cool. is it a movie or series, was it japanese originally and if so is there a subtitled version available? animation is gorgeous, im just a total fanboy when it comes to jap voice actors. the quality of which can totally make or break an anime imo

edit - the animation looks somewhat western, hence my enquiry. fuckin cool though

edit 2 - okay, you said it was a series. i have to learn to read

bleach/naruto/one piece are all rubbish glitched ;) DBZ, now THAT is a shonen (fighting) show, 5 episodes of KAMIHAMIHAAAAHHHHHH8(8o8(8o:sus::sus::sus:8o8(8o8(

just finished watching baccano! there and its a great show, done in a similar style to tarentino's movies

its about various gangster groups and criminals on a train, some people are 'immortals' and that makes it hard for the gangsters to wack them permanently so there plenty of good fights too, with the animation style they used, it looks incredible!

8/10, beautiful animation and great story
(also theres various psychopaths which always racks up the awesome level in a show :D )

Itsa Baccano!

Anyone know if any of these studios have released any quality stuff the last 3-4 years? Studio 4 degrees, madhouse, IG productions

Finished attack on titan the other day at my brother instsiance, i dont usually watch animes but that one w\zss quality. Seen Death Note aswel, they're both great

*bump*

As my avatar suggests I'm a huge fan of Studio Ghibli...

I'm not sure what my favourite film would be but quite fond of My Neighbor Totoro & Kiki's Delivery Service. They are all great though... not one I've watched that I haven't liked & that's most of them!

What anime is similar to ghibli... I should really branch out a bit. I'm sure someone mentioned some great TV anime somewhere but I can't remember for the life of me what it was...

well if you want to look at TV anime, id recommend Cowboy Bebop. Quite the gearshift from ghibli, but imaginative characters and plot plot nonetheless. Different style too.

Naruto Shippuden has some of the best story lines ever written (Sasuke and Itachi, for anyone who knows)
Death Note is one of my favourite series ever.
Code Geass (and R2) was ok.. The end was a fantastic twist.
Attack on Titan well worth a watch.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a brilliant film.
And of course.. most of Studio Ghibli films.
I watched another film the other night.. think it was called "Wold Children" or something like that.. was alright.. had a studio ghibli-esque feel to it.

The EADD Weeb Thread

This is a thread for all of us who enjoy watching animu, reading mango, and other aspects of JP pop culture, in any state of mind. All the weeaboos.

I'm not as big a weeaboo as I used to be, but I still have a moe appreciation streak. Just look at this.

I only watch anime these days as an antidepressant. To live vicarious happy teenage school lives through cutesy 2D characters. I'm fucked.
