The EADD Weeb Thread (Anime/Manga etc.)

^ no. but have heard good things.

Tis definitely worth a look, got a brilliant soundtrack as well.

I like me a bit of anime/manga. Ao No Exorcist is my favourite manga but I'm yet to see the actual show, and I do like Naruto. Can't go without mentioning Junji Ito either; some of his stuff is genuinely disturbing, such as Hellstar Remina and The Engima of Amigara Fault.

Love that film too, the fight scene in the water is my top part, I didn't follow the plot on the 2nd one though.

I like the serie, Stand Alone Complex, much better than the films imo.

Also I forgot Fooly Cooly(FLCL), absolutely brilliant, amazing soundtrack by The Pillows, really interesting anime, only six episodes though.

Studio Ghibli rocks!

I'd never watched any anime before I met my present gf. Princess Mononoke was my first & I loved it. Some Japanese animation is AMAZING to watch tripping, although some is also pretty freaky..!

I havent got into any series yet but it's on the cards. When winter sets in I'll be watching more movies & series generally.

FLCL had me hooked from the first episode, no matter how many times I've watched it I still don't know what's went on completely :D

Mrs Curious used to be into manga and anime but she seems to have run out of stuff to watch. Can anyone recommend any girl-friendly anime to ease her back into it? Last one she watched and enjoyed was Chobits (just to give an example of the kind of stuff she likes).

the women that go for me usually regard animes the same way they do my computer games....

back on topic, FMA was awesome, so was evangelion. avatar was also good, though not japanese per se.
havent watched a series in a long time... might pick one up...

i love the quirky weird mythology some manga/anime worlds have. worlds away from tolkien's orcs and elves

you mean the stuff that doesn't involve tentacle rape?

[edit]
the women i normally go for would punch me if i tried to give them girl friendly manga
GOOD! - 'girl-friendly' anything sounds like a bad idea from the off.

Nora Ephron doesn't exist in manga form as far as I know. And most females I know loathe Nora Ephron anyway.

I loved chobits, was my k hole anime for a long time :)
Some I would recommend - vampire knight, fruits basket, lucky star (funny and confusing at time but in a good way) the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya (the series and movie are outstanding)
If she wants a Bold anime, she could try B gata H Kei or Koe De Oshigoto (only 2 episodes made but they are full of funny incidents, one anime I laughed from start to finish, not for the non semi-perverted)

As for mangas, try reading Akira, the story expands so much more than in the film, it's amazing

A big pile of ket and the film version of Akira is definitely an interesting one. Something I'd recommend to even people who don't like anime but like their movies and k, even better if you haven't seen it before.

haha afro samurai for some reason reminds me of Samurai Jack!

hehe i used to love the scotish accent guy in samurai jack.

Started watching a new series called Ben-to

Basically, bentos are like boxed lunches in Japan, and upon arriving at them, at the right time, if the sales clerk appears and puts on half price stickers, a fight to the death for the bento occurs between various people in this town that, well, just seriously want cheap bento

Sounds stupid yea? But it's managed to keep me gripped to the story now still on episode 7, very funny and silly, for fans of the likes of high school of the dead or black lagoon
