Hmmm, i've always wondered this, do fish have memories? Cause they must get pretty bored swimming around in the same place over and over.

As for the name, call him 'fish'.

Fish are notorious for there few second memory.

However I did have a fish tank a few years ago and the algae eater fish that went along the bottom of the tank liked to wink at me, I am sure he remembered me.

Actually a lot of animals like to wink at me, im being serious about that too.

Fish definitely have a memory. When they hear the automatic feeder thing grinding into life they run (swim) to the top of the tank even before it empties out any food.

And if I 'manually' feed them for a few days, they get used to this and give me a WELCOME when they see me cos they know they're gonna get fed. :D

Thanks for that, now i'm definately against getting a fish. They must get very bored! I think people just under-estimate the intelligence of fish to justify getting one or to justify fishing.

^ agreed cats are the superior pet. Relatively low maintenance too.

I suppose if you had a big aquarium with many exotic fish it could be quite pleasant. But i never understood goldfish.

Cats are more intelligent than dogs / more independent. Dogs can make a lot of noise. So cause of that i would say cats>dogs> fish. Still wouldn't mind having a dog either though. %)
