The EADD Metathread - "HR approach to dangerous drugs" branch

And yeah, a sticky HR thread would be extremely uncontroversial. And a piece of piss to set up and maintain. The main person we seem to have to appease here seems to be Si Ingwe :D Not to put you on the spot Si, but how does this grab you? How are feeling about this shit after quite a lot of discussion has taken place?

Maybe my fears & unjustified & I'm doubting myself now. But the statistics speak for themselves, whether there's a reason for them I know not.

I'm pleased to have raised that discussion, not pleased to be drawing flack for it. But fuck it, I've got plenty backbone, I can handle it, I just prefer to avoid confrontation. I didn't really wanna post this morning, I'm happy to let the thread head off down the page. But seeing you asked a direct question.

Anyway, as I said all along, up until the proposition of splitting EADD (which I'm not sure about anyway, might work, might not) I haven't considered what changes might be possible or necessary. I defer to those who's fingers are on the pulse of EADD. I still feel more of an attitude change rather than an administrative one & if I see an opportunity in my travels round EADD to point out the kind of behaviour that worries me I'll point it out without getting all sanctimonious about it, if I can.

I don't think it's entirely fair to suggest I need appeasing, neither does OTW & we're not the only ones anyway, otherwise my comment would not have been made into a thread of it's own in the first place. There's quite a few supportive replies on the first page.

Nontheless, if the consensus has been reached that nothing is wrong, fine by me! Sorry for any tension my post/thread has brought to the board.

You really have nothing to be sorry for. I value your contributions here, even if I don't agree with everything you say.

I have a busy day ahead so I can't talk much today but will catch up with this later.

That might be a good one to borrow and sticky, never seen it myself and would defo be useful. See if they mind us robbing it and then repost it here so we can edit if needed. That one is more geared toward PD by the looks of it.

Opiate itching is VERY common.

No but the context is pretty obvious, isn't it? This is drugs website with a worryingly large number of opiate users after all, & I am clearly not the only one to spot that, as this quote suggests.

I really don't think the OP's referring to heroin. Codeine or DHC would be my guess.

As far as I am aware, ono-one has yet died of itching, so I might ask those inclined to reply to threads such as this in future to consider offering some advise that might help a user of dangerous drugs such as heroin to reduce their consumption in the most polite way possible.

Some may just wish to give the advice the poster asks for. Especially if there's no clear indication that they're planning any real dangerous activity. Surely that's not unreasonable?

I think here are too many people assuming the best & not enough assuming the worst...

And maybe some people are doing too much assuming and not enough reading.

I appreciate that you believe you have people's best interests at heart, but maybe your approach would work better if used selectively, rather than in any thread whatsoever that concerns opioids. Otherwise you may find people just start to ignore it, and you're working against yourself.

Some people have a life outside of the internet, why not try it for yourself?

No, nor is it unreasonable to offer HR advise even when it is not needed, is it?

God forbid, people ignore my posts, oh how awful. This is one of the few opiate threads that I have ever posted in, I would've thought that fairly selective, no? It is however, a perfect example of that about which I complain in the thread that Knock was kind enough to make for me. It illustrates that there are opportunities to offer HR that are being missed because there is too much shit posted that has nothing to do with drugs & just muddies up the waters, exactly as you are doing cristicising my attempts at HR.

Would you like to spend your life trawling through my posts so that you can direct advice to me personally, because unfortunately, I do not have the time to do that & as such my advice may appear a blunt instrument. It's the fact that I am trying that counts. Why on earth you, whoever you are, would want to undermine that is utterly beyond me.

I'm not saying that people ignore your posts; I'm just saying they might if every one of them is irrelevant to their situation.

If you were selecting a thread in which to promulgate your anti-heroin message, maybe you'd be better choosing one that actually mentions heroin?

Trawling through your posts?

Are you saying you don't have the time to read and understand people's posts, yet you'll offer advice that may or may not be relevant anyway? That seems a little odd, and a waste of time to me. Surely you'd accomplish your self-appointed mission easier if you gave pertinent advice?

It's the fact that I am trying that counts. Why on earth you, whoever you are, would want to undermine that is utterly beyond me.

Am I trying to undermine it? Read my posts and you'll see I'm doing nothing of the sort.

All I'm doing is questioning the fact you've posted a huge rant about heroin (and the lack of HR consciousness amongst your fellow posters to boot) in a thread that doesn't once mention heroin.

What's that about?

Hahaha a huge rant Hahaha I had no idea you had a sense of humour, it doesn't come across on the boards much.

Anyway, I am more than happy to discuss the ins & outs of HR posting in EADD by PM if you'd like to mail me. Thanks for your time.

How would you know? You don't actually read the boards! =D

Seeing how successful this has been thus far, I'll give it a miss.

Thanks for your time.

No problem.
