O.K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
And I have become
Comfortably numb.
i think its about heroin.

Shit, how thick of me to take so long for that penny to drop. They kept things very quiet about heroin if they were actually into it. Maybe they were just writing a song about it, im sure they knew many people who were using.
Tbh i dont know much about pink floyd after syd left, apart from their music ofcourse, and the fallout between Gilmour and waters. I want to find out much more about them now. Theyve allways been an interesting band, i dont know why ive never read anything about their post syd years. Gonna have to change that sharpish.
In July 1978, amid a financial turmoil caused by negligent investments, Waters presented the group with two original ideas for their next album. The first was a 90-minute demo with the working title, Bricks in the Wall, and the other would later become Waters' first solo album, The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. Although both Mason and Gilmour were initially cautious, they chose the former to be their next album.[146][nb 34] Bob Ezrin co-produced, and he wrote a forty-page script for the new album.[148] Ezrin based the story on the central figure of Pink—a gestalt character inspired by Waters' childhood experiences, the most notable of which was the death of his father in World War II. This first metaphorical brick led to more problems; Pink would become drug-addled and depressed by the music industry, eventually transforming into a megalomaniac, a development inspired partly by the decline of Syd Barrett. At the end of the album, the increasingly fascist audience would watch as Pink tore down the wall, once again becoming a regular and caring person.[149][nb 35]
I wonder how much of this is fiction and how much of it is kind of autobiograhy.
wtf is a gestalt character ? "something that is made of many parts and yet is somehow more than or different from the combination of its parts; broadly : the general quality or character of something" Thats a hard concept to grasp, i need a concrete example.
I didnt realise that Waters was the main genius and songwriter behind the group, i allways wrongly thought it was Gilmour. He looks more of a genius than waters, but looks can be deceiving eh.
