Sprout thats such a sweet and happy story with such a sad ending, one to break all the childrens hearts in a childrens book. I really dunno with wild animals you'd expect them to have insincts, but i guess if they are reared in a totally safe environment they loose awareness of risks or something. I guess the moral of the story is if you start keeping a squirrel as a pet its not much use releasing him into the wild later. I will genuinely remember that such should a freak occurence ever happen, i quite fancy having a house over run with tamed wild animals, that would be awesome. Yes i am on drugs as im writing this lol. This might happen when i move back out to the countryside at some point when im done with city life.
This is contraDicted in Jack London's fantastic book The Call of The Wild,
SPOLIERS AHEAD
a pet dog, gets kindnapped, brutally treated, gets sold to a husky team in the yukon gold rush as he's a strong and intelligent dog, he gradually becomes the dominant leader of the pack, but he leaves the security after ending up with incompetent dog handlers, he chooses to fight to earn his place to run with the wolves after prooving himself worthy, whilst also dipping into human kindnes and deep bonds when he can. May be a load of sentimental anthromorphic, i think thats the workd, asscribing human charactersitics to dogs, but i listened to the whole thing in one sitting or lying in fact right through the night, as it was so engrossoing.
Another of his books worked the other way White Fang turns from wild wolf to human companion.
