GZA is indeed dope but you're right; Kool G Rap is sick. His pedigree is strong. Look at who else was in the Juice Crew: Kane, Biz Markie, Craig G, BDP...
I'd have to say though, that IMO Masta Ace is one of NY's finest. His flow is silk and he's been around forever.

Scarface is one of the best ever out of the southern US. My other favorite from the south is Outkast. Besides that, I don't find much southern hip hop worth listening to. Any suggestions?

To be honest, barring Outkast I tend to stear clear of Southern rappers.
Just can't seem to get into that style they have, the flow and accent.
Lyrically dubious too.
