I have conjunctivitis. It's a pain in the eye. God knows how that happened and my knee hurts. must go docs tomorrow

My mum used to work in a microbiology lab and she once thought that she had conjunctivitis, had all the symptoms and stuff but it turned out it was Occular Syphilis from the one time she forgot to wear gloves and touched her eye after touching a sample, you probably don't have that though, is probably just conjunctivitis unless you've been getting a lot of spunk in the face recently 8) <3

Whatever it is, I hope it get's better soon.

Two ways of getting it. Getting shit (fecal matter) into the eyes bloodstream, or you have chlamydia.

like your turn of phrase there. I would have put fecal matter (shit). unless of course you were assuming the generalising of shit as any old shit that could enter the eye. Thanks. I will remember now that using one side of the toilet roll for bum wiping and the other side for make up removal is not a good "eye" dea. I was only after me green brownie points as it were. Could not be the chlamidiya "for I am still a virgin" as our lady once said after being visited by the well endowed angel gabriel.

Amazing too. I slept in so missed phoning the docs t get an appt. Then, at about 10 am got an uncontrollable urge to walk up on the off chance that there was an appt. Would you believe that when I got there I walked in and thought "no chance" for the room was full of people of all ages and skin shades. I asked and they said "10.50 we have one" ooh smashing thought I and snapped it up there on the spot. I went home and got a book. Good job n all as I wasn't seen till 11.30. To think the receptionist gave me a "you'd better come back on time" look. I'm a rambler, I 'm a rambler .

and ..........I'm getting an MRI on my knee. That'll be interesting. I hope it doesn't revela anything bad. (yesterday i had the head pain that isn't pain but misery)

I just got results back from a cervical scan I did on monday to try and understand why my old neck injury's been acting up so much lately and they didn't find anything. I'm so pissed off, it's been pure torture these past few weeks and now it looks like they're not gonna try to do anything about it. Ffs, it's enough that I haven't had a migraine-less moment for about 4 years, that some cervical is now pressing on the vagus nerve which makes me insomniaque and faint every other day, that I'll probably never be able to do sports again, and that I get weird cramps in my neck/back/arms a few times a day, but now I can barely go 24 hours without at least one of them being comprised of being stuck in bed in agony :( and they don't know why...I hate this. Back when I had the accident they put me on tetrazepam/oxy but I had to stop cuz I couldn't stick to my script. It was okay sucking up the pain until these past few weeks, I've been trying but I seriously can't do it :(
Anyway, now I'm being given temazepam which scares me because I don't wanna go through benzo hell again, and hydros which are honestly pointless considering I do heroin. And because of all this I've been self-medicating with the heroin, which just isn't good.
/end rant
Blargh.

A wise man once said "man with itchy bum, wakes up with smelly finger"

So, you could have itched your rusty sherrifs badge, then rubbed your glassball.

roganjosh: that sounds truly awful, glad you made it through. Tis awesome that you can still lead a normal life after all that.

I am in a fuckton of pain tonight, complete with rather violent muscle spasms through my face

Never had chlamydia afaik. Don't think boys show many symptoms though so maybe I have? Meh. I have no symptoms.

Aside from fukkin crippling back pain :!

Has been really nasty this week. Probably cos am on me strict script taper week. Fukkin ridiculous that I even need to allow for taper weeks cos I get nowhere near enough analgesics to last the month. Doc is aware of the fact and has passed me on to a proper pain clinic but is taking months. At least he says he doesn't believe that it's drug-seeking which is probably a big step and the only reason I got the referral. Only took 30-odd years of medical notes to demonstrate I'm not just mad keen on fukkin codeine and NSAIDs 8)

Back feels like there's a 6" zigzag split right across the middle. Horizontally. Is the weirdest sensation. And none too pleasant. Got some belting bargains at the shop this week but carrying it home was possibly a mistake. That's two fukkin carrierbags for ten minutes. And took half an hour to recover. Was retching with the pain - not done that in ages. Can't even begin to imagine how some of y'all cope with the properly painful stuffs mentioned here. So willl stop whining and go lie down ferra while. Lil stretchy afore me lil snoozy methinks.

Sounds rough Shambles, hopefully you can get some proper pain meds sorted. I remember reading before that the codeine/tram just don't cut it. Sadly no GP will give out much else themselves without a specialist referral.

One thing about pain though - it is amazing how used one can get to even very high levels of pain and discomfort. Resilience really shows when there's not a choice in the matter.

Agreed, it's pretty impressive how little you'll notice it after a while when you don't have a choice in dealing with it anyway. It barely even comes to mind anymore. Good luck Shambles!

I went to a pain clinic Shambles.
I
They gave me a TENS machine for my fucked lower back muscles, they actually quite good for muscle pain if you give them a chance. Then he put me on Amitrip (sp) for the bone pain, I'm on 2 10mg, again within a week they made a difference, I get no side affects, but they normally start you on it, but there are other ones if you get side affects. And soon I'm going to start gabapetin, not sure what dose, but not all the time just for when its bad.

And on top I have some tramadol just but they don't do much.

This works a lot better prescription morphine ever really did tbh. Opiates can be surprisingly ineffective for some types of pain. Well within the limits of what A Dr will prescribe.

^ Am fairly open-minded about treatment options. If summat works it works. I know from experience that opioids do work for me though - was far more productive as a junky than at any other time :D

Have also been tried an a gazillion combinations of meds over the years - plus stuff I've sought out and tried myself - so drug options are pretty limited now. Not tried gabapentin yet and really don't fancy it longterm but would be willing to try it. No chance of going back on tramadol. Amytriptaline is an odd choice for bone pain. Was scripted it years ago for depression and insomnia but I get horrendous side-effects from it so that's a no-no. Currently get diazepam to help relax muscles which does help ease things a bit. Probably only get that cos I've been scripted it for donkey's years for anxiety anyway and have mentioned several times to various docs that it does help ease muscle tension. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see what they offer at the clinic. And if worse comes to worst I'll just have to go back on bupe which should be pretty easy to do in my situation.

Being used to it is a bit of a curse, methinks. Can easily be confused with it not being all that bad cos you don't seem to make enough of a fuss. I've had this back problem my whole life - had to have loads of time off school with it too - so don't really kick up much of a fuss aside from a bit of moaning now and then.

When you're a kid docs just say it's either trying to blag time off school or growing pains. In me teens/twenties docs thought I was simply drugseeking (which I kinda was but cos I was seeking drugs that worked). Since I came off the scag I've been pretty scrupulous about not taking the piss with the meds I do get - never ask for more but do remind the doc everytime I go that they just don't help enough to make a huge difference. Unless I can get some proper - and more to the point reliable - pain relief there's no way I could ever work full-time (or even part-time really) cos I never know when I'm gonna feel comfortable enough to actually do owt properly. Seems ridiculous now that it's the only real issue that's keeping me stuck on the sick. Is shite having no money, no prospect of ever having money, debts coming out me arse, stuck in a shitey town I don't want to be, etc, etc, whingeywhingeywhinewhinemoan, etc.

But at least I've got a referral to a specialist pain clinic now. Just a bloody long wait to actually get an appointment 8)

Im tired so be quick.

Yeah so amitrip ain't good for you then they will have other stuff. I was like what that's for depression, they said just try it! So I hope drugs which are similar are good for you? :-)

Yeah heroin sorted my pain! But codeine and morphine prescribed was not as effective as my current 'stuff'

TENs machine can be v good.

All the best :-)

Not quick but will reply anyway...

I don't get on with any tricyclics so ain't even going down that route.

Heroin ≠ codeine ≠ morphine. I find morphine to be shite for anlagesia unless at insanely high dose, codeine okay but not for long, heroin to piss over both. Also, fentanyl is acceptable but not all that, oxcodone is very good but pretty weaksauce and DHC reasonable at best. Methadone is atrocious for pain but bupe is not so bad... Could go on ;)

Not tried the TENs gizmo but would be willing to try. But unless it works minor miracles it's gonna have to be opi's. They don't get a choice in this matter any more.

The pain Dr said so what you want? He was open to opiates but said to try others first, but as you know what works for you happy days! I believe a GP is a lot happier to prescribe opiates or any pain meds come to think of it to an ex opiate abuser, even with a history of back problems with surgery. Yeah when I was on bupe above 6 mg did quite well for the pain.

Its more pain management really. 'Pain 'killer' can be a bit mix leading.
