Cannabis (copious amounts, smoked), ginger (in tea) and lying down (er... on a bed) worked for me. The lying down may seem difficult given the stimulant effects but on my last large dose I managed to find a spot by a window where I could look at the clouds, and the clouds were certainly more distracting than either the stimulation or the (gradually fading) nausea.

Having primarily taken higher doses and found sleeping afterwards difficult, I noticed something odd on a smaller (20-25mg) dose this weekend. I remember lying on my bed having a few joints, completely absorbed in music. I was most definitely not drowsy at this time; in fact I'd only dosed at about 16:30 that day, and this was somewhere around 3am. Next thing I know the sun's up, the stereo and TV are off and my skinning up materials, along with the album cover I'd been admiring, are neatly placed by my bed! Obviously this was not my handiwork but that of my far-too-tolerant girlfriend, who had spent most of the evening soberly indulging my antics.

I know this has been mentioned in a previous post. Any thoughts as to what this is? Is it something to do with the serotonin activity leading to seamless sleep (obviously this is a bit suspect, since higher doses are almost impossible to sleep on without help) or did I merely slip into a trance and then eventually nod off? I'm know for certain it's not the weed, though I did drink a bit of brandy (stupid, I know) in lieu of benzos. Very odd.

Nothing wrong with having a drink on aMT. Sounds like the weed just helped you nod off. Being a smaller dose, perhaps it wasn't quite stimulating enough to stop you.

Treacle, you're probably right. The stuff makes it impossible to feel stoned, but not impossible to be stoned I suppose.

I do tend to keep the drinking to the tail-end of the trip, mainly because other, non-alcoholic drinks taste so good on it! Reminds me of finding a long-forgotten can of Israeli Kosher Coke in the middle of a mushroom trip, drinking it and then feeling thankful to whatever rabbi blessed it - it tasted that good. If I were actually Jewish then it wouldn't have been so unusual...

I take it you weren't smoking cannabis along with it? As with most things, I smoke along with it so I can imagine the come-up being less pleasant without it. I also imagine it being a lot less visual for people who don't smoke. Glad you enjoyed it with a benzo, but I'd also recommend taking a slightly bigger initial dose; I always feel uncomfortable, even on MDMA, if my initial dose is too small - a bit like being on the threshold of something but with the negative physical symptoms outweighing any euphoria. I think this was mentioned once or twice in the previous thread. If a benzo works for you though, then do it!

I took 11mg at 12pm and felt it within 15mins.Waited till 0145 and felt fine so took another 23mg. The next 2 hours my heart was in my mouth. No sickness or running to toilet but incredible anxiousness. At 0345 the fear subsided but I was left with the negative feeling of lsd with none of the positives. Absolutely no visuals or visual distortion of any kind. At 4.45 I got fed up with the feeling and took 10mg diazepam. Oh man then I felt incredible like E from years ago. Next time I take this I am going to take it with 10mg diaz again and I bet I will love every minute of it. Grey stuff capped.

It's your choice obviously, but I'd say don't bother with the benzo - just take more to start with (and don't stagger the dose) - 35mg upwards (in one go) is always euphoric for me. I reckon you may have felt good later on even without taking the benzo (four hours in is usually where my euphoria is peaking). The initial two hours is always a little wobbly (either with nausea, restlessness or even anxiety), but ride this out and the next 8 hours should be nicer. (if you stagger the dose, you may get the anxiety for longer)

You'll probably be less anxious next time anyway (first time nerves with a new substance does have an effect on me)

Also it sounds like mixing it with ket could be very fun, maybe on the tail end of the high -- anyone tried this?

yes! one of my favourite drug experiences ever was ket when the aMT started getting a bit trippy, really kicks in the psychedelic edge, great combo :D

I think you both may be correct in the higher dose idea but one of the things that made me anxious was the sheer strength of it. Now that I know the diaz will help me though it will give me the courage to try the higher dose next time.

Maybe if it's a courage thing you shouldn't jump in to a huge dose - amt is a gentle psych, but it is a psych (fear isn't the best set). Maybe just creep the dose up slowly - doing it with (close) friends is always good for courage too.

I don't take benzos or know how they work, but wouldn't it just counteract the effect of the amt? (to make it like a lower dose)

Snorting benzos: maximum pain, completely non-existent reward.

Still, at least you didn't snort the aMT, meaning you didn't get the 'caustic soda and dogshit' feeling in your nostril.

^^It would dull the experience, we've had epic debates as to whether its worth taking a benzo before tripping as opposed to just saving them for when it goes bad. Do whatever you want, but as mentioned set & setting is the most important thing.

and ^ he did snort the amt..

Ugh, should have read more carefully.

I'd say if you're going to shove this in any orifice then the smell of the stuff is a good indicator of which one you should opt for.

I agree that the grey stuff going round doesn't smell half bad. Your mate should thank you for saving his tastebuds - this stuff made my cheap brandy taste cheaper. I imagine crushed Tramadol, ayahuasca and Rola Cola wouldn't match it. I'll bet there's at least one sicko on this forum who loves the taste of it though!

It took a while but I got it...

Glad to see you weren't actually snorting diaz (and wasting money), but I'll bet you don't want the aMT up your nose again in a hurry. Not surprised it brought you down; there's something about a burning nasal cavity that really takes the shine off an evening. ;)

Benzos give you a calm tranquil feeling like being stoned on some mellow weed.

I knew I could feel good things but the underlying anxiety was there so when I took the benzo it was sheer bliss. I get very little effect from the benzo drug wise, so what I was feeling was the amt working on a calmed down person. Like someone said though, perhaps if I`d waited just a little while longer, the fear would have subsided.

I just thought that because some people say to take a benzo if you're freaking out on a trip to bring you down - i had the idea that the neuro-chemicals involved would be working against each other (like the dopamine trying to stimulate while GABA is trying to slow down - maybe they cancel each other out in some way?)

I see where you're coming from, Vurtual. I'm sure one of the more pharmacologically-minded folks around here is better qualified to answer, but on an anecdotal level I used to drop a low dose of diazepam whilst tripping on acid regularly. Admittedly my benzo tolerance was up by this time, but it never seemed to detract from the trip much, if at all. As far as I'm aware though, Chlorpromazine (aka Thorazine) is the best-known trip-stopper. It's also the only pharmaceutical I've ever willingly thrown in the bin, having had the misfortune to be prescribed it by an arse of a GP.

Iy doesn't stop the trip but can turn it in a different directio. For instance, a main cause of a bad trip is anxiety which is exactly what benzodiazipines are used to treat. In effect you are "treating" the cause of the bad trip.
