Just checked my orangey stuff and in fact it says freebase on the label! Never noticed that before. Might be wrong, of course!
 
That would be an even easier way to check than the tinfoilly t'ing then =D

I think the oral dose is slightly lower for freebase but don't recall specifics. There's probably a subthread on it in the PD Index though. Other than that it just means you can vape it. Unsure of the plugging thang - think it may still work but isn't as effective as HCl. Probably best to poke around PD passages for such detail. Or wait till someone with better memory and/or knowledge to pop in.
 
just had a whiz with the tin foil and the stuff i have is the freebase. Has anyone got much experience smoking this?
 
I've smoked a bit of freebase here and there and am quite the fan. It's not to all tastes, mind. I like vaping it cos it kicks in so much quicker (but still pretty slowly) and has none of the physical ickiness issues. Some find it reduces the duration but I find that's not always the case - was wasted for over 24h first time I vaped it (~15mg from memory, but combo'd with LSD and MDMA (and possible a 2C-x)). It's considerably more stimulating when vaped and many would say less trippy (although still pleasingly wibblywobbly).

Be careful how much you smoke cos it takes a good hour or more to kick in fully and packs a lotta punch - way more potent than oral/rectal dosing. Again. probably best to check the PD Index and look for the "aMT Dosage & Routes of Administration" subthread or summat with similar title. Enjoy :)

If it doesn't say on the bag the easiest way would be to see if it's soluble in water. Just add a few specs to water and the freebase just floats around on the top whilst the HCL should dissolve.

The freebase is stronger mg for mg, something to do with the weight of the HCL molecule or something along those line (I'm no chemist), think it was 20% stronger if I'm remembering correctly.

Plugging vs oral - potency is about the same but with plugging I find the come up is a lot smother and faster, and the whole experience just feels 'cleaner', overall just less jittery/nauseous.

As for plugging, the freebase really needs to be converted. It doesn't dissolve in water so makes it a pain getting up there, and I've seen reports of people saying it can be caustic (which you don't want in you're pooper!). 50mg dissolves in 1ml of white vinegar mixed with 1ml of water, and gives very little burn.

So, chaps, I need your help.

I bought myself a little bit of aMT this week, hoping to reintroduce myself to psychedelics after a long break (bar an awful experience with a nasty cup of mushroom tea last year) and I ripped open the package with glee and then nearly fainted from the godawful smell that I've heard so much about. I opened it up, had a quick look (basically to confirm the colour of the stuff and that the smell was coming from inside the bag!) sealed the baggie back up, put it in another ziplock baggie, could still smell it so put it in ANOTHER baggie, then put the triple-bagged stuff inside a tupperware container, which I shoved in a drawer. When I open the drawer, the smell still hits you like a brick to the face, so I assume that it's able to somehow pass through plastic... Do I need to put it in a cake tin or what? How do you all store it? (or do you not care?) How do you get it in you? Surely no-one snorts this stuff! I've had a brief flick through this thread and plugging seems popular, however it's not something I'm quite ready to try yet ;)

Secondly, my scales are only accurate to 0.01g. I am aware this puts me in a bit of a pickle as far as harm reduction is concerned, my method of dosage would be to measure out 90-100mg and then divide into four hopefully equal portions, but i know this could end up with portions anywhere between 15 and 40mg :S Has anyone got any tips in this particular area? Besides buy new scales, obviously! (on my to-do list, honest ;) )

Buy new scales! milligrams are cheap.

Plug it! what does it mean, "not ready to try"? Does it mean you are not sure of your sexuality?

I absolutely intend to buy new scales. I am, however, lazy, forgetful, and at this exact moment, skint :P

As for not being sure of my sexuality, pah! What a ridiculous comment. It's the social etiquette that's bothering me! I was considering taking the aMT to a party I'm going to next week, and sharing with some of my friends who I've not seen for a while (all having done psychedelics before, don't worry) How does one approach the subject with friends? Do you all nip off to the loo in turn for some privacy, or do you all just go for it round the kitchen table? Bottoms up, as it were :P
 
Firstly, buy new scales. My £15 eBay jobbies did the job just dandily for a good 3-4 years before going a bit wonky (and even then only cos I knocked a pint of beer over 'em). Exensive ones may be ideal but cheapo ones are way better than trying to blag it with 0.01 jobbies.

Secondly, plugging ftw <3

Thirdly, oral dosing is fine. Just wrap it in a rizla and try not to belch for a while after swallowing ;)

Fourthly, don't snort it. Just don't :|

Fifthly, aMT is probably forgiving enough to get away with splitting ~100mg into four but obviously less than ideal. For the sake of £15...

Sixthly, welcome back to Swirlsville %)

PS: Seventhly, party plugging is a great idea. Kinda depends on how close the friendships are I spose. Nipping to the loo is probably the way to go under such circumstance though. And don't share syringes ;)

I understand your etiquette concerns. Your asking how one can take aMT without milligram scales, and without plugging. You're kinda making it awkward!

You could make a fun party pack with oral syringes and premeasured aMT doses!

If you're scale is not capable of milligram accuracy then it must round the numbers. What is reported as a 0.03g dose might be anywhere from 25mg to 35mg, roughly. I suppose it's not so bad. aMT is not so dose sensitive that it matters that much. Indeed, it's so unpredictable and subjective, you might say accuracy is an illusion!
 
Fifteen quid for milligram scales? Sounds like an absolute bargain to me! I must admit, I haven't done much research, I worked in a head shop about ten years ago and my scales cost me fifty then, so I figured I'd end up paying a similar amount. Will definitely have to give it a look tomorrow when I've not drunk quite so much wine :P

I love the people in question with all my heart. We've been in some pretty messy situations together, been through some tough times, been through some amazing times. Truly life-changing beautiful stuff. But we're all incredibly reserved and polite people until we're hammered, and by that point, is a 12 hour trip the right thing to embark on? Hence the need for careful planning... think the rizla route is the way to go, definitely. Any bum fun is likely to take place after we've already ingested :P

That sounds like the kind of hilarious idea that my little group of friends would love to get behind. Best not suggest it to the crafty one of our group, otherwise the syringes will be perfectly gift wrapped with curled satin ribbons and handwritten vintage-styled gift tags with everyones' names on. Then again, maybe I should text her now... hahaha :D
 
Right, milligram scales purchased! Bless you ebay... should be here within the week, specified fast postage instead of ~30 days from china... hope they're going to be of sufficient quality!

Friends not yet approached about plugging party, but one step at a time guys, yeah? ;)
