Ok, well it's obvious what kind of concerts and fest's people can easily find LSD and alot of other psychedelics at.(i wont mention for that might remotely be mentioning sources
) and it seems like an overwhelming majority of psych lovers also love one genre of music. I just thought it would be interesting to hear you're tastes in music are.
EDIT(This was originally for pyschedelics but now that its in DC maybe list your drug of choice and music taste)
I somewhat fit the stereotype as some of my favorite bands are:
STS9
Phish
Umphrey's mcgee
keller williams
yonder mountain
However some of my other favorite bands/artists are:
Aesop rock
bob dylan
clapton
brother ali
Led zeppelin(actually my favorite band)
Method man
Notorious B.I.G.
Red hot chilli peppers
Rolling stones (honerable mention to favorite band)
Sage francis
steve miller band
tom petty
WU-TANG CLAN, haha can't get enough
Just wondering what drug or group of drugs you guys think best aids in creativity; in this case, the making of music. A lot of artists use weed for creative purposes, like The Pharcyde, Cypress Hill, and Bob Marley, etc. while others like some of the newer age and down South rappers use narcotic cough syrup and pills. There have also been some prominent speed-using artists like Lou Reed or drinkers like Janis Joplin and a whole host of '60s bands that used LSD "on the job".
I know it's really not any one drug that "makes the music", but some of the artists who use one certain substance do have similarities in their sound. So what do you think?
My drugs of choice are opiates (Hydrocodone and Codeine), but I have mixed feelings about the music of regular opiate users. Nirvana was great, but the whole DJ Screw Texas music really sucks, imo. I think weed leads to the best overall sound across the board. Opinions?
To expand the original question: what music do you associate with drugs and which music do you most like to listen to when you're high?
For me, the best all-around music for drugs is trance.
These few tracks are synonymous with cocaine euphoria for me:
Solarforce - Kaleidoscope
a segment from 'SLY ONE presents - EUPHORASM Vol. 3 'A Celebration''
another segment from 'SLY ONE presents - EUPHORASM Vol. 3 'A Celebration''
I swear, they sound a little bit slower now, but they give me some really fun flashblacks. Glimpses of insane euphoria.
And for an LSD trip - "Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon".
