Eating shit as per fuckin usual...
Environmental activists? Tech savvy schoolboys? Passive aggressive terrorists? Aliens?

You decide.

This whole story is fascinating. A simple drone can grind one of the busiest airports in the world to a halt.

I really hope it is down to environmental activists - way to make a point!!

Although I feel for the people who have legitimate reasons to travel, I have zero sympathy for the likes of the woman interviewed on the BBC who wants to bring back hanging for the perpetrators because they've ruined her trip to Lapland to see santa clause...

If I was a pro hacker I would defo fuck with infastructure just because i could... whoever is behind is might have already been captured but they might not say for a number of reasons I reckon thats why they brought the military in to try and track who is controlling the drones

Apparently a man and woman are in custody and being questioned. No further details have been released.

Ive just been reading about it. Apparently they've now got the army in to use EW countermeasures to block drones. Similar to what we used in Afghanistan and Iraq to block radio detonated IEDs (which were less than useless to devices detonated by a simple command wire but that's another story)....Also, some fancy radar system developed by the Israelis that can spot even tiny drones as they enter the airspace...

Edit...just seen comment by @Pete556 who mentions the same thing.

Lol if it was me who did it I would be shitting myself but if they got away with it good on them its basically like some average joe nerd held up an entire airspace thats impressive anyone remember that white British kid a few years who had aspergers, he hacked into the US militaries classified site and extradited.

If they do convict anyone, damn, I'd not like to be them.

They are going to get strung up by the balls over a crocodile-pit to make an example of them for everybody to see. It'll be political as well as jurisdictional.

And any die-hard jihadi, they'll likely as not find a way round it, the likes of countermeasures to jamming, I mean.

Surprising nobody has actually tried it so far. Hell, even an unguided, dumb-fire missile salvo fired from beyond the range of the jamming. The drone only has to carry the payload into the air and launch it.

Military electronic countermeasures are incredibly sophisticated. The odds of any jihadi finding a way around them are effectively zero.

If they were unable to find a way around them in Iraq with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (Iranian Special Forces) helping them then they aren't gonna be able to manage it here.

^Hey apocalypse that's what I thought but I wonder if some terrorists or isis could launch a 'swarm of drones like in call of duty their would be so many and they are small little shits to lol maybe this could be the start of a new technical revolution just like radar was made to track the German fighter planes you never know the government's got to do something though just think of all those pissed off people who missed they're flights am I a bad person because I feel good that I am at home in the warmth which hundreds of thousands of people are stranded ?

The easiest way around them would be to construct a drone that is wire guided along the same lines as the Milan anti-tank missile that trails a 1km long length if wire behind it to pass the signal along to guide it onto it's target and the way a command wire IED is detonated.

Countermeasures only block radio waves and are useless against something guided by a length of copper wire
