The Doof Thread

Hey BeBop, check out the NSW section of Australiens, there's a few good parties coming up.
If transport isn't an issue for you and you don't have mates interested in going with you, you could always post up on Australiens offering lifts to others if you're comfortable with that. It's a good way to meet people and get into the party spirit on the drive out there.

It can get freakin cold and considering the next party is out west, it's likely to be freezing but i guess it depends on how the cold affects you. Just take lotsa warm clothes and if it gets too cold, dance harder!
Or seek out the Village, we always have a big fire cranking.

We learnt the hard way at Rainbow Serpent be careful who you get a lift with off the internet hey. We got a lift to RSF with some people we met on the net and were told by the people we came with they were leaving at 6am on australia day to drive back to Sydney. We caught them at 6pm the night before with their car packed up and looking like they were about to drive off without us! They even had a dodgy excuse prepared - Something about a job opportunity and they had to leave straight away for and we were dumped at a train station in Melbourne to spend the night. Its like seriously theres hardly any mobile phone reception here and you want us to believe that?! We got off lucky, another person who came with us and didn't know them well either, was also told the same 6am story and was left behind to find us gone without him.

the lifts from randoms on the net I've gotten over the years haven't been all bad. The guys we got a lift to Dragon Dreaming with last year were nice and I still keep in touch with them. One year I got a lift to a doof with a carload of goths - and also had to listen to Tool, an album by album debate on which was their best, what year was Tool's best tour and why I should go see them next time they're in town the entire 3hr drive there. Got there and Im like ok, tell you what, I'll take your word for it I haven't lived until I've seen them live and next time Tool are in town I'll be the first person buying a ticket to their concert. Can we listen to something else on the way back?

Just got tickets to Dragon Dreaming 2010!!!

SOUNDS LIKE BLISS :-)

Not everyone's cup of tea though....

Yay, TOOL!

haha sounds great to me!! Tool are and will always be my favourite band (ever since i was 14 years old) and am now 23 and still love em. Can't go past the live version of Pushit in Salival..that takes me on a journey every single time i listen to it!

Anyway about lifts from randoms....although there are some good people out there, i'd be cautious. A lot of drugs are taken at rainbow and this can change the way some people think. Can make some people very apathetic and they may not care if they leave you behind or not.

^^ Hopefully this wouldn't happen, but i'd be extremely hessitant about catching a lift with someone i do not know. Not that hard to save up a few bucks and hire-a-bomb for the weekend if you don't have your own wheels.

Does anyone know what the next doof in Vic will be? Ever since royal fell through I've been itching to doof.

Next rave/over night doof is this : http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=513762114&success=1#!/event.php?eid=340473312152&ref=ts

Next 3 day doof will be the Ostara Festival september 17, 18, 19 (from memory). Usually held in the Otways ranges, but i think it's changing sites. May still be in the area, but i can't remember.

Sign up to oztrance.net (you need to email admins to get permission to join. details are listen on website of how to do this). You'll get all the doofing events on that forum.

I sure hope Ostara site change is a myth

The arts retreat is such a nice place for that doof

I know there was a line of cars held up for hours on the Friday last year on a barely 2 lane track through the Otways, but still...

They should just keep it small and increase ticket price. It went from 800 people the year before last to 3000 last year!

Ostara has come to be my favorite doof due to location and size

Anything good coming up in NSW more specifically a couple of hours from Sydney?

Dude check out the australiens website for all your doofing needs. There are also various groups on facebook so if you see a party that you like the look of on australiens, search it on facebook and join the group :)

Thanks for the tip!!

I was hoping to get some inside info on which ones are the best production/speaker/installation wise and whether there are any to avoid for whatever reason.....

^^ Nope, they're pretty much all good and worth going to :)
I mean, like, you can tell which ones are the bigger parties, you know, the 3 or 4-dayers etc. And some of the 1-nighters are pretty low-key events. But you can tell that a bit from the description on the australiens events page.

Oh man, I can't believe it's almost that time of year again for Earthdance, just two more months, the one over here in Perth is gonna be a bit smaller then last-year :( The shire at the last place we used didn't take to kindly to the amount of people and substance use..

Hopefully at some point i can check out ED in the eastern states when im next over there! :)

Hey man, unfortunately at this time i'm unaware of the location.. hopefully closer then the last two years :)

I've been informed that the tickets should be available sometime this month in the next few weeks, there's a store in Fremantle called Omkara within the Atwell Arcade that will be selling them.. you can probably ask there for any more info.

Last year we had roughly 1200+, this year there aiming for a smaller one, around 500'ish. A few of the organizers of the last few have gone to pursue other endevours, so it will be an entirely different setup im guessing.
