You will FREEZE without them, literally.

Made the mistake of not bringing some for my first Royal, and first doof, back in '06.

So yeah, definately get some happening. Rainbow was cold at night, but that doesn't compare to the chill at a doof in the ful swing of winter.

Hope to catch you on the dancefloor man, the lineup is absolutely fantastic =D
 
aawww i wanna go to royal - looks awesomeness.... wanna start doofing in WA but dont really know anyone in the scene / anyone to go with. time to meet peoples :D
 
Are Doofs becoming too big?

With Royal Doof being cancelled/transferred to Psyfari and several others being cancelled at short notice, I guess I'd like to know why? The organisers have stated the inablity to get council permits or the sudden increase in cost for permits plus security plus first aid. Put is it the councils fault or are doofs becoming too poular for their own good? Lets ignore the short notice of concellations and start to question why permits are required in the first place. Surely if its a free/non profit party it shouldn't need council approval. Maybe +1000 people Doofs are no longer sustainable and it is time for smaller more frequent parties?

Personally I love the decor at Doofs, but if given the choice I'd be more than happy for a smaller event without all the trappings that Doofing seems to warrant. Perhaps if more people went bush better prepared we wouldn't need to worry about public liability and the like. I bet the pioneers of the Doof scene would shake their heads (most likely at 180bpm) at the need for security and over the top preparations to simply go camping and listen to tunes. Too often I see people arrive with no water or shelter and expect everything to be taken care of for them. Why should organises have to take responsibilty for these idiots? If you need security then perhaps you are attracting the wrong crowd.
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to smaller events as you say. Most likely short notice warehouse type events may be required.

In fact it would need to be more like a co-operative where by people who have access to the various components such as venue, sound system, lighting etc etc all step in rather than having one person (or business entity) source those same components. When you start having to quote ABN's and PI&L policy numbers things are already going to be to difficult
 
Sorry if this question is out of place.

As some of you know royal doof has been kind of cancelled and they are having the event at roxanne parlour, CBD. I was wondering, if i wanted to get a ticket for this is it too late or can i just try my luck on the door? what do you think the chances are?

psytaco - I have heard that tickets awill be available on the door but they are suggesting you get there early (doors open at 8pm) as the venue is limited capacity and its first come first served.

Taliana - you clearly aren't going to the right doofs then ;)

Hi knickers, welcome to bluelight :)

There aren't a lot of event details posted on bluelight but if you keep your ear to the ground I'm sure you'll find your way to some up here. What kind of events are you interested in? Doofs in particular or any ranges of music? From what I've seen there are a fair few smaller psy events in the city & valley itself pretty regularly now (often at the Step Inn).

Just off the top of my head some of the events coming up are "Nocturnal Delusions" at the step inn on the 19th of June, a Winter Solstice party on June 26, and John 00 Flemming playing at "Liberate" in the valley on the 10th of August.

You could try popping into gooble warming over in west end, rockinghorse in the city, or one of the butter beats stores and seeing if they have any flyers for upcoming parties?

Otherwise there's another Oz Trance forum that lists a fair few.... or you could always try facebook? *chuckles* 8)


Edit: actually this should probably be in the doof thread.... can a mod pretty please merge this over there? :D
 
^ Good thinking, done. Hi knickers666, welcome to Bluelight. Although Bluelight isn't the internets central doofing information website, there are quite a few active posters who are also active doofers. Hopefully you'll get that information in this thread.

Otherwise Oztrance or australiens would probably be your best bet.

Winter Solstice on the weekend of the 26th June is the next one in SEQ. The exact location hasn't been announce (well to me any way) but it is 1.5-2 hours west of Brisbane. Think Gatton way from experience. More info can be found here.

Other than that I'd suggest you check out oztrance.net. They are not the definitive list of doofs but it has an extensive event forum for Australia.
 
n30: you see those (called a cairn) at a heap of doofs in SEQ :) I remember going to doofs in the Sunshine Coast hinterland (Belthorpe) that had a freshwater creek running through the property - the creekbed was predominately river rock, and people would build cairns along the creek bed - so beautiful! <3

my last couple of experiences on LSD were not soooo good..
but i wouldnt mind checking out a doof on shrooms..

I've got cdj 900's + Allen & Heath Xone92 (SEXY) :)

I mainly mix Trance, Tech Trance, Hardstyle and Gabber.. But have mixed psytrance a few times for my mates who love it..

How does one get a set at a doof?

Do the DJ's trip at the same time as they mix?
