Making this thread cos cant find the big one, anyway yesterday at the jobcentre i was told because i have signed on just as my work programme has come to end i am being treated as a Work programme finisher. Despite the fact i aint signed on for a year. I will be forced to do mandatory work what the fuck. So basically im gonna be treated like shite and this is gonna bring the psycho out of me.

How the fuck can i get away with this shite, how can i be classed as a work programme finisher. Agrhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If said 'work programme' has 'come to an end', isn't that then a reasonable assumption, that you would be classed as a 'work programme finisher'. Or am I missing something entirely...?

...or get a job or fake an illness to get signed off on the sick. The work programme has been a dismal failiure and I wouldn't be at all surprised if its kicked in to touch after the election, who ever gets in - at one point you had a better chance of getting work if you wer'nt on the WP than on it.
As for universal credit...just waiting for the riots to start - giving people who have no budgeting skills all their money in one monthly cheque is a recipe for disaster.

D'you know something? I heard a whisper that there are some unemployed people out there who do have budgeting skills, simply because they have to in order to get by. I also know people who work full-time and blow their money within a week. Maybe they should be saved from themselves too?

Do we live in a world populated by stereotypes?

Last february i got a job so i had been in the work programme for a year by that point, i lost my job at the end of the november. Didn't sign on till february this year, So im classed as work programme finisher how bull shit is that.

So essentially for being made redundant i'm being punished.

I was on the work program about 18 months ago. It did fuck all for me. I had to go on a mandatory course that was supposed to give you a btec qualification in 'finding work', even though I've got qualifications coming out of my ears. Most of the others on the course were mouth breathing imbeciles that were hopelessly unemployable. Long story short, I completed the course, but have I received my btec? Have I fuck. Do I give a shit? Do I fuck. I eventually got a job off my own back with no help from the WP, but they still chalked it up as a success for the program. Fuckin bullshit. The whole thing was an expensive failure...

Shit, what does this mean? I've been on the dole for about six months and I'm being sent on some stupid fucking training course next week.

I don't want to do mandatory work. What's all this about work programmes?

This doesn't sound right at all what they are doing. If you had done a year on the work programme & then got a job which mean't you hadn't signed on for a year then how on earth can they say you have completed the 2 year long work programme?
It may be worth having a look here http://unemploymentmovement.com/forum/index and see if you can get any answers to your problem from the people on there

Yeh i actually made a post there a few hours back Max, they say its wrong too. My advisor is a nasty piece of work the one guy i hoped i wouldn't end up with.

In my experience people that work on those type of programs are petty, power mad cunts that care more about targets than the people they are supposed to be helping - the exception being a guy I knew who agreed with the above and couldn't wait to get the fuck out of dodge...

Some of these advisors are a law unto themselves. Hopefully someone on Unemployment Movement will be able to come up with the rules and regulations for you so you can see exactly where you stand but what they are telling you at jobcentre is bollocks

mouth breathing imbeciles. Like it
shudder at the thought of the dhss and their rules. A lot of the time they leave the mouth breathing imbeciles alone preferring to focus on people they know can and will get jobs to hit targets.

monthly pay is shit.

The people on the Work Programme have no control over what happens when the mandatory amount of time ends. That's the Job Centre people.

I'm on the Work Programme. With a crowd called "Working Links". Everyone that works there is brilliant & supportive and I've found the entire process to be a great help. If I'm still there after the time period finishes (whenever that is), I'll just sign off again and take my chances, because I'm not getting paid a penny for JSA anyway.

Some of the customers there are almost beyond help. I spend half my time showing fellow customers how to type their email address or use a mouse. I wish I was exaggerating. :\

So they make you work how many hours for your weekly allowance? I mean I can empathise if you are made to work when you had better things to do , like an interview for a job with a proper future, or training in a field you are really passionate about, but if you are whinging that they make you do menial shit for a below average wage, like 85% of the worlds population, I honestly can't see why you would feel aggrieved

A few years back (2009ish) I was between contracts and had to sign on and was sent on the work programme run by a bunch of incompetent fools called BTCV. It was probably the most exasperating frustrating experience of my life....they were utterly useless. In the 3 months I was there I had 6 different advisors most of whom didn't even know my name least of all what I did..... I'm stead of doing the obvious which was help me make contact with different ambulance services and NHS trusts to see if they were hiring people for the actual job I have some experience in the forced me onto never ending courses teaching me how to write a letter and how to send an email...they lumped everyone from guys with masters degrees who'd been engineers for 30 years to guys who couldn't read or write onto the same course and taught at the lowest common denominator. It was ridiculous...

Then when I eventually found a job with a trust off my own back they phoned me up asking if they could take credit and use me as one of their "success stories"...

I told them to fuck off :)

My previous Work Progamme was with an outfit called "The Wyse Group", and they sound exactly like the clowns you describe. My "consultant" there didn't know what to do with someone like me, and even persuaded me to apply for a job with Wyse Group itself up in Glasgow. I suspect this was for selfish reasons, so (if I'd got the job) we could have swapped places and he wouldn't have to commute from Glasgow on the bus to our town 20 miles away. Seriously. The guy was completely out of his depth and had no fucking clue. When he wasn't working from a script (which had zero relevance to my situation) he was totally winging it. That company lost the contract with the local Job Centre and now we're with Working Links, who are a completely different breed.

So I'm sure it's a postcode lottery. But we shouldn't discount all the Work Programmes as shit, because they're definitely not. Name and shame the bad ones and praise the good ones.

I miss the days when you went to sign on and got your giro in the post a few days after.. no questions asked. I'm on the sick atm but there's no fucking way I'm going on jobseekers when its over. Our local job centre would put the fear of god into most folk. I'd rather rob post office vans than going back to that shit.

You'd rather do armed robbery than find a job..? And I blame the immigrants..

Would that be the Saxons or the Romans ? ....or maybe the grey squirrels
