This is amphetamine:

I guess you could call d-amphetamine and l-amphetamine different drugs, but they are usually considered enantiomers of the same drug.

Methamphetamine:

Dextroamphetamine or Dexedrine or d-amphetamine are the same thing.
Adderall is a mixture of 75% d-amphetamine and 25% l-amphetamine.
Desoxyn is d-methamphetamine.

Amphetamines is also used as a name for an entire group of drugs more accurately called substituted amphetamines which includes stimulants (amphetamine, methamphetamine, 2-fa, ephedrine, ...), psychedelics (DOM, DOB, DOC, ...), empathogens/entactogen (MDxx, (M/E)AP(D)B-5/6, ..) and so on.

Ritalin (mixture of d-threo-methylphenidate and l-threo-methylphenidate) and relatives (ethylphenidate, 3,4-ctmp, ...) are different both structurally and in their mechanism of action.

Speed is slang for amphetamine, but there's no reason it can't also refer to methamphetamine.

In Europe speed is amphetamine, in USA probably also.

Crystal Meth is rare and cost a lot.

For weekend use speed is better but ecstasy is more better...

This is another good point. Here in Europe Meth is super expensive, and terribly hard to find on the street. Pretty much no one has it; especially here in London where the best anyone has in some great MDMA, the worse coke ever and some weed.

I always thought Meth was the stuff that has the USA in the grips of psycosis, and speed was that stuff you rub into your gums here in Europe.

I recently tried meth, and really its not that great a drug but perhaps only as evil as portrayed if you make a habit of it. You wont get hooked after the first go.

been a speed user in NY from age 14-present(age 28) mostly Adderall and Dexedrine. I tried meth and it was very addictive. snorting felt like taking Adderall for the 1st time and all the magic came back, talking non stop, my life story, clean euphoria, no crash or negative side effects. smoking is what made me wacky and weird and very addicted. meth only advantage is it doesn't cause harsh negative side effects as Adderall or even D-amp (d-amp is very smooth and hardly negative side effects) meth is even cleaner than that and literally leaves no nasty neg crash, ONLY if ur using sparingly..chronic use, negative side effects arise quickly and override the euphoria

I was under the impression that the levo isomer is what is responsible for the CNBS stimulation and what people tend to want to avoid, and the dexro isomer is where the magic and euphoria comes about

Speed usually refers to either D or L Methamphetamine or D or L Amphetamine. The dextro isomer causes more CNS stimulation than the levo isomer and is generally what you'd want, be it D methamphetamine or D Amphetamine.

The dextro isomers cause mostly CNS stimulation (what you want), the levo PNS stimulation (what you don't want). Some people do like a little PNS stimulation too and thus prefer adderall (75% d-amph + 25% l-amph) to pure d-amph.

I think the Czech Republic is one of the few places in Europe where meth is more accessible.
