Irony is a literary or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance between what an individual does, and what they means or what is generally understood. Now, here are the lyrics from that weird Canadian who want's to be Kate Bush. I don't see a single example of Irony...

"Ironic"

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think
A little too ironic...and, yeah, I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

So it's Ironic that she wrote a song called Ironic that isn't ironic

You know what I find to be slightly ironic? The word 'sesquipedalian'. The definition is : "Given to or characterized by the use of long words" and is often used in the context of "sesquipedalian excess". Can you use a six syllable word when describing verbal diarrhea without being completely pretentious? Ok, maybe it's not entirely ironic, but it is entirely obnoxious. I think I've had too much caffine. :|

People say 'First sign of madness is talking to yourself'. I think it's talking to you ;)

^Well, at least you can expect debate at your own intellectual level?

^A debate doesn't have to have a winner. As long as all parties come out with more ideas to think about. Maybe your subconcious is adding concious facts?

Id <-> Ego <-> Superego

Did you get the dictionary.com word of the day email?

I didn't get the Email. Man, your sure making sure you get your moneys worth from the term sesquipedalian. I mean, it's a good word to know and worth 30 points at scrabble (not including double/triple letter/word bonuses) :)

May I suggest the word Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis which is the longest work in Collins dictionary. Wouldn't fit on a scrabble board which is a pity... :)
