The days before Playstation, when gaming was simple.

hehe...old games.
I used to have a...wait for it...Tandy TRS 80. It had a audio cassette, but the only games you could play were text games...no graphics. The only graphics you could create was this DODGY kalaidescope that required you to type in 4 large pages of program...
Oh, who else loved on commodore 64 Wizard of Wor and Jumping Jack Flash?
I now have on my puter emulators for SNES and C64...yay! i can play Mario 1 & 2 and wizard of wor.
I also have commander keen, keen dreams, crystal cave and DIGGER!!!
**Let's take it back to the oldskool**
LMAO
sorry 1 more...used to play Wonder Boy down at the shop when i was a tyke..on the machine that you sat down at...hehe

OMG! Wonderboy! I love that game, its a timeless classic
smile.gif

That d00d with his skateboard and helmet throwing tomahawks at snails and marlins......ooooooooh it brings back memories
smile.gif

Oh yeah Kafren, that game you're talking baout its called THE BLOB......what a gay game that was...so boring.

Oh yeah another thing......who remembers back in the day when all you needed to play arcade games was a 'clicker' you nicked from the neighbour's hot water boiler??
You just put it near the bolts around the coin slot and clicked and a little electric shock gave you credits
smile.gif

One more thing i remember...the Bubble Bobble arcade game near where i lived when i was a little lad would give you a free credit when you turned the power on and off. So i'd always goto the power plug and flick the swith on and off to get a free go

Wizard of Wor
Spent like 6 hours straight playing this game at my cousins. We didn't have a computer at this stage and I couldn't get enough. Can't remember what level I got up to, but I remember kicking my sister's ass!
Not to forget jill of the jungle, jazz jackrabbit, test drive (the original->cga), donkey kong (cga), and that golf game that when you hit the trees the commentator would say: "OOOH, Looks like he hit the tree Jim."
------------------
I felt a cleaving in my mind, as if my mind had split.
I tried to match it seam by seam, but could not make the fit.
The thought behind I strove to join, unto the thought before.
But sequence ravelled out of sound, like balls upon a floor.

Hahahha gaming sluts...
wink.gif
.
Ahhh the good old Atari, I still pull that out of the cupboard occasionally, and give it a go. Games I have and love are
Space Invaders
Berzerk
Steeple Chaser
Asteroid
I know there's more, but I can't be bothered looking ATM, hehehe.
When Commodore 64 was in it's peak, I used to walk down to my friends house and play it non stop all day. BTW if anyone still has theirs would I be able to have a loan of it for a bit ???
NES rocked!!!!!! I had all of the Super Mario game, plus a donkey kong game, Duck Hunt and many more. Actually I should pull that out again soon.
I've never had any of the Sega consoles, but I used to love Sonic and there was another game on there, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called??? Someone name some games please.
Don't even get me started on Bubble Bobble or any of the other arcade games. I could be sitting here for days, telling arcade stories, or getting my Super Mario book of cheats out, telling everyone how to get extra lives, points and shortcuts.
This thread rocks !!!!
smile.gif

Oh yeah did anyone here have the Neo Geo console???

GO PACMAN!!!! and Commander Keen, lemings and any super mario brothers game.....
hell yeah; old scool gaming kicks arse!!!!

That's it! A Boy and His Blob... yeah, stupid game, heh. For some reason we'd always hire it out, we wanted to know what happened but we never clocked it. rah.
Zelda on NES! And Duck Hunt, yeah! "Sharp Shooter!"
Oooh, Super Mario shortcuts, like the underwater bits, and getting all the secret bricks with all the extra coins, or hitting the hidden bricks. mwahaha.
sugarpony: hahaha! I know that game, "OOOH, Looks like he hit the tree Jim"! I used to play it on my grandpa's comp... along with Mean Streets, best game ever which I never solved because it got burgled from his house.
frown.gif

And Jill of the Jungle, pre-Lara Croft.
Wonderboy--was that the one where he's on the skateboard and he trips over rocks and gets little dragons out of eggs? haha, how trippy do these games sound when you try to describe them?
and playing Street Fighter I... Chun Li was cool, she did the girly "yay!" when she won, Guile was cool in his USA air force uniform, Ryu was OK but a bit geeky in the full-on karate gear, and the only way to win for sure was to use that Indian guy (can't remember his name) with the stretchy arms and legs, or the weird mutant thing with the electricity. and the russian guy was just weird. haha. and KEN!
what about the old school mac ones like lemmings and prince of persia? actually, they weren't mac... or maybe only PoP. eh. can't remember. how violent was Prince of Persia? if he fell off onto those deadly spikes, you'd fully see them pierce through him and hear the "UGH" and then that tragic, creepy funeral music would play. heheh.

wink.gif
.

Keep them coming!!

My favourite C64 game of all time would have to be Paradroid...ramming your tiny bot into increasingly bigger bots, taking over their circuitry and then going to town with your upgraded weapons...sweet.
For the Amstrad (I was one of, like, *two* people in my town to own one) nothing really beat Knights Lore for me. Roaming through a huge castle, trying to find a cure for your lycanthropy...very sweet graphics for the time.
Dammit, now I've got to resist the urge to download emulators to play through these *again* (something I tend to do every couple of years (yes, I am a geek)).

How can no one mention some of these?
2600:
Enduro
Commodore 64
Where to start? How about 'Ghettoblaster'?
smile.gif

Everything
Tetris (Bastard of a thing!)
NES
Bionic Commando
Super Mario Bros 1 & 3
The 'Power Glove' (Just coz it looked awesome, even if it did work terribly
wink.gif
)

smile.gif
(EVERYONE loves that one)
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country
Arcade
Final Fight

biggrin.gif

smile.gif

Anyone interested in emulation?
That is emulating gaming platforms (arcade, computer and console systems) to run old games on your new PC.
Here's a good link for those interested: retrogames
Thanks for the opportunity to brag moochoo Ü
Is a bluelight gaming day meetup too much to hope for?

Sorry to keep posting, but after a quick look around, I found an excellent site for classic games.
Contains classic games AND emulators (emulators let your machine run the original software, for example, the *original* Atari 2600 files.)
http://www.classicgaming.com/
Platforms whose games and emulators are hosted on the site:
Amstrad, Apple, Arcade, Arcadia, Atari 2600, Channel F, ColecoVision, C64, Intellivision, MSX, Neo Geo, Odyssey, Sega Master System, TurboGrafx, Vectrex.
