Poem that my good buddy wrote

9/6/05

the click from your end was deafening, and sent a sputtering echo through out my entire head. you once said you'd like to leave behind the decadence of the world to search for silence on the edge of insanity, but with that click you robbed me of silence forever. so i'm left counting the number of rings before you pick and, eventually, give me that click again- before the fragments of hope disappear amongst the peace and quiet forever. even with scattered thoughts and splintered emotions, i'm growing more patient and accepting the chance that i may never be whole again. i'm forgetting the past and forging the future, using only the pieces that i'd like to keep, but it feels like i'm still coming up short. i feel over-shadowed by your fear of happiness and, perhaps, your anxiety. when you pause between sentences, it feels like purgatory and when your eyescatch mine, i feel like i'll be blowing in the wind forever. you once said it takes more than i have to build sunny days, but i'm staying patient and giving all my thoughts to thinking that it can't rain all of the time.
