The coffee apprecation thread

We could start with simply trying to put Nescafe out of business? (by just drinking decent coffee, of course).

I'm in. Let this moment go down in history as the beginning of the revolution. Just as Marx predicted, the proleteriat has grown weary of all the instant coffee he is forced to drink in the workplace and dsires something more. Nescafe represents the head of the capitalist repression and is our final goal.

I have a friend like that, he can down a cup of strong coffee and feel nothing from it. Coke doesn't do much either to him lol, used to sit there sniffing lines with us and get bored. Maybe some people are wired to be tolerant to stimulants.

Regarding health benefits of caffeine posted above, I've read similar things. Its a great drug, moderate use makes the day better with no negative effects.

It's processed by the liver enzyme CYP1A2. I have rapid metabolizer status with that enzyme. Dental freezing barely works on me either, and it's processed the same way. It only freezes my mouth about 30% so I can still feel the work being done.

Co-Op fairtrade Italian Roast beans now on at £2.20 for 250g instead of £3.20....some fairtrade promotion going on.

%)

sweetwater organic from a small local roaster in gainesville, fl. i love dark roasts; cafe cubano, midnight oil, main street espresso, a decaf called black dog. picked up "ghost roast" in october when i was at ward's, the best grocery ever. there are a few places i miss like ward's but i go back often enough.
guess i'm a coffee snob. i'd give up a whole lot of things before i'd give up coffee.

Taylor's coffee was a third off in Sainsbury's yesterday so I picked up this interesting looking blend. Tried it this morning and its very nice - extremely dark, bitter and strong just the way coffee should be. Leaves a beautiful aftertaste almost like an espresso does.

Which ground filter coffee brands do you guys prefer?

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Columbian used to be a favourite until i got stuck into Lavazza - must try some of their other ones too. That and Illy are always good but once i unpack the grinder maybe I'll start buying whole beans again. This town is also SHITE for different types of coffee compared to Brighton. Fuck I actually miss the place. I digress...

Any coffee with chocolatety, nutty, caramel favours goes down well. Not to keen on bitter or really dark roasts. The best coffee i can every remember came from a little Italian place in Broadway Market, London. Used to start each Saturday with a double expresso, black and plenty of sugar followed my a great big shot in the arm of smack. Actually I miss that too.

At the moment I've got Co-Op fairtrade Ethiopian - 'an aromatic sweet coffee with medium body', and fairtrade Kenyan - 'considered by many as the worlds finest coffee, full flavoured with delicious fruity top notes'

I'll buy anything as long as its cheap & fairtrade. But I've heard some fairtrade is a a bit dubious so I should investigate before giving them my money.

I like the ones with caramel and chocolate overtones too, I had a 'mocha lima' one from Asda recently and it was very nice, a light soothing afternoon coffee. That one above is super dark and more of a morning one. Its great to have a variety of types around depending what taste I fancy, a bit like with weed, I am building up my collection.

Still need to look at grinding my own beans too.

Morning again for those that have actually managed some beautiful hopefully natural ish sleep.

I don't know what the etiquette here is about bumping up very old threads and if it's frownedon-if so I am sorry. But I stumbled upon this imo worthy thread. while skimming some of the older threads. Although while still wired and tired tired (and banging a few etz) ALL I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT is coffee for hours...and..what a fucking bad idea caffeine, however mild a stimulant next to what I have been banging would be.

HOWEVER =D

Just seemed so much of a coincidence that 15mins before I found it I had just purchased a 2 cup briki to try and make better Turkish/Greek coffee in. After living in North London for so long prior to countrystuck sticksville I YEARN for a decent cup in a beautiful demitasse dinky bone china cup..i have read and watched/read every frinking wiki how/you tube instructions and still I just can't get it right.

I LOVE coffee, nope I NEED coffee to make life that little bit better, it is one sensuality that I will and never can give up.

mmmmmmmmmmmm ok pan going on. <3

I'm an instant girl. I love nescafe coffee can't be bothered with flitered stuff. I have coffee filters in the house but we all know why I bought those, don't we?! :)

I don't like any other instant brands. But I do drinj those filtered coffees when out places n my opinion
Is that they're very strong. Although I love anything with coffee in or coffe-flavoured; cakes, chocolates, sweets, drinks yum yum yum yum

Edit: I don't think it's frowned upon, well I hope not. I was looking through Raas' threads other day n replied to an old one he created. I think it's just if people troll or like with NMI where someone opens a thread to welcome a member who signed two years ago. Besides it's sn interesting topic hehehe :)

I love coffee. Caffè macchiato is probably my favourite out and about fix. I hate the soullessness of the big chain coffee places but luckily a few miles away is the most brilliant independent coffee shop that beats any costa or starbucks. I have pretty much every machine and every conceivable grinder and hob coffee maker available.
Some of my family live mostly in Italy so until recently my favourite coffee was made on the gas hob in an Italian Moka pot. Their local equivalent supermarket to say Asda has this incredible ground medium roast ground fresh coffee for about £!.40 a bag they bring me about ten bags back whenever they come over.

The Italians obviously take their coffee very seriously it is intrinsic to their culture. I once ordered a cappuccino after 10am in a coffee bar in Italy with some friends THE HORROR -it is seen as extremely wrong..if you order a cappuccino or similar after lunch you may as well have just shat on an Italians shoe..they are totally disgusted..something to do with digestion.

I have nothing against instant coffee but there are only very few I like..unless it's 'hospital coffee' made by my ex nurse 90 year old Gran with hot milk and nescafe!

But this bloody Turkish/Greek coffee is proving a nightmare to make...I shall await the proper pan thingy a briki? which should aid the foam on the top and the settlement of the coffee sediment....Oh yes I take coffee very seriously indeed. =D

I'm with you on that - it's the only way I can ever drink instant coffee.

I gave up coffee for a couple of years because of anxiety, but I should get back into it. I was never as much of an aficionado as you, but I do prefer something with a bit of taste to it. I'm lucky enough to have an independent place just down the road which does passable coffee, and I can sometimes be found in there on a weekend.

Hmmm some arehole club owner 'read' my coffee grounds two weeks ago...absolutely full of shit..and as a final straw he aged me by a year..cunt. He did it on purpose too because I pissed his mate off by not buying his imitation zippo lighter....goddammit all the formaldehyde and embalming fluid in 26 years of doing street drugs I know have had the suprising effect of a decent anti age cream/bottox..grrrr.

Yep Turkish coffee..medium sweet..mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Sammy I am no way an aficionado just like all different kinds at different times and like to know what I am doing/ ingesting..I think I pretty much have that attitude to drugs too.

Turkish/Greek coffee is a bit of an acquired taste, if you haven't had it before next opportunity try it..ask for it medium or very sweet though as it's not really like any other kind of coffee I can describe..the smell..oh myyyyy...mmmmmmmmmmm.

I actually really like cold coffee Kingme but a cup that has boiled and been left to cool..so it's not freaky...we all just like what we like :D
