Another one upon the gears of clocks and timing through
A life lives you, happening to stand yourself upon the calculated distances
That you were taught in school and brought up making spools of yarn
To count the minutes until later dates, circumferences of dinner plates
Calling out from upon the wall, counting off the calculated distances,
Only happenings and instances linger slowly on into the rising of
A new sun sinking with the enumerated tides of failing minds
Upon the evening of their ending, only pending with a slow regret
Of a life wasted smoking cigarettes and running stop lights,
Counting money, drinking nights, fighting for a proclaimed cause
Of righteousness and bloodied gauss, and fastening the cases
Of statistics lifting faces to the reading of the daily mail,
Inconstistencies and death, energy, and heavy breath
Of cancer victims, hollow dictums, casualties, infermeries,
Obituary quanternary, lost causes and the need to fight for ever
more beneath the constant light that follows all our petty strifes
And lesser lifes unto the ending of our calculated distance.

I really liked the ideas behind this. It flows well too. The lines I quoted especially hit home.
