the brutal death of the research chemical industry

move away from here? many RC's that are still legal here have been illegal in most european country's for a while now...

Illegal, sure. Heavily persued, no.

I don't really care, but i don't think this is the end of the RC industry...the manufacturers still exist,IMO 5 out 6 of these company were shit anyway, and the demand still exists.

I really enjoy RC's but they don't do anything i can't get from nature

^ Nearly ALL online vendors have ceased to exist.. The demand for some things may be high, but a whole lot of other chems just don't have such a demand.

And another *Bump* to try and get this on the Front Page.. Is this news not big enough..?

July 22, 2004 Michael Burton

United States Attorney David R. Dugas announced today the unsealing of a federal grand jury indictment that was returned on July 14, 2004, against Michael Burton, 3712 Zenia Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89103. The indictment alleges that Burton is the operator of the Internet website WWW.AMERICANCHEMICALSUPPLY.COM and charges Burton with four counts of using the website to distribute analogues of controlled substances in the Middle District of Louisiana, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 841. Count One of the indictment further charges that James Edwards Downs, age 22, died as a result of using 2C-T-21, one of the chemicals allegedly distributed to him by Burton. Burton was arrested yesterday at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, and a search warrant was executed to seize evidence from his residence.

As a result of additional evidence gathered during the arrest of Burton and the search of his residence, DEA agents obtained a criminal complaint yesterday afternoon against Burton's roommate, Keith Russert, charging Mr. Russert with four counts of distribution of analogues of controlled substances.

The investigation and indictment of Burton are part of "Operation Web Tryp," a nationwide Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) initiative targeting multiple Internet web sites that distribute designer drug analogues under the guise of being "research chemicals." The products sold by these web sites are synthetic substances chemically identified as tryptamines, piperazines and phenylethylamines. Some of these substances are specifically restricted under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) while others, when intended for human consumption, are controlled under the Controlled Substance Analogue Enforcement Act (CSAEA). The products are often purchased and consumed by young people because they can produce stimulant and hallucinatory effects similar to designer drugs like Ecstasy or LSD. A total of ten individuals were arrested today as part of Operation Web Tryp, with arrests also occurring in Georgia, California, Arizona, and Nevada. In addition, Internet domain names and other assets associated with these enterprises were seized.

U.S. Attorney Dugas said: "The sale of designer drug analogues over the Internet is a growing and disturbing trend. These chemicals are dangerous and can easily be misused to the point of an overdose that results in death or serious bodily harm. Young adults and adolescents are particularly vulnerable because they can learn of these chemicals through Internet chat rooms and web sites and be deceived into thinking that the substances are both legal and safe. It is important for the public to know that these chemicals are dangerous and that the distribution of analogues for human consumption is illegal and can carry stiff penalties, particularly if death or serious bodily injury occurs as a result of the use of the chemicals."

The case was investigated by the Zachary Police Department; the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office; the Louisiana Attorney General's Office; the U.S. Secret Service; the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (Las Vegas and Baton Rouge); the DEA New Orleans Field Division; and the DEA, Las Vegas. Other agencies that are a part of the DEA/High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force in this area are the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department, the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the Gonzales Police Department, and the Louisiana Department of Alcohol & Tobacco Control.

If convicted on Count One of the indictment, Burton faces a sentence of imprisonment of a minimum of 20 years up to a maximum of life. If convicted on Counts Two through Four of the indictment, Burton faces a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment for each count.

NOTE: An indictment is a determination by a grand jury that there is probable cause to believe that offenses have been committed by the defendant. The defendant(s), of course, is presumed innocent until and unless he is proven guilty at trial.

These website operators attempted to give an appearance of legitimacy to their websites by presumably selling these chemicals to bona fide researchers; however, a review of customer lists revealed purchasers with e-mail addresses such as acidtripo420@; ecstasylight@; madtriper17@; moontripperdipt@; partys_with_glow_sticks@; professor@; psychedelic_stoner@; and ravergirlny@.

Isn't someone called raver girl a member of bluelight?

I dunno about you guys but the DEA was right in this one. I mean, when I read research chemical I automaticaly think they must of researched it on fluffy bunnies, so its gotta be safe right? Plus Im hardcore, so I gotta eat 10x more than you. Grrrr...

isn't there someone called ravergirl in every city?

I live in Newcastle and I don't know anyone called raver girl. I'd find it a bit odd if someone actually called themselves that.

Damn it, this is the worst news i have recieved in such a long time, Rac was one of my fav suppliers, and i was just about to order an assload of stuff from them, I was going to get a sample pack and several other things, where the shit am i going to get 4 aces now, I can only imagine the fucking drug scheduling hayday that is going to fucking ensue now, god fuck the DEA, fuck the United states, I swear to god I won't be able to trip till i can fucking synthesize my own shit, that is going to be like 2 years sobriety minimal fuck, I cant wait to fucking move out of the US

Hey lets all make it our life long goal to synthesize phens , then we can distribute them like candy and open everyones third eye.

^^ Good luck on trying to synthesize them without having advanced knowledge in chemistry. 8)

wow, this is really sad news.

what i don't understand is, how the hell can they arrest the companies if the chemicals are sold FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY...NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION?

so if i drink a gallon of anti-freeze, they're going to shut them all down and arrest them?

this country makes no fucking sense sometimes...the government has their fucking heads so far up their fucking asses that it isn't even funny.

shit like this makes me want to puke, then you see rapists, murderers and pedophiles get 5-10 (2 1/2 on good behavior). what the fuck is this? land of the free...unless you ingest a chemical?

next they'll be setting up their own farms with plenty of cows...and lots of surveillance cameras all across the property. i really wouldn't put it past them.

there are plenty of BLers on here that feel we should be able to ingest what we wish to ingest...it is our bodies and we will continue to have that freedom.

everyone needs to start doing something instead of bitching...e-mail the DEA and ask exactly why they're being arrested and charged. how are they liable? give them some scenarios to consider (ie: they bitch about smoking, yet they subsidize tobacco farms), etc. we need a new government...this is pure bullshit.

For some reason, emailing the DEA doesn't seem like a great idea to me...

I'd e-mail them, but they don't publish addresses for anybody. Not even a web site manager for technical issues.

great, its all over. Looks like I wont be doing any psychedelics for the rest of my life...thank you DEA.

Good sound bite -- hope the DEA is listening. You've won, boys! Now go home. No one will ever put anything bad in their mouths again, we promise.
