the book "cocaine: an unauthorized biography"

Hey, has anyone read this new book yet? im reading a newspaper review of it and one thing that struck me was this fact it presented:
"cocaine us the most addictive drug known to science. Given an unlimited supply of heroin, laboratory rats will eventually regulate their intake of the drug. Given the same access to cocaine, rats will eschew food, water and anything other than the drug. They will do nothing but consume coke until they die--usually within a week. "
i've never heard of coke being this till now. When it says most addictive to "science"--what does this include? most addictive to people as well? if so ive never read about coke being the most addictive to humans.

I have no knowledge about the tests and things that they do but I would say coke is most addictive to RATS, not humans. A human that likes cocaine won't stop eating food and drinking water, given an unlimited supply, but there will be a very big decrease. In my head there is a big difference between a rat and human.

I just saw the book in barnes and nobles, but didnt buy it as im not too interested in cocaine.
Cocaine may be one of the most addictive drugs in the short term, and I would imagine some people may die if given unlimited access. Cocaine seems to perpetuate itself, while too much heroin at once will dissude its immediate reuse. In this regard cocaine may be the most addictive.

Wonderful book. Couldn't put it down once I started. Everything is on the mark, besides for a few errors about the effects of Ketamine. I'd recommend it.
