The Body Piercing Thread

Hurts as much as any piercing, give or take. I had mine done rather unprofessionally when I was very young and stupid but it still hurt a lot less than my nose piercings. You said you didn't think those hurt though, so I guess a lot of it depends. Is the only piercing I've never had problems with, weirdly, but I think I got very lucky with that

I've got my lip done twice (my labret and one just above it), my nose, and I had my eyebrow done by a mate. Despite the fact it was done with a safety pin, which went black, and left me with a puss-filled eyebrow, I got a piercer to clean it and put a proper bar in. After about six months, it started growing out. I did pierce my nose a few times, before I got it done professionally. That was the most painful one.

What's up with it again? I'd go the ibuprofen route and keep an eye on it cos mine would go icky from time to time even a couple years after I took it out. It probably shouldn't be painful enough that you need to drink so aye look out for it

Warm salty water is great for cleaning them or get some of the savlon spray -might be useful for your daughters ears also.

Since no one's said it yet, never get ANYTHING pierced with a piercing gun because they can't be sterilised properly, they scar more, hurt more, and are impossible to get even if you're using them for matching ear piercings. What bear said about cleaning with warm salty water is the best advice, but don't over clean - make sure you get all the crusty shite off a couple of times a day but don't constantly pick at it.

Don't like belly button piercings myself, they have a high chance of rejection which means they basically stay scabby and get thinner and thinner until you take it out (if you're smart) or it gets so thin it eventually rips out. My belly button piercing grew out, I've had it out since I was 14 and there's still a really noticeable scar.

Aside from that I've had my septum pierced (took out in the first year of uni cos one of the balls fell off in a club and I couldn't be bothered getting a new ring for it because I looked like an emo twat anyway) and loads on my ears including crossing over scaffolds.

Taken most of them out now and would probably take a couple more out if they werent in so fucking tightly but eh. They're alright. I just prefer tattoos now and wish I could afford to get another one :P

Yea I clean with salt water. Thanks <3i didn't know that about belky buttons - feel quite scared now. Was really looking forward to buying a lovely pinky, glittery bar for it an all.

Yea my tattoo place lets me pay in installments or I'd never afford them lol. I book them months in advance n pay the odd £20-30 here n there. My next one is September 17th, (4 hour sesh) roses right the way from my side down to ankle.

I never had any problems with my belly button piercing - only had it a few years before removing (so hairy you couldn't see it anyway). My surface piercings were the hardest to keep settled - once I got them knocked they started to reject and no amount of TLC could stop them. They had the white plastic bars and every few days you could notice that they had moved up a few layers, I stuck with them until they were about half the original size and then I removed them before they ripped.

Left a nice uniform scar that looks like a number 6 on a dice

Good shit, just remember to keep an eye on it cuz obviously if owt does need seeing to you might not feel it.

Man these things are hard work I totally wanna go get one now though. Sort of want to learn how to pierce properly, but I'm kinda squeamish. Fine with having it done, but maybe be funny doing it. Would be cool to be able to do my own safely though. Got three brands as well, one is a heart on my shoulder and I got two crosses on my arse cheeks which I assume were the result of a bet and which have apparently now faded. Been questioned about those once or twice the morning after.

I've wanted a branding long before I even got my piercings - I actually went for a branding but it was still illegal in the UK and ended up with a piercing instead. The techniques have come on leaps and bounds since then so you can have really clean and sharp lines so the scaring is perfect.

I had no idea it was illegal at any point, just sort of lumped it in with everything else similar. Mine was a home-done job at age seventeen via the dissembly of a wire chicken and a gas hob but I do love it dearly <3 The lines are shockingly good considering how it came about, would be better if I didn't have a compulsion to pick at stuff 8(

Evey, branding is just like it is with cattle: heat up some metal, press it against flesh, it eventually leaves a scar in the shape of the metal. It doesn't really hurt for more than a split second but it can be a pain til it's healed

Yeah it was (may still be in some areas) classed as ABH and the brander could get in serious legal trouble - the early stuff was all done via the strike method (heat up a piece of metal and put against the skin), as it progressed it got a bit cleaner with people using a heated filament to give really clean lines. The early stuff (like you describe) actually needed you to pick to encourage the scarring (you could use peroxide to melt the scab and form a cleaner line but picking feels so much better).

The early strike stuff I love the Japanese Kanji stuff but now that the artist has the ability to draw instead of striking then there is some amazing stuff about. I would love some of the Arabic calligraphy stuff branded on my back or the back of my leg which would probably hurt like a bastard.

What I find strange is that (from what I understand) is that tattooing the face used to be illegal - but beauty salons were able to tattoo the eyelids for permanent eye liners etc.

Was funny as I spotted somebody with an Arabic tattoo on her neck - it was really fancy but it said 'Bad Luck'. I really wanted to ask here what her tattoo meant but thought better :D
