It's so lovely to get an update, UNH! :D I was wondering how you were going <3 Has the nausea gone now? I hope so.

Hiya!

Thanks for asking... It is a million times better now thanks to the Zofran! I swear it's like a miracle drug. I'm super thankful I have insurance with it because it's $90 for just 20 generic pills of the stuff! Thankfully I got it for $3 so I should be able to have plenty around :P

I've already gained two pounds since I started taking it earlier in the week!

How is everyone else doing??

Hi UNH, I'm so glad you're feeling better! Very exciting to have your next scan coming up so soon too :)

My exciting news for the week is that we can now see our baby moving - not a full on foot poking out or anything, but when he's active that part of my tummy 'jumps'. Won't be long now before my husband will be able to feel him too! We had a midwife appointment this week and got to hear his heartbeat for the first time, it's becoming really real to us that soon he will arrive as a separate little person for us to love and take care of <3

congrats conscious and voxmystic.

i used to love all of the movement during that phase of pregnancy.

i remember on one occasion at around 8 mo's seeing my daughters foot prominently poking against my tummy.

and also (what we believe was) her spine pressing against it during one of her infamous tumbles.

...kytnism...:|

Glad everyone's doing well :) May many happy days be ahead of all the expectant parents and recent parents! Adorable bump, UNH, and glad you're feeling better. <3

A note on circumcision: if for religious reasons as AR specified, or if both parents agree it is in the son's best interest, no problem.

I do remember the epic debates. ;)

I would be unlikely to circumcise a son, all things being equal. If the father felt very strongly, I would consider it. I would ideally like a son to make up his own mind. In reality, though...

Samadhi and Busty, I think you have sensible views on the matter that it is easiest to do when they are babies.

Following is just a description (no images) but might make people a little squeamish, so it's going under NSFW tags. It relates to circumcision past puberty.

NSFW:
I knew a guy years back who was not circumcised at birth. When he hit puberty, he had a major, sudden growth spurt (several inches in height over a short span of time, as many people do), and his actual penis grew faster than his foreskin. He had to go in for a circumcision as a teen because it hurt him to even pee, much less get the normal erections that arrive in adolescence. The procedure was much more complicated. He experienced scarring... significant scarring, and a lot of pain. I'm sure he wished his parents had him circumcised at birth! I couldn't imagine being a young man discovering my sexuality only to find pain and scarring even during masturbation. :( Sucks. I know he was very embarrassed about the scarring. He thought a woman might see it and judge him.

I'm officially neutral on that issue for now. There are sensible arguments both for and against. I suppose I would address that when/if the time comes. Still not yet for me - still not at a point where I could realistically try.

My cousin just had her baby today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hope her and baby are well that is lovely to hear.

my cousin is going in for a section on monday and I have been asked to step in as my other cousin was in an accident and now can't be there, excited but nervous at the same time. I am not too good with progs cutting folk up so nervy how this will be, as long as gas and air are about I am sure I will have a wee shot lol

I been searchin for information about this but I aint finding the particular answer I need.

I got a part time job, 2 days a week and it aint a very long day. So in that time, Ima be leavin my lil man with his grandma.

I got a breast pump and Ill be pumping milk for him but I aint sure that Ill be able to get a big enough stockpile to keep him fed the whole time Im gone, and might need to have some formula on hand stashed in case my mom runs out of pumped milk and he needs to eat.

The thing is since Im on methadone, obviously its in the milk. and its extremely small amounts, measured in less than nanograms, but the doctors still always say dont just abruptly stop breastfeeding when ur on 'done, you gotta wean down slowly or theres a chance it could give the baby minor WD's.

Thats for stopping stopping tho, and Ima just be (possibly) stopping for just a few hours. I really dont think that it would be a problem or make a differene, esp cuz methadones long halflife. But im just wonderin if anybody knows about that. Like i said, i know about stopping completely but cant seem to find info about stopping just during a work day and then goin back on the breast when you get home.

And i dont even know if it will come to that, if i get enough milk stockd up, but its just somethin on my mind.

I guess it would depend how regular his feeds are . If he wakes and feeds every 4 hours on the dot say, then you have to assume he craves the methadone hit as much as needing to be fed. If his feeding patterns are a little less predictable, he sleeps right through the odd night, he has a longer afternoon nap on random days, then it would be easy to assume you could slip him a formula bottle while you are at work without risking ant WD's.

i'm not a mom so forgive me if this is a silly question, but can you mix the formula and breast milk?

it is worth mentioning that breaking a fever is disrupting the immune-system, and prolonging or giving any 'virus' a chance to grow in the meantime. a good idea while sick is to bath or shower in water only slightly above your bodies temp, and avoid acetaminophen and the like.

So i've been on a pre-pregnancy multi-vitamin since January (folic acid, iodine, some other extras), and aside from feeling really good (my physical health has increased considerably in the last few months after a shit January), my nails and hair have become SO strong and growing really quickly. My fringe has grown about 1/2 a cm in 2 weeks :o I accidentally bent my nail back the other day, and instead of breaking off, it slightly bent, but left only a small mark on my nail. I'm having to cut my fingernails once a fortnight!.

Did any of you lovely mums or mums to be experience anything similar when you started pregnancy/pre-conception multi vitamins?

I also started taking liquid chloropyll about 2.5 months ago, but am not sure if that would contribute... maybe?

I am definitely not complaining about this, but it's the first time in my life that my nails are super strong!

yea he sleeps thru the night and feeds totally random, no schedule to it at all.

Looks like my question was premature tho, cuz I started pumping and I got plenty of milk so I doubt my moms will have to give him anything but milk when Im gone.

I really didnt expect havin to give him any formula at all, it was kind of just a "just in case" question, but looks like while I might leave a thing of formula in the back of the closet as emergency food for if say, my mom spilled his bottle and lost all the milk i had pumped for that feeding, it looks like we aint gonna have to use it, so Im pretty happy about that, since I know its just one feeding a week at the MOST but i still prefer to keep him all-breastmilk.

Anyways, Samadhi, when/if you get pregnant it will be even better. The vitamins do have that effect on just about everybody who takes em, when you are pregnant it just aout doubles. thats how it was for me atleast.
