The Big "I Can't Sleep" Thread - Insomniacs Unite!

Yeah alright, good point, rangrz ....but Jesus Christ you aren't half condescending.

Thanks for stating that rangrz had a good point. In regards to the deceased Jewish zombie wizard, Jesus Christ, I don't know him so I can not comment on his level of
condescension, and I not believe you can divide by a value of two an abstract concept that is neither a number nor an object which can partitioned into segments.

To stay on topic: It can help sleep patterns if you do not use your sleeping area for other activities, like work/computer/music/etc.

If you want someone to listen to your viewpoint rangrz try and not be a douchebag about it, let them save face, otherwise 95% of people will just ignore what you have to say.

Go ahead and ignore it. You can wallow in your ignorance and call whine one one for a waaahmbulance because rangrz called you on your logical fallacies.

Excuse me? You sound like a total cock. I wasn't even the one who posted.

Thanks for telling me you are not the one who posted. (You did however post in this thread) but I was aware you are the poster who's poor deductive argument I was
countering in.

Yes, I am a cock. Pray tell, how does that Ad hominem attack on me bear any relevance to the validity or lack thereof in my arguments?

Mate what are you talking about? I never said anything, your debate was entirely with Fawkes and attempt4. I agree with what you posted completely, I just think your personal skills could do with some work. If you want people to listen to your viewpoint, talk to them like a normal human being.

My family doesn't believe my suspected DSPS
:'(

They think I'm an asshole for missing breakfast

rangrz my friend, your point, like I said was totally valid and perfectly sound and yeah you're a fairly smart guy, (I know that's what you want to hear) but you don't need to be pretentious, condescending and childish about it really, do you?
Maybe you do. Do you? Did I miss something....perhaps i'm not down with the internet or kids anymore :) I suppose the army will do that to a guy though.
And no, I'm not having a go, just trying to, as rolls said, help you out with some interpersonal skillz'n'tipz. I agree with 99% of your posts and usually you're right on the money but sometimes you go about it the wrong way, that's all.
Nobody likes a smart arse my friend :)
Debates are all fine and dandy and Lord help us the internet will forever be full of them, but a touch of civility and morsel of decorum go a long way wouldn't you agree?

As for sleeping, I struggled to sleep last night and this entire week has just been stress-filled to the fucking max. I can't wait until it's over and it's next Friday. This new job shenanigans, running around like a headless chicken, appointments and things and stuff and junk and FUCKSAKE. Last night it took me hours to drop off, because I haven't bothered, with weights (like I said), have gotten lazy on other fronts (started watching TV in bed again, which is rather ridiculous) and I didn't want to use any herbs or anything to induce sleep. Tonight, should be better after I work out and sort things out with the new boss and get all of the stress from my mind.
Valerian, weight training, chamomile, Cannabis, sorting out the things that are causing me stress = sound night's sleep, hopefully.

^ careful with the cannabis, too close to bedtime & it suppresses your REM sleep.

Herbal sleep aids

Can anyone recommend some good herbs to help me get to sleep, i never feel tired until 3-4am and wakeup around 11-12 most mornings.
I dont want to use weed that was the reason i couldnt sleep at all in the first place, i smoked so much my brain relied on it to be told when to sleep.
Anyways so far i ordered valerian root caps (450mg + 100mg calming agents) Kava Kava extract and phenibut (i have anxiety, im on an ssri but its nice to be a little calmer) i'll also pickup some melatonin.

If nothing seems to work then i'll goto the doctor and get prescribed something.

uve pretty much covered all the herbal stuff.
i find otc sedating antihistamines more appropriate for sleeping than benzos which only seem to calm me down
otherwise temazepam is the best benzos for sleeping as it doesnt interrupt REM sleep like other benzos.
I like promethazine the best as an otc sleep aid.
Im also interested in what herbal stuff can help

There should be some useful information in the sleep megathread we have going.... I'm going to merge these so you can read through it

Best of luck to you <3

Picked of some melatonin today and FYI promethazine is not OTC in Nova Scotia, i had to wait in the fuckin methodone line to talk to the pharmacist.

I've known a handful of people who've had success with melatonin. Have you tried exercising to exhaustion? I find it a lot easier to sleep when I've exerted myself both mentally and physically during the day.

Im in the sticks its cold as fuck, no way im exercising outside and theres not much i could do in my tiny house.Even the days when im exhausted i feel really sleepy in the evening but when 10-11pm roll around im back to normal.

I also explained to the pharmacist why i wanted promethazine he was a cool guy and recommended to goto the doc and get scripted zopiclone.

Not much you can do?!?! Do you live in a 5 by 5 room? Get onto the ground and do some push ups and once your arms burn like fire roll over and start the sit-ups. If you have it in you get a weight and do some squats/calf raises as well and then just repeat until you ache and can't move any longer and crawl your way into your bed. This doesn't work to well for me though because my mind never rests. It is always active and has been more so in the last three years. I have been sleep deprived and exhausted most of the time. I usually can't even get to bed and once I do I simply wake up every 20-30 minutes or begin to have some crazed dream that will most likely alert me awake at some point. I rarely ever do anything besides smoke cannabinoids before bed(rarely do this either as I usually smoke 3-4 hours or more before I touch down for sleep and don't always smoke either). I will actually use other aids to force myself to sleep but I already know using much of anything even somewhat often is a trap, it just really fucking sucks to be so generally tired since I have constant headaches anyways and being over tired never helps that. Insomnia is definitely the most tortuous of any of the quick ailments like hunger or thirst. After long periods without sleep I would drop everything to just get that one sweet second of actual restful sleep. When i'm really sleep deprived I often imagine sleep as a siren sitting on a rock calling to me dragging me in looking absolutely radiant but the second I get close I crash the bow into the rocks........

Ohh okay I see what's goin on here. You got a good ol' case of the cabin fever. I friggin hate that restless feeling you get in winter when you're like perpetually stuck inside. It is very hard to sleep. I know it sucks to think about, but you should really try bundling up in layers and getting at least a little bit of fresh air/sunlight every day. It actually does help a lot. Snow hikes ftw :D Also there's lots of other outdoors stuff you can do like ice skating, skiing, 4wheeling, etc. Or just do something a bit more active indoors. Rearrange your living room. Start a new project. Clean junk out of your room and sell old stuff on craigslist or donate it to goodwill. Do anything to use your mind and body as much as you can and you'll be surprised how much easier it is to sleep at night.

That plus melatonin and I think you'll be alright.
