☛ Official ☚ The Big & Dandy Scale / Balance Thread - Part 2.000±

That sounds pretty great. So what's with SOS's contradictory information? Do they just not know ass from elbow, or what?

from the listing on the website

The JPDS has a readability as low as 0.002g.

NOTE: This scale displays that it reads in 0.01 Carat increments: it actually reads in 0.05 Carat increments. We are aware of this & are therefore offering this scale at a BLOWOUT price. This is one of the lowest priced jewelry/gem scales we carry & also available today. If you are fine with 0.05 Carat accuraccy, this scale is a winner!

^^ that's fine. I know what the website says. And yes, it is not a GREAT scale like an Acculab. But I have it. I ordered it from that website. And, it reads at 2mg. This is what was asked, no?

So the Jennings Precision 20 would be ok for measuring 30mg doses?

Edit: Wow - shipping to Australia is $75!! Anyone willing to help an Aussie BLer out with cheaper postage?? =D

The Big and Dandy Scale Thread (New incarnation!)

The Scale thread has also overgrown, so here is the new incarnation. The old one can be found in the archive here.

^^ ummm what?

Just got my Jennings 20 today. I put new batteries in cause the ones that came in it were complete SHIT. And still, every time I turn it on I get this on the display screen "Lo_" and then it turns off?

edit: It was just a bit cold..

I purchased the Acculab VIC-123 recently. It seems to be quite accurate. It needs to be plugged in and turned on for at least 20-30 minutes before it becomes stable enough to use, but that's not a big issue for me. The VIC-123 came with a 110v only adapter but fortunately I have a 220->110v transformer here which did the trick.

I would have bought it locally, however the authorized Acculab dealer in my region (Hong Kong) did not stock it and could only special order it for me. Ultimately it was cheaper and much faster to mail order from the USA and pay the ridiculous UPS shipping fee.

Hi everybody!
I've read many pages here about cheap ebay scales but wanna ask you some question. I need a scale to deal with MDMA and i live far from US so ebay is the best sorce for me because of cheap shipment. So i want to buy one of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/50-x-0-001-GRAM...ryZ34088QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
How do you think will it be ok for my purpose? Does anyone had this one before? Thanks :)

$25 for a 0.001gr scale? Ya gotta be kidding.
I doubt it will really weigh 0.001 reliably.
Might work for 0.01gr though, and who knows? Tech keeps shrinking both in size and in cost.
If you take the plunge plz let us know how it works out okay?

I was reading something earlier today and apparently these everyday items can be used to calibrate scales. *NOTE* all masess are approximate

if anyone has a chance to try these out please let us know. Oh, and you should obviously keep these items as clean as possible if you intend to use them this way since dirt and other stuff adds weight.

^ can vouch for bank note being 1 gram. Sometimes they came up .9 but my scale sucked hard. traded a j for it, so yea, get what you pay for.

nickels were often 4.9...that scale was probably just .1 under from time to time.

i got one of those ebay scales for like $10. As far as i know it works fine and i've never had any trouble with it.
yeah a US nickle weighs 5 grams, i read a article in hightimes about that. and it always comes up as 5 grams on my scale.

For someone who isn't using RC's or involved in drug selling, the ebay scale has worked just fine for me...and i got mines for dirt cheap...$10 including shipping...eh why not? but i wouldn't risk my life weighing out some RC on it. but it works fine for a novice
