The Big & Dandy Psilocybin Mushrooms Thread

There is a reason that movie is called "fear and loathing." It's essentially about a really bad trip. I'm not a fan of watching that under any influence.

It's also a really bad movie with poor representation of the effects of psychedelic drugs.

The movie is not meant to be about accurately representing anything. HST's work is not meant to be taken literally, but is usually a metaphor for something else. In the case of FaLiLV, it's the death of the American Dream.

And no, it's not a particularly good movie to watch under the influence.

Yeah, but many people who haven't done psychedelics before think that the film is an accurate representation.

It's not good (IMO) and it certainly wouldn't be a good idea to watch it during a trip for most people, T think.

yeah that movie is freaky in a bad way when you're on shrooms!

Hey guys...

Just thought I'd tell everyone about my last trip on shrooms. They were by FAR the most POTENT shrooms I've ever ingested. I ate about 3.5 grams and in just 15 minutes they started kicking in. I got them from an old hippie who grew them in his home.

The trip was a complete mind fuck. I got thoughts I never thought I would get while on shrooms. Suicidal, sexual, etc. I couldn't talk, I could barely walk. But while driving with my friend through the valley I saw the most beautifully vivid sunset ever. It was so beautiful.

When I paid $60 a quarter I told the guy that they better make me cum my pants... I am COMPLETELY satisfied... I wish I could always come across such potent shrooms.

I just ate 30g fresh.. starting to feel the first effects now. I'll be posting a real-time trip report, if I'll be able to write... on the trip reports forum..

fear and loathing

damn, that my favorite book....and so, the movie ranks up there pretty high.
i dont really think the movie is meant to be watched on shrooms, i'm the type who if u suggest everyone turning into slimy attack lizards while on shrooms, they do!!!
but, its fine to watch like a day after shrooms, shmoming the kind, remembering ur trip.

oh, i made the mistake of seeing edward scissorhands on acid, not a good idea at all!!!

I signed on here to find more about what properties in shrooms can be detected when being tested but apparently I cant ask those questions......

So will someone just private message me some kind of answers on the properties in shrooms, like traces of what can be found in your system, and recommended dosage intake and frequency for a first timer.......

Moderators please dont ban me cuz im asking people to private message me with this type of info. I came on here to get answers and I know theres guidelines but if i cant get that info then where am i supposed to get them this is the first place I thought of where i could get real info from knowledgeable individuals. Please I really need to know this stuff for my own peace of mind. I just need some direction if i cant get any answers here.

There's no problem with asking about this stuff, it's just that the question could be easily found by doing a little searching on your own. That's why your thread was closed. You could check Erowid.org, or usethe search engine here. We like to encourage people to do their own research because it contributes more to real education about drugs, and after all, all previous discussion that has even happened here can be searched for. :)

Basically, psychedelics are not tested for, by and large. This is mostly because they tend to be out of your system extremely quickly. LSD, for example, is out of your system before the effects are even over, so it would be ineffective to test for it. Likewise, the constituents of mushrooms, 4-HO-DMT (psilocin), 4-PO-DMT (psilocybin), 4-HO-NMT (baeocystin), and perhaps a handful of other lesser alkaloids are not tested for. It is possible to test for them, but unless you're going into a highly classified sort of situation, they won't be. The standard drug test tests for 5 drugs - amphetamines, opiates, marijuana, benzodiazepines, and PCP (I believe those are the 5). I have never heard of any psychedelic being tested for.

Long term effects of shrooms?

So I've only done shrooms like 5 times, the most recent time I hippyflipped (I loved it!) And my friend told me that he knew this guy that did shrooms a LOT, like every weekend? for a while. And he said that the guy is now visually fucked, like seeing colors that you would see while you were on shrooms, even when sober! Can this happen?

Also, what are some other long term effects of shrooms...anything damaging to the brain like ecstasy does? And how does it change people on a social/psychological level? My friend told me not to do shrooms, or any psychedelics, at all or very rarely because he told me accounts where people would just change and they're never the same...but at the same time I think, well, is it necessarily a bad change? I asked him that one time and he was like not necessarily...they're just kinda off and different, even a little socially awkward now. Is this possible too?

I still like shrooms though :) but I probably will do it sparingly

Psychedelics have the capacity to make you really evaluate your life, and mushrooms in particular, at least for me, always seem to peel back the curtain and see existence for what it really is, like waking up from a dream, but the dream is your ordinary life. Some people do not react well when they find out how insignificant and tiny we are. And it almost surely will change you in some way, just because how could a powerful experience like that not change you? I'd say that overall it can be a bit of a challenge to fit in with mainstream society after experience with tripping, but it's also what you make of it. And is mainstream society really getting us to where we want to be anyway?

As for seeing recurring colors and trails, that's called HPPD, which can develop in some people. I have tripped countless times and have not developed such a thing. But it is a real phenomenon. I would definitely recommend keeping your tripping to an infrequent level... doing it too much can cause problems. But occasional use I find to actually be a very healthy experience.

I personally know two people very well that have been diagnosed with schizophrenia after tripping one too many times from shrooms. I don't think it was due to the tripping, just an underlying condition that was brought forth by the shrooms.

My friends and I are getting some shrooms this weekend, but I had a question. We've also got a bunch of LSD, if we took the LSD say tonight, and then did the shrooms tomorrow night, would the LSD effect the shroom trip at all? As in tolerance-wise, cause I know that if you took LSD two days in a row, the LSD on the second day would be significantly less effective.
