Bluelighter
bought a jar of whole nutmeg nuts the other day. not sure how i'm going to go about the eating of them. wish i had some liquor to do an extraction with. gonna be broke for the foreseeable future though.
The only real downsides of nutmeg are the taste and the long onset time.
To be frank, I do not believe the FDA one bit when it says things like safrole and elemicin are "possibly hepatotoxic/carcinogenic". They're toxic in *rats*, not in humans...
I've merged this with the B&D thread
I always think this is a great article about nutmeg: http://www.science20.com/alpha_meme/i_am_going_nuts_really-80490
I don't know if it was the brand or the age of the product, but it's been over four hours, and so far, aside from some minor diarrhea, I've felt nothing.
Why thank you and welcome to bluelight!Been experimenting for several weeks. All doses are approximate (+/- 2g). All material consumed was premium pre-powdered spice originating in Indonesia. Subject is male, 35 years old, 190lbs, caucasian, and employed in computer science research at a major university. No significant history of illness, allergies, etc. Prior drug experience includes LSD (100+ doses), various RCs, psychedelic mushrooms (100+ doses), cannabis (daily, for long periods), amphetamines, narcotics, etc. Subject has abstained from all psychoactive drugs, barring occasional and light alcohol and caffine consumption, for 2+ years.
Powdered nutmeg was administered at 3 day intervals for two weeks. Powder was swallowed "dry" with water.
Dose < 15g: Noticable, though light, euphoria. Effects begin ~4 hours after consumption, peaking at T+6hrs, with return to baseline around T+18hrs. Mild impairment of short-term memory and increased urination, otherwise no noticable side effects.
Dose 10g - 20g: Moderate sustained euphoria, alternating with intermittant waves of dysphoria and anxiety. Noticable, mild disassociation. Inebriation similar to light cannabis intoxication, but without psychedelic effects. Effects begin ~3 hours after consumption, peaking at T+8 hours, with return to baseline at around T+36hrs. Markedly increased urination, dry throat, elevated heart rate. Mild-moderate short-term memory impairment (comparable to moderate doses of cannabis). Occasional slips into dreamlike states lasting a couple seconds.
Dose > 20g: Heavy disassociation with memory impairment. Euphoria during onset, with anxiety and feelings of doom dominating during the peak phase. Similar timeline to moderate doses, but with an extended hangover/comedown phase (baseline at T+48hrs). Marked inebriation, with some motor difficulty. Periods of dreamlike delerium and/or profound disassociation, lasting up to five minute. Increased need for urination, but with some difficulty urinating. Dry throat, noticably elevated heart rate (resting heart rate 140 at ~T+8hrs), tendency to gasp for breath. Tingling and numbness in extremeties, similar to strong vasoconstrictors (e.g., ergot derivatives). Prolonged constipation. Prolonged hangover.
Addictive potential: No cravings or withdrawal symptoms after cessation of effects, even with regular use over one month.
Use in combination with even very light doses (1-2 standard drinks / 2 hours) of alcohol during the peak phase markedly increases the negative and inebriant effects of both substances.
