THE COMPLETE Fillmore West Recordings, 1969 (10 discs)

In addition to Stimming let me recommend the Beatles 'Sgt' Pepper' (the whole album). I spent one acid trip listening to that album over and over. It was awesome.

I tripped this past Wednesday and listened to Stimming, VNV Nation, and Skrillex. All were awesome, but especially Stimming. wow. just wow.

The Beatles are a treat sometimes, like the poster above said, the Sgt Pepper album is like candy for the ears.

Also had a fun time listening to Daft Punk's Tron Soundtrack.

i looove classic rock when im tripping

boards of canada is real trippy stuff. its electronica but its very different from most stuff it has an ambient psychedelic quality to it it times there shit is very serene and peaceful other times its just down right eerie.

a is to b as b is to c , ROYGBIV, iced cooly, and aquarius, are good songs by boards of canada

aphex twin and intfected mushroom are really good electronica artists

converting vegetarians is probably my favourite infected mushroom song

^ Sounds like you have a lot of similar tastes in the music department. I loveeee Aphex Twin. Theres no one like him. Boards of Canada is also very...weird, but really good. Classic rock is just classic. =]

Just a reminder to everyone to come and vote in the Best song of 2010 poll

- There are 12 songs to choose from - everything from dubstep to drum & bass to psytrance to techno

- Please give each of the songs a listen before you cast your vote (there are youtube links to all the songs in the first post of the thread :) )

Gogol Bordello, Propaghandi, and Streetlight Manifesto was an awesome mix to listen to on my last trip.

Otherwise-
Bad Religion
Filthy Thieving Bastards
The Generators
Flogging Molly
American Steel
Born to Lose
Mad Sin
12 Step Rebels

Sage Francis or Eyedea n' Ability if I want something a bit more mellow

cross post from other music/acid thread lol

Deerhunter - Halycon Digest

and

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest

are pretty much the two best psychedelic albums. while not my top two favorite albums to come from the indie movement, they are the two albums that "wow" me/impress me the most. there is a level of craft, beauty, and attention to detail and holism in these albums that is unprecedented. you'll be able to hear so many little noises in that state of mind that just come together so perfectly. Highlights: "He Would Have Laughed" from Halycon Digest and "Ready, Able" from Veckatimest

but i'll also give a more comprehensive list

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

absolute classic album, not only is it fantastic sober but the psychedelic sound is perfect while tripping. the cohesion of the lyrics and the "story" told by the lyrics is a great one to learn

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

not my favorite radiohead album by a long shot, but i can say with some credence (given that radiohead is by far my favorite band and i've listened to all of their material obsessively for years) that this one is tops for psychedelia. Kid A is fairly trippy as well, but Hail has the perfect blend of trippiness (songs like myxamatosis and the gloaming) mood/ambience (2 + 2 = 5, wolf at the door, sail to the moon) and sheer, raw energy (SO many of these! sit down stand up, where i end you begin, backdrifts...) it's a bit inaccessible and bizarre without a lot of listening when you're sober, but it all comes together beautifully while under the influence

Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

Classic album, and my personal favorite of all time. its a somewhat odd suggestion given its relative sonic minimalism, but the purity of the emotion and intention behind it is just undeniable and REALLY shines through when you're in one of those inspired, incredible states that only a good trip can bring you.

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV

fucking kickass Led Zep album, although i enjoy Physical Graffiti more as a standalone album, there are certain songs on this one that are just perfect for tripping. Battle of Evermore, When the Levee Breaks... oh jesus. that sick, impenetrable, steadfast thump of bonham's legendary drum beat in that song is perfect. you feel transported to an arid world of sand, showdowns, and guns - right in the old west.

For me you cant beat jimi hendrix for an acid trip, he was an absolute genius i love his music when sober but on acid its out of this world, its taken me to other dimensions and i have heard him talking to me with his guitar. Third stone from the sun is especially good.

I could not agree more. I had discovered the beauty of music just shortly before i discovered the beauty of LSD. I remember the most amazing trips i have had especially back then seemed to have a soundtrack with Hendrix or Pink Floyd playing full volume through my head. I also noticed how the music in my head on trips is something very unique to music. I really believe that a lot of famous psychedelic music was just an attempt to mimic the sounds and melodies that the drugs allowed the mind to experience.

I also heard that the guy who wrote most of the lyrics for the Greatful Dead was one of the first people to use LSD in tests done by a university. Not to mention Owsley was their sound guy.

Beirut - The Flying Club Cup album.

+1

also, i just want to hug those guys at The Chemical Brothers, just had the most wonderful night just listening to 4 of their earlier albums (with some tryptamine goodness thrown in the mix). felt completly taken away. just listen to - the big jump - or, even better -The Test-.
