Eat Static rule in general, but when you're tripping genre-transcending alien fantasies are incredible.

I like DJ Shadow too, and a bit of classical music is a treat while tripping.
EDIT: Thanks very much for those links R&M, I enjoyed them a great deal.

A little Krautrock perhaps?

The band - Can. Erm - Starting point would have to be Tago Mago. Trippy grooves and sonic ramblings from Germany. There a track on that album ('Oh Yeah') where the fella sings in German but the vocals are all backwards. Never fails to give me a peculiar but delicios sense of forboding.

John Scofield's "Uberjam" is a great one, tripping or not. It is definitely inspired by psychedelics (one of the songs is called "Acidhead").

It is basically Jam oriented jazz fusion. Scofield is easily one of the best guitarists alive. Possibly ever. He is definitely influenced by the Dead on this album and in general. He played with Phil Lesh and friends for a tour which I thankfully got to catch.

Also, if you like Medeski Martin and Wood you could check out Scofield's "A Go Go" as they are the backing band on that album. Another great one from him is "Up all Night" which is basically rocked out electronic jazz fusion.

All these albums are highly recommended if you like rock or jazz.

I really don't like upbeat electronic while I'm tripping. I'm more of an ambient guy. The music just seems to gel with the trip and put me in a nice, relaxed place where my mind can float free.

Carbon Based Lifeforms
Aes Dana
Androcell
X.I.S.
Solar Fields
Capsula
etc.

The most incredible albums I've ever heard on acid are two of Delerium's albums, Karma and Poem
Poem and Karma are two of my favorites as well. They survive the ketamine frequency shifts unscathed, are immersive, and on K, shrooms, and LSD they are incredible for generating closed eye visuals. Especially with decent headphones.
Complete experiences, those albums.

Quoting a post from 2003 because he's so right! =D

If anyone gets the chance. . .try Enigma - Traces (Light and Weight). See if that doesn't put you in the most spiritual, divine place you've ever been. Heavenly.
