☮ Social ☮ The Big & Dandy Movies for Tripping Thread

Scanner Darkly & Waking Life were both rotoscoped by the same company. Personally I think it worked a lot better in A Scanner Darkly.

Existenz (existential virtual reality film with grotesque bio computers, one of my favourite films of all time)

videodrome (If you can handle some DARK shit while tripping)

avalon (virtual reality film filmed in a weird sort of sepia filter)

12 monkeys (terry gilliam time travel film with bruce willis of all people)

black mirror (not a film but a short series of unrelated dystopian shorts)

Im a cyborg but thats ok (korean romantic comedy about a woman convinced she is a cyborg and a man who steals peoples mental illnesses)

Izo (japanese film about a samurai who is shot through time to various horrible events as punishment for an unknown crime)

I could list more but I'm hungry

You and I have similar taste in movies we like to watch fucked up. Existenz is awesome IMO, but for some reason it's super divisive. I think Izo (my favorite of Miike's) is probably the same way. I gave Avalon a skip but now I think I'll check it out. It's on Netflix Instant at the moment ... damn, so is I'm a Cyborg But That's Ok.

Beyond the Black Rainbow looks intriguing in a "holy fucking 70s interior decorating nuthouse" way, too. Too bad it's still touring and only hitting select theaters on the coasts.

I thinkm we wil have to agree to disagree on that one I thought waking life was much better than a scanner darkly but im not a keeano reeves fan.

How has no one even mentioned Scary movies? like the series Scary movie you have so much Dejavu you start freaking out wondering if you hit rewind or something lol.

[media subthread] Watching movies while tripping; Movies to watch while tripping

I always see so much people talking about this and I've tried some of the most common psych's available at low and high doses (with exception of lsd) and i always felt like watching TV or movies brought me away from the trip and back into reality, I never got hallucinations on the actual tv itself (maybe slight confusion a few times) only the shape of the actual tv moving etc and then afterwards of watching the movie felt more sober and disappointed which causes me to be a bit depressed.

I also found a guy on youtube called World Cruise , this guys walks around citys with a hd camera and just records everyday life, I find this EXTREMELY soothing during a bad trip, it allays makes me so relaxed.

I love watching tv shows during come ups though, keeps your mind off any anxiety.

anyone else feel the same?

I watched "Perfect Blue" which is a crazy anime movie the other night & took a small dose of MXE a bit into it. It was a great horror/mindfuck movie but on MXE it's kinda like I can't feel the emotion of fear properly, but it was still good. The night before that I watched "Eraserhead" & my god that freaked me out! I never really get scared by a movie but that was just disturbing not because of the plot (if there even is one) but the whole mood & eerieness it has. I really don't think I could handle it while tripping. That's the first time in my adult life that a movie actually gave me a nightmare.
I watched it online here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6839699448154980871#

Two hits put me into lala land, I took a shower and the water was like... thick and the floor tiles were moving, i was texting my friend and the letters were alive almost and shimmering around. I didn't see anything hard core though, I watched American Dad and laughed at the stupidest parts- I remember understanding everything about the show being so clear and every time something stupid was said I would take it so seriously and then laugh about it for like ten minutes and go back to watching... hahaha

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World on Shrooooms

Me and my buddy were watchin scott pilgrim vs.the world last night and i've always loved that movie, its seemed surreal at points even when i was sober, and god damn it seems like it'd be trippy. Anyone seen this movie while trippin, cuz if you have i'd really like to know how that went. Watched Kick-ass one time on shrooms and was crying the whole time, was very confused too cuz it was my first time watching it

hmm I own scott pilgrim vs the world and I am getting heaps of shrooms soon, I will try this out and report back!

Next time i get ahold of some shrooms that movie is gettin watched for sure, it's crazy sober. I Definitely wanna hear about that experience SC. And sun i should'lve been more specific but i meant crying from laughter, damn that movies hilarious.

i thought that once, so one time me and buddy made a plan to munch and just walk around outside all night it was a beautiful night didnt see anything wrong with it, but we were flying way to high to be walkin around in public. Thats how i am on that shit, its hard for me to be around anyone that isnt trippin, and in public. Can't plan your night on shroooms, i still dont have this drug figured out.

I really enjoyed watching it on 4-meo-pcp. Also seen it drunk, stoned, tripping, and any combination thereof. I'm a big fan of the comic though, so I don't know how much my opinion flies in general, but yeah it's enjoyable enough.

dont like TV on psychedelics or dissociatives, but once i watched "enter the void" on MXE. probably pretty much a expierience on its own, but on drugs it was just a step too intense.

I watched enter the void on mxe too on a pretty nice strong dose alone with no lights on. My god was that one hell of a mind fuck. Like you said it was extreamly intense and at times it felt like I was actualy experiencing those events my self.

the second time I did MXE I watched that with my roommate and I remember being so mindfucked, by the MXE and the film. Every so often we would just look at eachother like "WHAT IN THE FUCK IS GOING ON". I tried to rewatch it the other night while on MXE again (much lower dose) because I didn't remember anything about it and it actually gave me my first bad trip on MXE.

Movies and TV are perfect for the come-ups and tail ends of my acid trips. Passes time for the waiting period inbetween sober and tripping.

One fo my last trips was spent watching DBZ. This was fun, but I would have much more enjoyed just chillen outside. After tripping indoors with movies and TV plenty of times now I can definitely say I'd rather be outside, atleast for a majority of the trip.

Every time I go from inside to outside while tripping I think to myself " woah, there is so much more to look at out here" haha.
