So, my mom decided that the morning glory plants were dying and looking ugly, so she tore them down. So yesterday I went through our yard debris and collected 173 pods! There were a lot more that I didn't collect, that were infested with fungus. (My state is very very rainy...)
I took some time to sort through the seeds.
6 pods were ready to harvest immediately. I got 18 seeds from them. (There is between 1-4 seeds in a pod, and having a high average of 3seeds/pod is nice. :D )
105 pods are immature, their outsides are green and where I can see the seeds (from broken tops or bottoms) the seeds are white and unripe.
I ran out of time, so then I had 62 unsorted seeds. I threw those into a tupperware container which I poured salt into. The idea is that you want to dehydrate the unripe seeds to make them mature and dried out. Dehydrating the seeds will also stop any fungus from growing.
Today I sorted my 62 unsorted seed. (I had lost one somewhere along the way, only 61 were at the end.)
6 were mushy, highly suspicious of having fungus in them.
14 pods were immature, and I put them with the immature seeds.
but 41 were close to harvest! Their pod-shells are crispy and have some air in them, which means the seeds have shrank.
I think that a good way to prepare immature seeds is by airing them out infront of a space-heater with a fan (which I am doing right now), but putting them in a container with salt is also good for drying them out.
If I wanted to trip right now, I might just open up all of them and eat them now, but I want them to be dried so that I can store and wait to trip.

In front are the 6 mushy pods, then 41 close-to-harvest pods, then 55 seeds, then 100+ immature pods.
