The Big & Dandy First-Time-Tripper Thread

Blotter that lasts three days? What exactly is on it cause that ain't LSD; DOx or something?

Opioids and most psychedelics don't have any interactions as far as I know, unless the psychedelic is an MAOI in which case there could be a danger. Opioids can be useful for relieving bodyload even or calming you down if the trip is a little too intense. Find out exactly what the chemical is that you're going to ingest though; a three day trip doesn't sound right. :\

im not sure whats in it i will def find out my friend tried it took 2 hits supposidly lasted 3 days but u know how people exagerate its from florida thats all i know but i will have to research this maoi and dox more thanx

please help

Im am a Newbie when it comes to psychedelics.
I have plenty of experience with the following: Marijuana, Cocaine, Ecstasy, Methamphetamine, Valiums and other Benzos and pain medication. I have experienced minor hallucinations before but nothing major. I smoked salvia the other day and it had no effect on me ( I did it correctly) . Alot of my friends experiment with shrooms and acid and I wanted to try it but I am afraid of having a nervous breakdown. I once had a mix of Ambien and alot of weed and i started to hallucinate but I ended up getting scared and paranoid. I like to experience new drugs and explore how the mind changes on the drug. I have a few questions about this topic though:
1. What phsychadelic besides salvia would be a good start for someone who is not familiar to hallucinations?
2. How much of the phschycadelic would be needed to have a good experience?
3. On the said psychedelic what would help me prepare for the experience ahead?
4. If something were to happen how would I calm myself down?
5. Did you have anxiety prior to tripping?

Hi I'm a first time LSD user and I'm going to be very careful about using this drug such as I am going to be taking a low doseage just to get comfertable with the feeling of LSD probs either half or maybe even a quater of a tab depending on how I feel at that point. I will be dropping in about a weeks time with a close friend his sister and her boyfriend im very intrested in the whole psychedlic trip i have been considering trying it for about 6 months and am fairly confident in my ability to handle it. I guess I would have 3 guides since my friend has dropped about 4 times and his sister and her boyfriend countless times so any advice you could give me about LSD would be greatly appreciated some questions I have are what would be a good set setting such as comfy seats and what have you. Would this effect my trip to a extent if at all such as the sense of feeling, music as well would this effect my trip greatly or slightly.

Thanks
-J-

^Set and setting are integral to the way your trip will go/flow. Anywhere you are comfortable, both in the physical and mental sense. A good friends home, your own, a relatively quiet outdoor park are all good places. Maybe ensure that you have more than one place where you can chill, because sometimes simply changing your surroundings can have a profound impact on the trip.

As far as music goes, whatever you normally enjoy, you will enjoy immensely on acid. Good luck and happy journeys.

yeah my friend said they regularly go on walks either during the peak or just after and dubstep and psy/goa will probably be playing and i enjoy them massivly while smoking weed so cant wait to hear them on acid should be fun

Hmm, probably not done correctly then.

Well, salvia is a shocking choice for a first time psychedelics; it is truly mind warping in a highly unpleasant (to many) way. I would not be using that one were I trying to find a drug I was comfortable with. LSD, mushrooms, mescaline or DMT would be what I'd look at, most probaly DMT because of how short acting it is. As to dosage of whatever you choose, I'd suggest reading through the various threads here :)

I always have some anxiety prior to tripping; if it is too strong I generally won't dose, though I have many times anyway...To me at least its borderling worry and excitement, which usually transforms nicely as my psychedelic brain comes online. Anxiety is normal before any experience that is intense, but psychedelic anxiety is quite different. The only time it bothers me greatly is if it pops up during a trip, but it can be dealt with by breathing, relaxing and rememebering that theres nothing to worry about ever. Easier said then done.

If you have been troubled by ambien I would suggest you take it very slowly when attempting a psychedelic.

Sounds like you're in good hands then. Haven't heard dubstep while tripping, I could imagine it would be some growly, rumbly fun. Enjoy!

Can someone link to the 6-point scale of psychedelic experiences? First time with Salvia last night. It was either 2 or 3, but I need to fine tune it.

^The scales only for salvia.

The SALVIA Experiential Rating Scale
Level - 1 "S" stands for SUBTLE effects. A feeling that "something" is happening, although it is difficulty to say just what. Relaxation and increased sensual appreciation may be noted. This mild level is useful for meditation and may facilitate sexual pleasure.

Level - 2 "A" stands for ALTERED perception. Colors and textures are more pronounced. Appreciation of music may be enhanced. Space may appear of greater or lesser depth than is usual. But visions do not occur at this level. Thinking becomes less logical, and more playful; short-term memory difficulties may be noted.

Level - 3 "L" stands for LIGHT visionary state. Closed-eye visuals (clear imagery with eyes closed: fractal patterns, vine-like and geometric patterns, visions of objects and designs). The imagery is often two dimensional. If open-eyed visual effects occur, these are usually vague and fleeting. At this level, phenomena similar to the hypnagogic phenomena that some people experience at sleep onset occur. At this level, visions are experienced as "eye candy" but are not confused with reality.

Level - 4 "V" stands for VIVID visionary state. Complex three-dimensional realistic appearing scenes occur. Sometimes voices may be heard. With eyes open, contact with consensual reality will not be entirely lost, but when you close your eyes you may forget about consensus reality and enter completely into a dreamlike scene. Shamanistic journeying to other lands--foreign or imaginary; encounters with beings (entities, spirits) or travels to other ages may occur. You may even live the life of another person. At this level you have entered the shaman's world. Or if you prefer: you are in "dream time." With eyes closed, you experience fantasies (dream like happenings with a story line to them). So long as your eyes are closed you may believe they are really occurring. This differs from the "eye candy" closed-eye imagery, of level 3.

Level - 5 "I" stands for IMMATERIAL existence. At this level one may no longer be aware of having a body. Consciousness remains and some thought processes are still lucid, but one becomes completely involved in inner experience and looses all contact with consensual reality. Individuality may be lost; one experiences merging with God/dess, mind, universal consciousness, or bizarre fusions with other objects--real or imagined (e.g. experiences such as merging with a wall or piece of furniture). At this level it is impossible to function in consensual reality, but unfortunately some people do not remain still but move around in this befuddled state. For this reason a sitter is essential to ensure the safety of someone voyaging to these deep levels. To the person experiencing this the phenomenon may be terrifying or exceedingly pleasant; but to an outside observer the individual may appear confused or disoriented.

Level 6 - "A" stands for AMNESIC effects. At this stage, either consciousness is lost, or at least one is unable to later recall what one had experienced. The individual may fall, or remain immobile or thrash around; somnambulistic behavior may occur. Injuries can be sustained without pain being felt; on awakening, the individual will have no recollection of what he/she did, experienced, or said in level 6. People cannot recall what they experience in this very deep trance state. This is not a desirable level, because nothing can latter be recalled of the experience.

Thanks,

I had great CEV patterns, and even a few montages/vignettes, but no immersive experiences. A 3 it is.

I guess I'll try stronger and harder.

I'm looking for a 5, but I'm not sure what I'll gain out of it. Should I be more focused, or take what comes?

I took 4.2 grams(first time) of psilocybin shrooms last night, and I was expecting some sort of visual or something, but nothing really happened. Everything had a nice orange glow and colors/lights were extremely vibrant, I seemed to understand my dog and didn't care about being in nature, actually I preferred it. But everyone always talks about the crazy trips on shrooms even with smaller doses than mine, but I was disappointed. Is there any particular reason I wouldn't have hallucinated? I ate them on an emtpy stomach by the way, and the effects lasted almost 5 hours.

If your hefty it could have been that or just weak mushrooms. Normally 4.2 grams would have been blasted out of my mind.

Did you eat them dry or wet?

^
yeah, it could just be weak mushrooms. i got a bunch a few months back that were just shitty. we each ate an 8th and definitely felt something, but it never blossomed into a real trip.

They weren't very moist but were still chewy. I ate them with peanut butter, and that's all I had eaten that day.

Probably the ideal first trip would be about 15mg of smoked DMT.

Usually this isn't the first substance people come across though :)

im yet to come across DMT unfortunately, but anyway. next monday, my friend and i will have an acid trip. now itll be his first time, so i was wondering if any of you more experienced trippers have any suggestions for a good day tripping balls?
at the moment we plan on dropping, then hanging out in the forest for a while, smoking some ganja on the comeup or plataeu,[we are both frequent smokers] then walking back to his place and getting comfy with cushions and lava lamps and probably listening to some pink floyd.

so any suggestions? lights? trippy things?

Sounds like a good plan already to me. Make sure you have heaps of different music as well. Enjoy :)
