The Big & Dandy First-Time-Tripper Thread

Bad trip = worst experience of my life. Put me off it forever
First time was pretty cool though

I tried my first psychedelic (salvia) a few days ago but didn't trip. I used a gravity bong while keeping the flame on, and held it in as long as I could. Each of the 4 bowls seemed like smoking weed, but without the euphoria and a more intensely distorted high (things were slightly pulsing/reverberating at times, gravity felt weird, etc). I did have a laughing fit though, and can now say I have actually rofl'ed. I'll be trying again soon, with a larger initial dose (it's 10x standardized) to get at deeper effects.

One thing I noticed was my ability to stay anchored to sober reality if I kept vigilant and focused. For some reason seeing my girlfriend on my computer (skype) made me come to my senses somewhat and I could realize that gravity wasn't messed up. But then if I would lay down on my bed immediately after and closed my eyes and let go then I would be feeling the effects again. I know with higher doses this probably won't be possible, but has anyone experienced a similar effect?

Hi everyone, while theres a thread up I may as well ask, I should be trying mushrooms, golden teachers for the first time in about a month, I've read a fair bit about these beauties and they seem amazing, very spiritual with a more natural feeling than LSD I've heard (though I haven't tried LSD yet I'm sure the time will come).

I've smoked salvia divinorum once tripped (unintentionally at the time)and had what seemed like a voyage to another dimension, like a living working structure, I had no sense of my body or physical surroundings time became nothing and became immersed in this new realm.
This didn't really give me any fright I had a feeling of wonder, astonishment and sheer amazement at the same time, I came back from the trip feeling new with this beautiful, strange spiritual experience behind me.

I'm planning on journeying alone for my first time, would anyone suggest otherwise? Ill eat like one mushroom at a go and see how it goes, building up from there If I feel I'll need anymore.

Peace and love to all.

^^I wouldnt probably trip alone for your first time. Unelss its a pretty small dose. Have a friend around who you trust and can talk to about anything. Cause sometimes shit gets pretty crazy. And weigh the mushroom before you do it. Because depending on the size, it could be way to much and overwhelm you. 2grams is a good dose to start at IMHO. it treated me pretty nice the first time :D

I would suggest exploring psychedelics in the way that you feel it will be most beneficial for you. If that means that you want to trip alone then you should trip alone. I think that the introspective trips are important for the self.

You can expect that you will not 'breakthrough' on mushrooms. Salvia and mushrooms are very different.

As for a starting dose. i would suggest 2-3.5 grams. I'm big on heavy doses. But for your first trip you might want to seriously consider the lower level of that scale. 3.5 grams can rock your world, but so can 2 grams.

If your trip gets rough just remember that you're on mushrooms and that it will end eventually. Working through a tough trip or just letting it all go can be super beneficial.

Mushrooms can be rough, beautiful and amazing.

I hope you have a great time!

Peace and love.

Thanks for the quick replies people, I'll have to buy some scales to weigh them out properly before eating! I believe I'll be ok on my own, I'll start off with 1.5/2g's, how much would this equate to in wet mushrooms? I plan on meditating, writing some poetry listening to some Jimi Hendrix/ The Doors/Jefferson airplane playing a bit of the guitar/ whatever else comes to mind, I guess I'll take it as it comes really not over thinking it all.

They lose ~90% of their weight when bone dry, so 2g dry is about 20g wet. It's a good starting dose, I would say. You're not going to flip out on 2g of cubes.

Less of a plan and not over thinking is a good idea. LSD can be directed much better. Mush kinda takes you where IT wants to =).

Beginner's guide to Psychedelics?

Design a plan for someone completely open, free and of sound mind & body, that wants to experience psychedelics in a very positive, emotional and spiritual way. Such as what compound and dose should I begin with? And what literature, links etc, should I begin reading and understanding before moving to the chemical experience?

Specifically what do you need to know about me to accomplish this?

*EDIT*
I understand that mushies are a great start. I will be committing to 2g first time.

In addition I will have xanax, trip sitter and Erowid's Psychedelic Crisis FAQ immediately available.

Suggestions for a friend's introduction to psychs

My own introduction was so long ago - and with nobody who had any experience with them. Just some friends messing around for a few hours.

I am toying with the possibility of going to the beach (a ~40min walk, or a short bike ride, from my house) if it is a nice day - however social anxiety might be an issue. My perspective on such is somewhat skewed, as my Asperger Syndrome ensures that I have a "healthy" level of anxiety in any social situation.

What features would you recommend to include in a first-timer's trip?

Please, no "UTFSE", I UTFSE'd for 1.5 hours without finding anything relevant

DMT, actually is a good contender.

Otherwise the toss-up would be between LSD and Mushrooms; with me favoring the former and many others favoring the later -- psiloc(ib)in was always sort of dark and challenging for me, though, L usually brighter and more welcoming. Now, DMT, THERE'S welcoming.

1st time LSD suggestions

So I've done a lot of ketamine over the past several years but that's really the only psychedelic I've had much experience with (other than DXM a couple times). I'm planning to try acid for the first time soon and just want to get some suggestions from more experienced members. I've seen bits and pieces of advice on other threads here but I guess I'm wondering exactly how I should prepare, setting, music, etc. I always did ketamine IM alone, in the dark or maybe just some slight mood lighting, with soft music in the background (mostly for spiritual effects/revelations). Same goals for the acid but since I won't be traveling down a k-hole this time around, I assume the standard procedure there should also change?

Merged in your query and stuck this thread so people use it a bit more....:)

A good LSD experience, IMO, needs very little; good LSD for starters ;), some pot for after, comfortable surrounds (either outdoors or in) ie. cushions, beanbags, etc. I prefer gentle music when on acid, so its usually ambient or chill out sorta stuff.....gentle lighting from candles is nice, the flickering light certainly elicits some interesting visuals. Incense is a must.... Be prepared for a vast difference between LSD and ketamine; LSD does give one much more power to actually observe and interact with the trip, as opposed to ketamine. Also, LSD is nowhere near as immersive as ket, but is much more traditionally visual. Meditation is good on LSD; impossible (IMO) on ketamine. Try it :)

lol at this thread. I feel conflicted. Is it against HR to say "Have a place you feel comfortable at for the next 12 hours and just eat it."?

You should get glowsticks and shoestrings. Tie the glowstick on, and goto youtube to figure how to spin em :D

stringing is GREAT for passing time on LSD.

Just find a comfortable enviornment you can chill, laid back music that you like, or something with depth. Trance music and Pink floyd are my favorite. Too much floyd freaks me out though.. The first time you trip you'll likely be completely occupied the whole time by all the new experiences and perceptions of everyday things.

I stared at a box of lemonade watching it breathe and the lemons sort of dance around for about an hour the first time I tripped, off one small blotter tab.

Oh and I suggest reading everything you can about the drug before you take it, and trip reports. Hoffmans bicycle trip report is the best. You can benefit from LSD alot if you have the right mindset and expectations etc etc

LSD for first time, need tips

Well everyone, tomorrow at exactly 2 pm I will be tripping on LSD for my first time =D Quick question tho, the person dropped the acid on some sweettarts, and it's dried, and its being cooled which is the proper way I've heard (never done acid before). Anyways, should I just chew up the sweettarts and hold it under my toung for 5 minutes, or any recommendations? Wish me luck on my first trip into the psychadelic world :D

-and to add, should I mix shrooms with it my first time, if all I have is 1.5 hits? I'm familiar with shrooms.

Anything you wish you would have done your first time to enhance your trip, or any tips? Thanks.
