Dissociatives The Big & Dandy DXM Thread - Part 2 - Robojesus, forgive us our sins

I always used bottle water but i cant really see a way tap water would affect it. Unless there is some un-acountable things in your water I would go for it.

I'm fortunate to live in an area where our water is minimally treated, though I may go with this bottled H2O (which, as an irrelevant side note is labelled "artesian water" [ostensibly from an aquiferous source], not artisan which would imply that is was crafted ;) ) Thanks dextrodoctor.

What's your favorite dose to do DXM on? I tend to prefer 3rd plat... exploring my imaginary worlds is wonderfully peaceful and stress relieving. I feel like once you've gone to fourth plat a few times and really enjoyed the experience, the lower two plats don't really matter at all.

I love the 3rd plat for tripping balls but 2nd plat has a special place in my heart for taking the dose and bussing into my city and just having a ridiculous day. The last time I did that I had in depth conversations with hare krishna monks and bought one of their books.

I've been reading about Leary's "8 circuit model of consciousness" lately and the 4 "upper" levels of consciousness seem to line up as parallels to the four plateaus of DXM. First plateau can bring about euphoria, enhanced thinking, and generally just feeling good... the second plateau is when the dissociative effects grow stronger and the visuals really start to appear. People may feel like they can connect with others more as their barriers of self begin to break down and visions start entering their minds once their eyes are closed... my friends have sometimes felt like DXM really increases emotional connections between them, so while they may not necessarily gain the ESP and psionic abilities Leary and co. described, but they definitely begin to see their normal ways of thought change as dissociation lets them "step back" and observe things from a slightly different angle. The third plateau lines up smoothly with the 7th circuit of consciousness... as dissociation and visuals are cranked up a few more notches, the concept of self has become heavily eroded (however, it has not yet been completely removed). As people begin to heavily lose themselves in their dream worlds, they may feel like they're beginning to merge with something greater and outside of themselves, although the shift is not all done. And the 8th circuit of conscious, ego death and extreme dissocation, need not be explained.

Maybe I'm just a junkie with a fried brain, but I feel that the map Leary attempted to make of the mind and the map we have of DXM highs just link together awfully well. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

I have abused DXM so much in my lifetime that now when i take it it just feels like "the other sober state of being" because i was in that mode of consciousnesses for so long it started becoming normal. I took a long break yet DXM still feels nothing like it used to and i now require a radical dose to become "intoxicated" off of it. These days i just occasionally use DXM in conjunction with psychedelics when my stash of other NMDA receptor antagonists like Ketamine or MXE run out.

^I've been messing with the first plateau lately, since NMDA antagonist tolerance doesn't come into play, DXM can make an interesting combo drug to spice up other chemicals this way.

i've been saying this for years, even a low-to-mid-first-plateau dose of DXM can make a 5HT-2A trip three-fold more interesting.

Hey guys, First post :D. I have a mild tolerance to dxm, And i took 300mg about 20 minutes ago along with a can of beer. Which plateau will i expect?

Well It Has finally hit me. And I'm at a high 2nd. I weigh 140 lb. Also drank another 12 oz. Can. Should expect it to peak into a 3rd?

I'm not. I've had 2+ years experience with it. I'm just limited on my dxm And only had 300mg (one bottle of Robitussin soft gels) And It seems as if anything below 300mg doesn't even get me to 1st plateau. Therefore I'm trying to find some potentiators.

Well, if you've been using for years, you should wait a few months until your tolerance goes away. Take more DXM. Lose weight. Take DPH with it and drink a large amount of grapefruit juice. Take DXM on an empty stomach. All of these tips in combination will have DXM leaving a much more profound effect on you...

I'm not sure if you know this, but the plateaus of DXM are based on a combination of the user's weight and the amount of DXM, rather than the amount of DXM alone. Bookmark this site for future reference: http://dxm.darkridge.com/calc.html If you have the time to spare, you should really read the DXM FAQ sometime too. You'll learn a lot more about how DXM should be used and how to get the most from it. Be safe!

If under 300mg won't get you to a first plat trip, how could mixing a bit of alcohol with 300mg bring you to a third plat trip? Please, please, please read about the drug before you do serious harm to yourself! Just because DXM comes in an over the counter form doesn't mean it's a safe drug by any means.

That's really unfortunate, dextrodoctor. Were you taking any MXE or Ketamine during your "long break?" Some say those two might raise DXM tolerance.

Haven't looked into it, but I wonder if it's possible to use other drugs to lower your tolerance, similar to how DXM is is used to lower tolerance to amphetamine and opiates?

BTW, your encouragement helped a ton. I decided to go with a DXM 5g/H20 400mL (12.5 mg/mL) solution, since the house isn't very warm this time of year. Very little crystallization at the bottom so far. Bitter as heck ;) Have you noticed that DXM, in addition to having that acrid flavor, is actually somewhat numbing to the tongue as well?

I found something that may be of interest to everyone:

What the researchers found was the greater a person's decrease in renal functioning, the greater the decrease in overall cognitive functioning, particularly abstract reasoning and verbal memory.

So I have some questions:

1) Do you believe that your past DXM use has led to reduced cognitive functioning, particularly in the areas of abstract reasoning and/or verbal memory?

2) Were you mainly using:
a. cough syrups
b. pure powder
c. pills
d. Coricidin

3) Were you using other drugs at the time?
a. If yes, what drugs were you taking?

You can see where I'm going with this: glucose overdose -> kidney malfunction -> reduced mental functioning. It's probably a shaky theory, but one worth considering, I think :)

I have no mental issues after taking at least a week long break (thats how long the mental fog takes to lift) from DXM I have ingested all forms of DXM be it pure a solution cough syrup pills over 300 different times sometimes at ridicules doses at least 30 instances I doses above 1000mg. I do think Im too young to notice issues with my kidneys or liver. I took an official IQ test (which I dont really hold in high regard) at the age of 15 (when i first started using DXM) I scored at 138. 4 years later at the age of 18 I scored a 144. My memory however is fucked but im a poly drug user and a constant sativa breatha.

I dont know how useful the iQ score thing is the rise is most likely to me getting better at math in high school so I did better on the matrices.

Thank you for replying, dextrodoctor. I don't know much about IQ tests, but if they rely heavily on accrued knowledge then they are useless, IMO. In fact, there are many different types of intelligence out there, and I can't see any standardized test accounting for them all.

I take a low dose of DXM every day - 150mg time release. I've been doing this for years and I have had some health problems, but my doctor at the time could find no connection. There's really not that much sugar in the syrup. My last standardized test was the GRE - 1540/1600. Back before DXM, I had a 1350/1600 on the SAT. Frankly, the overall beneficial effects of DXM more than compensate for any harm it might be doing - my brain works more or less properly, I can relate to society if I care to, etc.

Summary of health problems: I developed sarcoidosis and after 6 months of prednisone and chloroquine therapy, insulin dependent diabetes. I will note that blood sugar levels are critically important to cognition, as any diabetic can tell you.

I believe that DXM enhances my my ability to reason abstractly, I generally take syrup, I rarely use other drugs.

So i just thought i would put this out there but recently i've been using low doses of dxm every once in a while but today i took 8oz which wasnt that much since i have a considerable tolerance but even though this is all familliar territory i found this trip to be especially helpfull with depression and my mindset. I have wrote down my thoughts which were vary insperational and its been a long time since i actually learned anything from dxm and i think this will be a good trip to end on, but i know for sure that i will use my new found insights in everyday sober life

for some reason it put a smiley face instead of a 8
