^Yikes, that sucks man....I sincerely hope your okay.
As to evidence of DMT production during trauma; not much. However, you know how animals allegedly freeze in the headlights of an oncoming car- its suggested that, in the face of unavoidable trauma/death, the self detaches (depersonalisation) as a means to avoid pain and sorrow. Humans who experience anxiety states often encounter Deperson/derealisation as a defensive mechanism- kinda like almost playing possum=playing dead; a way for the conciousness to briefly escape oncoming badness. However, in humans, its often an evolutionary trait that prolongs anxiety, as we cannot detach fully and avoid thinking about how weird said detachment is...
I think release of adrenaline has a lot to do with your experience. Adrenaline instigates a lot of physiological effects, with the major one being an emphasis on protecting the body; perhaps as a result, such things as digestion slow, blood pressure increases, heart rate increases, urine/feces may be expelled, blood flows away from extremites (I guess your head is an extremeity) and perhaps that results in a differing level of conciousness. The after effects of an adrenaline rush are usually the most conciously felt, as the relase of noradrenaline/norepinephrine (which is psychoactive, whilst adrenaline is not) will DEFINTELY alter your thoughts.
I know when I was younger and used to get into fights, I would rarely remember the actual 'combat', but I would often find myself shaking and vomiting afterwards, as well as a mental sense of extreme anxiety.
Either way, its good that yu can take something away from the event. I guess thats why "controlled trauma" is so popular with humans, be it taking strong drugs, or jumping out of planes, or bungee-jumping, or driving really fast....a new mental state is entered which is different and interesting to us.
Be at peace my friend
