DMT vaporizes at quite a low temperature. If your smoke tastes especially harsh try applying less heat to the pipe. If I vaporize it, that "overwhelming" bad taste does not overtake me, though it still tastes bad. I use my machine.

The more you burn instead of vaporize, the harsher the hit will be and the more DMT is getting destroyed.

I love my machine...it's an upside down freebase airpipe.

Nice work! Has anyone tried using a small bed of menthol tobacco?
I imagine it would smooth out the trip.
 
man, i dont know what all you be smokin, but acacialoid DMT smells and tastes absolutely fantastic. smoked in a carrier matrix of b.caapi, w/a standard cone weighing in at ~300mg and 150mg of that is DMT crystal (pure white) there aint no half pregnant with this material. free thyself from the glass dick, rip a cone and say 'I ACCEPT'...
 
Tainted DMT?

Is it just me or is DMT reeeeeaaaally rough on the lungs. Everytime I smoke it it i start coughing and tripping at the same time. Usually feels kinda weird too like dirty, maybe its just my own dirtyness but maybe the dmt is tainted with something. I read about hydroxides possibly being unenjoyable and to just dissolve in water then let it evap and the hydroxides should go with the h20. Is this true?

Enlighten me
 
DMT is really rough on the lungs.
its one of the reasons i dont like smoking it anymore, even though i find the trip to be one of the best psychedelic experiences you can have.

If your DMT is a freebase it will not dissolve in water, so dont try what you heard (and im not sure what hydroxides are so i cant help you with that.)

if you want to clean up your DMT and make it more pure you are going to have to disolve it in a non polar solvent. The most common one used is Naphtha (you can find it at home depot or lowes).
Disolve the DMT in a very small amount of warm solvent. The warmer the solvent the easier it will be to disolve the DMT in it. I recomend using a shot glass for this.

Once it dissolved stick the shot glass withsolvent in it in the freezer. You will be able to see after a few hours all the fats and other things polluting your DMT drop to the bottom of the shot glass while the clean DMT will percipitate along the sides and ontop of the dirty stuff.

ummmm...i beg to differ w/all above posters. synthetic DMT is IMNSHO utterrly void of soul, spirit and morphogenics imparted to the natural variant - specifically, DMT from the acacialoid varieties.

the latter, produced by dedicated alchemists using next generation tech, results in a product which is pure white crystal in appearence, that is completely benign to the lungs even of nonsmokers. people, i plead, do the spirit molecule a favour, stop using the the synthetic!
 
I extracted it myself from mimosa hostilis. Its an orange crystalesque paste and its very effective although I've been a little too scared to take more than one toke, that and everytime I go into a coughing fit and wake up the next day with clogged lungs. I'll try out naptha freezer thing but could you be a wee bit more precise on where the dmt will be exactly. Floating on top or just on the top layer of the stuff on the bottom. Am I to pick out the dmt from the bottom layer with a syringe or something?

the DMT will be stuck to the sides of the shot glass and ontop of the sludge that falls to the bottom of the shot glass. You will have to try to scrape it of the sludge without actually getting any of the sludge with it. A V shaped shot glass would work best for this but is not neccesary.

When you take the shot glass out of the freezer quickly pour off the naphta before it warms up. now scrape up your clean crystals and smoke it.

i recomend more than 1 hit. Dont let your ego's fear keep you from the most divine experience possible. go for 3 hits :D

Recrystallize from Hot Solvent

This will help to reduce impurities and give the product a more sharply defined melting point, but it won’t do much to reduce discoloration unless combined with activated charcoal (see below). To recrystallize, dissolve your product in a minimal volume of hot solvent (e.g. roughly 20 mL naphtha per gram of DMT) and allow the solution to cool slowly with minimal agitation. Once it has reached room temperature, transfer it to the fridge for a couple hours, then to the freezer. Though it’s not necessary, if you have a small DMT crystal on hand, you can add it to the solution to help seed the recrystallization. Regardless, a nice crop of crystals should precipitate out of solution, and can now be collected by filtration. If unsatisfied with the results of a recrystallization, you can always reheat the solvent to redissolve the DMT and reduce the solution volume, then repeat the cooling process. Naphtha is the most commonly used recrystallization solvent, but success has also been reported with hexane.

Hmmm. I never noticed much qualitative difference between organic vs. synthetic DMT in terms of psychological effects. But I'm willing to take the Pepsi Challenge.... can you point me in the direction of one of these "next generation" teks?
 
the vast majority of available dmt is extracted with non reagent grade OTC chems, the product may be clean enough but in my experience the organically derived material is a far less enjoyable experience. hardware store NaOH that says 100% still usually has black chucks and other frightening impurities, and the hardware store solvents are equally disconcerting.

the synthetic material is a pure delight to smoke, it has given me sharper more colorful, wonderful experiences than i could have ever imagined, combine it with a carefully chosen synthetic MAOI and you have the ultimate DMT smoking experience free from the filthy meddling hands of mother nature%)
 
^i have never seen any black chunks in store bought NaOH. If you go with Roebics brand than im pretty sure its damnnear pure Naoh.
As for the solvents, that also depends on brand. but i have evaped naphta before and it left no residue, so i take it that it was pretty clean.

i am not going to disagree with your statement about synthetic DMT though. Although i have never tried it myself i have a feeling what you say is true.

it is proably less harsh and more potent mg for mg than organic.
 
i forget the brand name (its the one everyone recommends) but the two times i used that '100% sodium hydroxide' stuff there were giant black/silver clumps in it.

think about it this way...
what incentive would a drain cleaner company have to provide pure material? it certainly wouldn't be economical to ensure reagent grade even if it only added a fraction of a cent per container, its going down a drain what difference does it make? the same goes for xylene (its only for thinning paint) the manufactures are not catering to kitchen chemists. luckily reagent grade NaOH can be bought from a million places at the same price as the the drain cleaner.

i have no doubt some people have made highly pure DMT using these chems and carefully washing etc. but i think everyone should do there best to find alternatives...
 
I notice a distinct difference in quality of experience (and smoothness on the lungs) between orange/yellow organic DMT and pure white organic DMT.

I have never tried the synthetic stuff but I imagine it can't be *much* better than some of the finer organic snowflake DMT I have smoked.

Where do you light that thing? How does the material stay in the bowl?

That does kind of remind me of the DMT experience, but my question to you and to the rest of the BL'ers is this:

During a DMT experience, do you notice that things are moving much more quickly than in this video? i feel like I can stop and recognize and analyze each scene of this into, whereas during a DMT experience, I feel like everything is flashing by in front of me very quickly and somewhat chaotically so its difficult to comprehend exactly what Im seeing. Do others notice the same thing? Or am I just different?
