will never have a bad trip....

An inexperienced, usually young, psychedelic user saying they WILL NEVER have a bad trip is similar to an inexperienced driver saying he will never have a serious auto accident. I feel that you are not an experienced driver till ur first car gets totally---ur fault or not. And so I feel you r not a truely experienced tripper till u struggled thru a bad trip or two.

I must agree. I think you are truly experienced when you have gotten into a horrible trip, and are able to get out of the bad trip before comedown. If you are capable of such a feat, you are experienced.

I have not been able to do this with LSD. But with shrooms I can very well. I actually almost always have a bad trip on shrooms the first few hours after I take it, than it takes meditation and usually transforms into a very insightful trip. Or a Linguistic Flowy trip.

I find this too, but I like it, for me it's what gives the mushroom experience a lot of its value. I don't feel I've had a complete trip without a rocky start; it's dealing with the problems that lets you learn and grow as a person.

the only time I tripped on shrooms it started out really really good, then was a bad trip for the rest of the time (though, it didn't ruin the trip). I'd like to get my hands on some high doses of mushies

I started to trip at 14, my first time was when the legendary "Orange Sunshine Barrel LSD" was past out in the San Francisco Bay Area. We dropped allot of that type of top quality LSD back then. Probably because the purity the time period and set and settings after taking the LSD made you feel so right.

This lasted till i was about 25; at 14 it was every day, to once a week! As time and experience, responsibilities etc... it moved to once a month, every other month etc.

Now that I'm in my 50's; and still tripping for the past 20 years has dwindled to about 4 times a year. Why?

Time perception is not the same after 30, as it is when your younger. The reasons for dropping changes too i feel, for many folks. Yes there are allot of us oldsters that still use psychedelics.

It has for me, become a cleansing and spiritual ritual I do to clean out the cob webs society has imprinted on me

Happy Trails

I like this thread... Im 18 and have been using psychs for a half a year probably dropped around 40 times. I agree with bickoma lucy has taught me to live in the moment and appreciate life. It has had positive effects on all aspects of my life, it has taught me to trust myself and just relax. no regrets about dosing as a teen.

I think it can go both ways. Theoretically, its probably better to wait until your brain is more developed. Psychedelics could interfere with that, but that interference could be for better or worse. There is no way to know for sure what a trip may do for you. Many teachers understand that pot is pretty much harmless, except for that small percentage of people who might be prone to schizophrenia, but they still say that its better to let your brain fully develop into young adult hood before you start indulging because pot can slow down your growth and prevent you from reaching your potential. If you do decide to use, just take it slow and be responsible about it.

It seems to me that there is an ideal window of time to take psychedelics, which seems to be about ages 16-26. Any earlier, and your mind hasn't seen enough of the world/ isn't developed enough, and any later the ego has already begun to solidify and be more resistant to psychological change.

That is not, however, to say that any mind after a certain age is incapable of changing. Change is possible at any point in life.

The sweet spot is the reflection period... the period of mind-reorganization after being the receiver of knowledge as a child, and before being a giver of knowledge as an adult.

Me, I'm 20 :D

Good point there. That was the bright side I was referring to. Psychedelics can be somewhat of a savior in certain situations for people of a young age. I have seen people in strict religious families who were all uniform take acid and truly blossom for the first time, something that may not have ever happened otherwise. The older you get, the harder it can be to give up things that you have gotten so used to. You make a really good point.

I needs to get me some LSD, I think that a Phsychadelic at any age can be harmful or rewarding. Depends on the persons brain honestly...

It could bring out mental health issues that they have no knowledge about.

it depends on the kid, really, usually they're not that smart so they take acid or whatever because they want to "trip balls, man!!"

yEH very true!!!! I know alot of people like that. Alot are normal. Some had some rough times because of stupid use of acid though!!! I don't think there are any long term efects worse than what would happen inadults

You've tripped almost twice a week for six months. Of course you feel all lovey dovey right now. Come back when you've started digesting the material that your trips have brought to surface and see if your new found confidence was built on solid ground or just delusion.

This guy has a point, but have faith in yourself and you will more than likely find that your glass is half full. Responsibility to the responsible. Trust in yourself and your common sense will guide you down the rabbit hole.

From my experience, with doing psychedelics as a teenager, and seeing teenagers do psychedelics, ive concluded that it can go either way. If the time is right in the person's life, and their mind is in the right place, psychedelics can aid in the development of their identity. While on the other hand, it can make them somewhat out of touch and detached. This is completely contingent on their ability to integrate the experience and their level of awareness before and after taking the psychedelic

I would say development of identity - in terms of integrity and clarity of dreams - and becoming detached is pretty much the same thing, under the given societal conditions 8)

But I get your point if we're talking about identity in terms of capability of projecting oneself on the immediate surrounding and the other way around. We need to be muddled to survive with this kind of identity in civilization, though.
