I'll start by saying that I'm an enthusiast of psychedelic tryptamines. I've been hunting for 4-HO-DiPT for many years, but it was always out of my reach - until I finally managed to get 50 mg of it.
I decided to take 15 mg first and then 35 mg two weeks later. This is the trip report for the 35 mg dose. My last post in this thread was about the 15 mg experience.
At 15:00, I got in my car and headed toward my favorite forest. It’s a desolate place - nothing but forests and lakes, no people. I often go there for recreation and never run into anyone.
At 15:10, about one-third of the way there, I took 35 mg of 4-HO-DiPT hemifumarate in a capsule.
I arrived at around 15:20, feeling no effects yet - maybe just some mild physiological ones, like increased sweating or chills. I parked my car and started walking deeper into the forest.
At 15:40, the psychedelic effects hit suddenly. Along with them came euphoria and awe at the surrounding nature. I kept walking.
Around 16:00, I experienced a very unpleasant body load, shortly after taking a piss. I started having intrusive visions of myself vomiting all over myself in the middle of the forest path, begging for help, unable to move. These were, of course, just obsessive thoughts, but I began to wonder if that was my near future. Maybe 35 mg was too much for a forest trip? I thought.
I decided to keep going, but the body load wouldn't let up. At one point, I stopped and sat on the grass, feeling faint. I wasn't sure if the situation was serious or not. I threw my backpack to the ground and crouched beside it. It lasted maybe three minutes, then passed. I got up and walked on. The body load vanished in seconds. Euphoria kicked in, and from then on, I oscillated between euphoria and anxiety. The anxiety returned each time the body load resurfaced - it came and went exactly three times.
I’d say the peak was when the body load disappeared for the third time and, from then on, was only occasional, subtle, and non-disruptive.
As I walked through the forest, I experienced typical psychedelic effects on every level - visual, auditory, and mental. But the auditory effects stood out the most, truly exceptional compared to other tryptamines. The first thing I noticed was that certain layers of music had an intense echo while others had much less, making familiar songs sound noticeably different. That was the first effect. Then, as I kept listening, I started losing myself in the music.
The music sounded as good as music possibly can on a psychedelic tryptamine. I felt it flowing through every atom of my body, like I was an instrument being played, resonating with the music I was hearing. It was almost terrifying at times because I felt like I was losing all perception of anything except the sound.
While walking through the forest, I was mesmerized by its beauty. The trees looked like something out of a fairy tale. Staring at one spot for too long caused an explosion of fractals, and whatever I was looking at would slowly dissolve into abstract patterns. To bring reality back into focus, I had to look around and consciously ground myself.
One visual effect that really stuck with me was something that looked like a layer of dish soap stretched between the trees. As if someone was using the trees and bushes to blow massive soap bubbles. I'd never seen anything like it, but then again, I haven’t tripped in the forest that often (though it has happened).
I remember sitting on a fallen tree at the peak and closing my eyes. I saw vivid CEVs, but I didn't have time to explore them fully. What stuck with me was how high-contrast they were—black and white, alternating. It reminded me of shrooms, which gave me identical visuals. It also brought back memories of my DPT trips. The body load had similarities to DPT as well, but it wasn't as brutal. Still, there were moments where I wasn't sure if I was going to throw up. Luckily, those were short-lived. I'm talking about the three waves of body load I mentioned earlier, at the beginning of my experience. It was short but intense, though never bad enough to turn the whole experience into a disaster, which has happened to me with DPT before.
As it started getting dark, I felt sober enough to head back to the car. But before starting the engine, I walked around the area for another 20 minutes—I didn’t feel ready to drive yet.
In the end, I got in the car at 17:20, about two hours after the first effects hit. I'll admit, it wasn’t the smartest decision. At times, I had to concentrate hard on the road because when I drifted too much, the entire road would flood with fractals. But the road was empty, and I was driving slowly, so I managed. I never want to repeat that, though. Don't do that like I did.
I got home around 17:50, but before going inside, I got myself some groceries. Just like with the 15 mg trip, I felt like my voice sounded different when I spoke. After the 15 mg trip, I thought I imagined it, but now I’m sure something’s going on. It’s not a typical pitch drop like with N,N-DiPT, but my voice does sound deeper when I speak.
Both during the 15 mg and 35 mg trips, I noticed muscle tremors, especially in my legs, seemingly unrelated to temperature. Shulgin wrote about this too, and I can confirm it’s a real effect.
