Aidan Girt also has a solo project called 1-Speed Bike which is dope for anyone who likes funky beats, but there isn't anything good on YouTube of his, might have to upload some myself.

Nice post Max. Anything by Hrsta is great. I sure wish they would drop something new.

1-speed Bike is great. Such hipster titles to the songs.
 
I'm going to go with My Bloody Valentine. I don't even think most people in my generation knew about them until the movie "Lost in Translation" came out. I blame my upbringing for knowing it before that.

Their two best albums are:
*Isn't Anything
*Loveless

-XTC & Wine sounds too purposely overdone 60s imo (most of it).
 
I can't remember if fago.sepia were mentioned (or Russian Circles)
I know nobody mentioned "Strangers Die Every Day", "Enemies" or "Beast, Please Be Still"
"Pretend" are sort of mathy post-rock, as are "Keiko Tsuda" (although these guys are more mathy than pretend imo)
I've got nothing more to add, unless this turns into a math-rock and post-hardcore discussion. Check out "Red In Tooth & Claw" by "BATS" though, fucking awesome album.

^ haha " A Silver Mt. Zion" is the easiest way to find most of their material usually. Although album by album they change the name a bit depending on the circumstances.

Yes G?G! are awesome. I love the drumming on the second track on More Skin With Milk-Mouth (although they've already been mentioned I'll let it slide ;))
And if we're gonna start including post-metal then Isis, Neurosis, Callisto, Rosetta, Long Distance Calling, Jakob, Mouth of the Architecht, Pelican, Shape of Despair, Cult of Luna, Burst, etc
But hey, this is about post-rock right?

everyone should witness a silver mt. zion live at least once in their life. i remember getting goosebumps during 'god bless our dead marines' and 'teddy roosevelt's guns' and that's something that very rarely happens.
also i don't know if it qualifies as post-rock, but deep politics by the grails is an amazing album.
