The Big and Dandy Ketamine Thread (Next iteration)

At the time being I dont use it that much, but during the past 6 months or so, I've been doubting wether it's really all that interesting or it's simply a bad habit. In the beginning I felt I was discovering important things during my trips. I was very fascinated by the strange world and the remarkable depths this drug has. But after using it 1-2 times a week for 4-5 months, it seemed more and more that I was chasing some revalation that I couldnt obtain. In some ways I feel you can go far deeper on ketamine than on other psychedelics. But it's like picking up sand with your bare hands. Everytime I feel like I'm getting close to some great conclusion I can feel it slipping away through my fingers.
It seems like ketamine has a huge potential, but I'm not really sure wether it's useful. At least, it isn't for me. I still use it now and then, but I've accepted that it's purely a recreational drug for me.

Can anyone relate to this?

Totally, it seemed so important at first, I used it waaaay too much though, because it seemed like one of the most important discoveries of my life. Now its more a love-hate thing, and definitely chasing a high. I'd like to IV it once, sort of, to bypass my tolerance and reach the old potential it had, snorting is very limited once tolerance develops. It seems impossible to reach a good K-hole, I either don't get close, or go way beyond it and I'm just heavily sedated and disconnected.

While reading the book, "Ketamine: Dreams and Realities," pp37-38, I found the following paragraph about preservatives:

The particular brand may make a difference to drug effects beyond mere folklore. Ketalar contains a preservative (benzthonium chloride, an anticholinergic agent) that has a significant effect upon the brain, and Astrapin's Ketamine-500 contains the potentially neurotoxic chlorobutanol, which has shown harmful effects in some animal experiments. Pure ketamine did not damage spinal nerve cells on repeated injections into the spinal column of animals, but chlorobutanol (the preservative used in some ketamine solutions) induced "significant severe" nerve cell damage. Some people have told me that ketamine freebase, produced by removal of the benzthonium chloride and salts from Ketalar, produces a distinctly different experience. Anticholinergic drugs can cause "delirium" when taken at higher doses.

hey guys, whenever I take ketamine anything I've been hiding or holding back from myself (any thoughts) fly right up to the surface and I'm forced to deal with them while k'd out. does this happen to anyone else?

last time was pretty therapeutic because of this.

yeah exactly zophen, it can be really uncomfortable, I think partly because you are, while being confronted with all these REAL issues, not feeling all too mentally sharp.

personally, my last experience made me happy that it was NOT escapist and that I had a valuable entheogenic experience, even though (like most profound experiences) it started out very unpleasant.

^ I reckon any psychedelic/dissociative can be unpleasant if it shows you a side of yourself you try to avoid, it isn't the drug as such but the users mindset/subconscious.

That said such occurrences aren't common for me but they have happened

Man I've always wanted to try Ketamine, LSD, Mushrooms, and DMT.

A friend of mind said that Ketamine is boring, and its more of a stimulant than anything. But from reading on bluelight, and Erowid, I beg to differ. For a first time user, what would be a good dose to insuffulate???

Also, this stuff is really hard to find in my area. Is there good and bad Ketamine? Since its in powder form, I'm ASSUMING that its likely to be cut with stuff. That'd be a bummer. :(

I tried Diazepam + 2C-B(20mg) + Ketamine(about a half gram of ketamed brand spaced out over the night) this weekend. Absolutely Fantastic. The valium took care of the stimulation (although I'm sure it dampened my trip a bit), and come-up anxiety. I just floated into a psychedelic ocean with electric, digital looking visuals, and accented pastel colors. As with most of my seperate K and 2C-B experiences it was incredibly malleable and clear headed.

^ Ain't the ketamine that's purely the S isomer meant to be a nicer experience?

Don't know what you mean by nicer, but I have recently discovered the wonders of a higher ketamine IM dose. The most I've IM'ed is 65mg of what i believe is (mostly) S(+). But tonight I'm going for 75mg =D

I've found that once I got around 55-65mg, there was a very pleasant disconnection from the world. I would just lay in my bed and have my ipod playing music, and then emerge from that wonderful world about 45 minutes later. I also noticed a very smooth wave of euphoria when it first hits that is strangely reminiscent of opiates and definitely feels like its hitting the same receptors. ahhh.....i can't wait. :D

I wish I could be more specific, but I only heard this through the grapevine that the S isomer is much preferred over the generic Ketamine. I hardly had the fortunate to come across the normal stuff, let alone the S isomer. What would be the commercial reason for producing only the S isomer? Potency?

P.S. I wish you well on your journey tonight! A ketamine trip is the most humble experience.
