I think I am posting this in the correct section, if not then please can mods move it to the correct section please, thank you.

Ok..... What is the best drug for anxiety be it a benzo, ssri, snri, maoi, illegal street drug etc?

So far it seems there are 2 that really stand out for anxiety drug wise..... Valium and the other is called Nardil which is an MAOI, but the side effects/what you can eat etc whilst on Nardil seems to put almost every Dr off from prescribing it!

Anyway, interested to hear replies about the best drug/drugs people have come across for anxiety.

Benzos for sure
But all drugs are just temporary band aids, what about cognitive behavioral therapy?

From my experience of the use of a plethora of drugs including those listed below.

Generalised anxiety even if longterm use:

SSRI = Sertraline, BENZO = Valium, ANTI-CONVULSANT (Off Label use) = Lyrica,
*OPIOID = Buprenorphine or Suboxone *STIMULANT = Methamphetamine

Sudden onset anxiety including panic attack :

SSRI = Sertraline, BENZO = Alprazolam, Oxazepam *OPIATE = Morphine
*OPIOID = Oxycodone TETRACYCLIC = Mirtazapine

I don't have much experience with a vast variety of benzodiazepines so I'm drawing from a limited pool.

*I cannot really say I recommend the use of these drugs in fact you should run a mile from them after using a limited amount or none at all. They're really in there to say - Hey I know once these drugs - Meth and Opiates & Opioids and I could include Heroin and Cocaine, as long as these drugs give great Euphoria then they will undoubtedly relieve anxiety and panic in many patients.

I have seen many members here say that kratom rid them of anxiety problems. It has completely changed their lives for the better. Do a search for kratom and anxiety and you will find a plethora of information.

Until they try to get off the Kratom or they become tolerant to it. It may change their lives for the better temporarily but in the in will most likely just make it worse.

kratom's cool and definitely can be a life saver but in terms of anxiolytics, some might find it too stimulating, I think valium is probably the best anxiolytic, and probably one of the safer benzo's to use, my experience with anti-depressants has been pretty much all around bad. Gabapenten or pregabalin may work for some people, when I first tried them I thought it felt just like a high dose of alprazolam mixed with a low dose of adderal, but overtime the feeling changed to a weird kind of THC/alchahol buzz.

I have never even heard of Kratom until reading the replies! Going to look it up on Google now. Also, Etizolam, is that a drug that is not FDA approved, pink tabs? There is a peptide called 'Selank' I tried it for a little time for anxiety, no real effect, shame as it was highly talked about in the gym. You have to inject it via SQ with an insulin pin. It was originally made in Russia and completed its stage 3 trails in 2010 there, but for some reason never went out to the market, but as usual did not take long for the recipe to be made by others and then distributed.

Low and responsible xanax use for sure. Works within minutes and has short half life so you can be active and fully alert a few hours later (at proper dose). This with a workout routine and you will be in tip top shape in no time! Lexapro also worked well for my anxiety but i had to get off because i started getting serioud emotional outbursts which is not me at all.

Kratom is pretty good overall but caused restlessness while I was taking it. The only antidepressant to really produce anxiolytic effects for me was Mirtazapine. Etizolam is probably my second favorite rc benzo/benzo derivative behind flubromazolam for anxiety, also the brand name Etizest does come in 1mg pink pills. Out of the commonly prescribed benzos, I really like Diazepam, Clonozopam and Lorazepam. Barbiturates are spoken of very highly, although I have only tried two and can't really comment on the overall comparison to benzos. Methaqualone is also spoken of very highly but is too rare to comment. Some honorable mentions I have liked over the years would be GHB (also GBL and 1,4bdo), ethanol, 2-methyl-2-butanol, phenibut and gabapentin. Overall it's a question of the individuals body chemistry, personal taste, as well as the type of anxiety one is looking to relieve.

Kratom is actually possibly the best one, IMO. I'm a big supporter of kratom. It is an addictive drug but kratom addiction is undoubtedly less bad than benzodiazepine addiction. Benzodiazepines are effective drugs generally but over the long run they have the potential to make anxiety worse.

Type of anxiety to relief......Agoraphobia, so dont want to be far from home or I get a panic attack, same if I walk my dog, cant walk him far as worried I wont get back, sometimes my legs have almost seized with fear, they actually hurt to move as soon as panic comes on. Max I can drive from home is about 3 miles without turning round and cant go through the high street in case there is traffic and I feel stuck. If a shop was totally empty I think I would be ok, dont know why this is?

I have read about this a fair bit lately that long term benzo use actually makes anxiety worse. I was originally prescribed Valium for anxiety 15 years ago and never had a break in all of those 15 years. I read that once off benzos anxiety can actually start getting better, I cant see this happening for some reason.Really looking in to Kratom now......Can it be used with benzos and an ssri as I know a few herbs clash with prescription meds?

I shouldn't say that, but the best drug for anxiety would be an opiate for me.
Seriously speaking, you should know what type of anxiety you have. Does it involve fear? Or just nervousness?

Xanax prescribed pretty much although Valium lasts longer and makes you sleep better.
I had Bromazepam prescribed to me for a longer period but tolerance develops pretty quickly.

Valium Brand Name For Diazepam IMO But Clonazepam is basically just as good but without being Seadating and i think clonazepam effects seretonin so it DEFINITELY makes Me energetic unless im tired and or trying to sleep and or got a High or NO To super low tolerance even makes me very hungry Clonazepam one of Brand names alot people hear is Klonopin.

GABAPentin 1200 MG WITHOUT CALCIUM OR MAGNESIUM AND LOTS of protein or any food really snacks and take 1200mg an hour after 1200mg and 1200mg once more the second hour after the intial dose of 1200mg anymore and it wont go through your Blood Brain Barrier or something and after like 900mg you absorb 12% like 150-300mg you Absorb 44% if you take it with food or some like that or maybe i thinking of the percent Morphine and Hydromorphone have been known to Potentiate it And I think my methadone dose too or any opiate or opioid really. You ABOSRB 44% More GABAPentin i also read that Naproxen or Brand Name Aleve 250mg in a studie increases gabapentin absorbption by 12-15% Besides that not much makes a difference i take 1200mg two hours before my methadone though sp[eaking ofthat.

ONLY take gabapentin AND BENZOS OR OPIATES/OPIOIDS 2 HOURS AFTER OR BEFORE YOU TAKE GABAPENTIN AND ONLY TAKE GABAPENTIN 2 HOURS BEFORE OR ATER A BENZO OR OPIOID GOT IT OTHERWISE EVERYTIME PROVEN BY STUDIES YOU REDUCE ABSORBPTION BY 50% BUT 2 HOURS AFTER DOSING MORPHINE OR A BENZO EVEN METHADONE ITS COMPLETELY ABSORBED IN THE STOMACH AND SAFE TO TAKE GABAPENTIN WITHOUT IT effecting your Dose BUT HUGE thing to REMEMBER ALWAYS SAME AS NOT TAKING CALCIUM OR MAGNESIUm with it./

I have had 300mg lyrica and it made me walk like a zombie then fall asleep i take 1200mg gabapentin every hour since waking up if i buy a huge extra bottle of like 180 300mg pills so people say Lyrica is twice as strong as gabapentin mg for mg but just rember 1200mg gabapentin way i said totake it with NO TOLERANCE AT ALL IS PERFECTLY SAFE without or with other drugs but remember THAT IT WILl make u more sensitive to THE SIDE EFFECTS NOT GOOD EFFECTS BAD ONES like red face and hurting stomach from drinking alcohol besides anxiety GABAPentin in studies and from my experience helps Diminish Cannabis Bud smoking or vaporizing cravings.

Now i say to take 1200mg gabapentin every hour and 1200mg twice after initial dose because it lasts 5-7 hours so anymore just PROLONGS the effect but keep Mind gabapentin tolerance increases faster then benzo or opioid/opiate tolerance so like second day you use it dont expect same recreational effects as no tolerance and you want to take one to two weeks from each use to make sure no tolerance develops but stuff like anxiety and sleep daily tolerance does not develop very much at all it is great for everyday use some report withdrawals by I and many others havent i believe it is rebound effects and or caused by bad diet who knows some to do with stopping and lack of magnesium or calcium i know it works through the Calcium Ion channels, sIMILAr to how Clonidine works through your body machenism not effects wise. It seems to increase GABA in the Brain but no proof of it.

But that is all very useful advice and i would read it all or not at all before u make a mistake like taking gabapentin and benzos or opioids/opiates at same time reducing the benzos or opioids in half absorbption Percentage.
Also i would use Benzos Clonazepam and 6mg once a month 3mg Once every 7 days u wait a day so every 8 days i guess to PREVENT ANY TOLERANCE or PHYSICAL ADDICTION But Rebound Anxiety or something and Cravings can be strong once a month but GABAPentin i and many people don't get withdrawals so I Recommend it for Daily use i just got it Prescribed cuz i told my understanding Dr. Howi buy it on the streets but he did not like that so he Prescribed it so i dont gotta buy another person script.

Involves both, I fear the fear, so before I even leave my house I am scared and the 'What if's' flood my mind. Say I drive a bit further than normal I kind of almost freeze with fear, dont even think top specialists know why but they class it as Agoraphobia, so scared of being away from a safe spot, in my case my safe spot is home. Its horrid as my daughter lives 11 miles away and I cant even go and collect her, always have to ask friends to help pick her up.

Sertraline, some benzos like Xannies (dose wisely). DON'T go over 3 and drink ANYTHING ALCOHOLIC. It will hurt you, like, bad. Please forgive the all caps, mods. Can't stress safe use with benzos and alcohol enough, some girl OD'd like that in my school. Good luck with your anxiety bud. :)

I suffer from agoraphobia as well. Like not leaving the house a month at a time when it's REALLY bad. I was getting by with Klonopin enough to calm me and get me out of the house. Then I just had to discover Etizolam which is even better. Etizolam takes anxiety away completely, but to a dangerous level. I feel like a superhero on it, I can do and say whatever I want. It doesn't make you think about your actions and the consequences mostly. I love and hate it at the same time. I would recommend sticking to real benzos like Valium or Klonopin because RC chems seem to be stronger and take everything to the next level. You don't want to go there.

I can't even go back to taking a normal dose of Klonopin anymore because the Etizolam took my tolerance up sky high. It changes your brain chemistry entirely.

Kratom doesn't even compare to an RC benzo or even a regular benzo to me anymore so excuse me for laughing when kratom is mentioned for anxiety.

Nowadays, in order for me to feel good enough to leave the house, I need Etizolam at least. That's why I don't recommend starting any RC benzos. It will become a trap and you feel like you can't make a move without it anymore.

Benzodiazepines(Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin, Valium...etc) work really well for acute/short term treatment of anxiety. Most of the time, it's a bad idea to take benzos long term due to tolerance and physical dependence/withdrawal issues. Whatever anxiety you think you have now, multiply it by 100 once benzo addiction is thrown into the mix.

If you actually give it a chance, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the best way of learning to properly cope with your anxiety. Though, most people don't want to do it, they'd rather have the magic pill that fixes everything right away.

I think there is a small percentage of people that won't do well with CBT. For most, however, given the proper effort, it's superior to any medicine.
